Iranian Crackdown Goes Global
WSJ ^

His first impulse was to dismiss the ominous email as a prank, says a young Iranian-American named Koosha. It warned the 29-year-old engineering student that his relatives in Tehran would be harmed if he didn't stop criticizing Iran on Facebook.

Two days later, his mom called. Security agents had arrested his father in his home in Tehran and threatened him by saying his son could no longer safely return to Iran.

"When they arrested my father, I realized the email was no joke," said Koosha, who asked that his full name not be used.

Tehran's leadership faces its biggest crisis since it first came to power in 1979, as Iranians at home and abroad attack its legitimacy in the wake of June's allegedly rigged presidential vote. An opposition effort, the "Green Movement," is gaining a global following of regular Iranians who say they never previously considered themselves activists.

The regime has been cracking down hard at home. And now, a Wall Street Journal investigation shows, it is extending that crackdown to Iranians abroad as well.

This isn't exactly a new tactic by the regime

There is absolutely no good reason the members of this regime should still be around.

Photobucket Which is one reason why I don't show faces in my photos of anti-Iranian-government protest rallies.

Sounds like we need to sponsor Iranian freedom activists. They send e-mails to a sponsor who then posts it on facebook.

"said Koosha, who asked that his full name not be used. "

A little late for that, the cows are already out of the pasture.

The question is, did the Obama Junta sell him out to the Iranians?

No it isn’t a new tactic at all. Sounds like same old crud, different generation. Plus they have a few hostages again. Maybe Bubba can make a rescue plan or Obama can bow to the mullahs and there will be peace on earth.

Just don’t expect it from this administration. And don’t be surprised if supporting the dissidents gets us on Obama’s enemies list, if we are not already there.

This is really the best opportunity to support a regime change from within since the Solidarity movement in Poland. Yet I am even critical of Bush for missing this opportunity (unless the mainstream media squelched reports, which would not surprise me in the least). Obama kissing Imanutjob’s butt?
Even Italy supported the dissidents publically!
I try to explain this to my liberal neighbors (an exercise in futility), who think I’m looking for a war against Iran. Look at one of the ways that Reagan brought down the Soviet empire. Not just an arms buildup, but with ideals. Jean Kirkpatrick simply reading the names of the political prisoners in the GULAG and the refusniks did much to encourage those who sought freedom, as described by Natan Scharansky.

Who said anything about Zero's help? He's bowing to Iran and any other enemy he greets. I'm talking about US doing the legwork! Give the dissidents a layer to hide behind.

And my wife has been on the radio from one such rally into Iran, so it's clear we needn't apply for a visa anytime soon.

Facebook appears to be a great place to set up pro-jihad pages, BTW.

This article is why some who tried to infiltrate FR under false backgrounds with pro-Mullah talking points and disinformation and never quite made it were opposed since “they” had their parents and close relatives back in Iran and tried to hide they were a shill controlled by the Mullahs.

At that time, the Mullah shill invasion was still quite new and hard to believe inside the USA. As this current article expresses, only those without blackmail or extortion weakneses can remain reliable enemies of the Mullahs.

You would be amazed at how many anti-clerical regime people have been bought and turned by the Mullahs in the past 12-months where such efforts have been intensified.

People like non-citizen Trita Parsi have increasingly been outed in the last few weeks but many temporary resident Iranians in the USA and/or Europe or American-Iranian Obama supporters are also being shown to be Mullah plants and operatives.

Predominantly among Real Estate agents, attorneys, professors, doctors and “permament” students in our universities (many of whom are Iranian Ministry of Information and Intelligence employees on “leave”/ assignment).

The Mullahs have been offering incentives for poorer Iranians in the USA to work for them, often students, by giving them a car, a paid rent apartment and walking around money to gather information on their Persian diaspora friends and colleagues.

The encouragement and support of the Oba-Hussein administration for Islamic jihadis (including Palestinians) together with money investment in the local Persian mass media by the Mullahs has resulted in Persians jettisoning their principles and joining the enemy.

As our economy worsens and desperation of often linguistically poor or non-English speaking Iranians increases, this aspect in Mullah infiltration will increase.

At AntiMullah, we increasingly have to watch our backs with people we could not conceive of working with or for the Mullahs. Including some who have found a niche around His Imperial Highness Prince Reza Pahlavi and his wife’s family or other members of the royal family at other locations.

Nor does it help when Google in their pro-Obamabot efforts, suppress any pertinent information that outs the Mullah supporters or the Obama administration.

FR is one of the few places left where these matters find light of day.

We are not showing the regime enough love. If we loved them more, they would change. bambi says so.

Seriously, I agree with you. There is no good reason for them to be around. More importantly, there is no good reason to try to make nice with them. It is as if the Hostage situation never happened.

The dems were so obsessed with chads and hanging chads one would think they would be livid over the tactics the regime used against the Iraniams who protested the last election.
