Finally: The complete Shatner/Limbaugh interview (Video of William Shatner Interviewing Rush)

I called the teaser on ObamaCare surreal, but you know what the most surreal part of this ended up being? The sheer chumminess of it. Not that I expected a kal-if-fee between them over, say, cap and trade, but Shatner could have gone the provocateur’s route here and picked a fight if only to drum up buzz for his show. Instead, they spend very little time talking politics, just a few minutes or so on what conservatism means and how it applies to health care starting at around 5:45. The rest is devoted to growing up and personal struggles, with Rush delving into the agonies of withdrawal near the end.

If you’re pressed for time, I’d suggest watching at around 9:30 for their commiseration on hearing loss. A nice job here by the captain; if he’s smart, he’ll have on other political guests.

The great thing I like about William Shatner is this -- through thick and thin and through the years, the man does not take himself ( or his station in life ) too seriously.

I don't think the man is full of himself ( unlike other bloviating film stars out there ).

I think both men are personable guys. I may not agree with Shatner on a lot of things but like Rush he’s had a career where he has liked what he’s doing and he doesn’t seem to take himself too seriously, or try to push himself on others. I’m sure he’s donated to stuff I wouldn’t and but if Rush can be a personable guy and sit down and talk with others on the other side, seems Shatner is able to do so as well without reverting to an obnoxious Garofalo/Gore/Begley kind of person.

I watched a couple of his shows, and Shatner seemed like a good interviewer.

the man does not take himself ( or his station in life ) too seriously.

Over the years, Shatner has been a guest several times on Howard Stern's radio show.

One topic that often comes up is that some of the members of the Star Trek cast hated Shatner - but he comes off on Stern's show as a great guy - really funny and able to laugh at himself. He's one of my all time favorite guests on that show.

Shatner said disgusting things about Sarah Palin. He is slime.

I really liked the interview. You know, it was such a pleasant reprieve to actually focus on a guest, without the ever present gotcha, nastiness or product shilling.

Good job by both of them.

I saw William Shatner in a restaurant in Hawaii once eating with his brother and brother's family; they had scuba dived that morning.

Shatner looked white-bread normal and called no attention to himself whatsoever. The only reason we recognized him is that he said something kind of loud and I immediately recognized the James Kirk voice. I think we might have been the only ones there who recognized him other than the waiter who saw his credit card and confirmed his identity to us.

I always liked James T. Kirk and it was fun to see him enjoying life off the Enterprise.

LOL. I’d rather listen to William Shatner rapping than anyone of these bozo’s on the radio today ( Yes, Eminem included ).

Whenever he does one of these, we should give them a term -— SHATNERINGS.

Wonder why they never considered him as Emcee for the OSCARS.

WHAT A FANTASTIC INTERVIEW..!!!

1. So happy he’s able to emote like this and talk about his past. He should do more of it —Savage (whom I no longer listen to) does this so naturally. When Rush does it, I find I like it as much —probably more. This is something he should do more of.

2. He looks GREAT! Rush would prefer me to LISTEN, not just look (this is his one objection to TV —he says when people watch stuff on TV they mainly remember looks, which is not his actual aim).

My point is that I want him to live a REEEEALLLLY long time. I mean, I have NO FAITH in Rinos, and I know we’ll need Rush around pulling this stubborn train for at least another 15 years, if not more.

This is the reason I inwardly celebrated when the f’ing NFL rejected him. We need Rush to stay away from cigars and rich food. I mean that with no controlling, better-than-thou’ing, OK?

We ALL need Rush healthy, cuz no way would McCain or those guys save us the way Rush always does. When we lose Rush...it will be worse than when the Japanese lost Yamamoto to those P-38’s...

3. JUST WOW! And kudos to Shatner —he was great, here. He really gave Rush the one chance he needs to win people over. Rush could do this to EVERY lib, if only they gave him one chance.

"Rush!!"

Frowning takes 68 muscles.
Smiling takes 6.
Pulling this trigger takes 2.
I'm lazy.
