Free Republic is a fringe right-wing Christian fundamentalist site

Free Republic is a fringe right-wing Christian fundamentalist site... or so they say... and they might even be right.

We don't go for any of that godless left-wing big government socialist malarkey. And we do put our faith and trust in God, not government. We are pro-God, pro-Life, pro-Family, pro-Country and pro-Liberty.

We do not believe that government or science knows what's best for us or our children. We will make our own decisions thank you very much.

Every once in a while some group of posters get together and try to bend Free Republic to their will. Now, we tend to be pretty free-wheeling around here and will take a lot of guff and a lot of obnoxious insults from a lot of people, but eventually a breaking point is reached.

For example, when a group of RINO lovers recently banded together to try to force FR to accept an abortionist/gay rights RINO as our presidential candidate, they soon found themselves on the outs.

And a few years ago a group of evolutionists tried to force FR over to their way of thinking and they soon found themselves on the outs.

FR is a pro-God, pro-Creator, pro-Life, pro-Liberty site.

And now we have yet another group of Darwinists trying to have their Darwinist way with us. Well, as I've said before what doesn't kill us will only make us stronger.

Darwin Central has again declared war on FR. They have ping lists and email lists and will try to pull away as many FReepers as they possibly can. So be it. Those who would rather go with Darwin, please go. I sure as hell won't try to stop you.

FR will remain a pro-God, pro-Life, pro-Liberty, pro-Creator conservative site.

We wholeheartedly believe that our unalienable rights are a gift from God our Creator not from man or government. And no man, no government will ever deprive us of same.

Keep your powder dry.

yes. but different from the ones we know here. adapted to their evironment. and since they were isolated for so long genetic changes were passed to their offspring that weren’t to the mainland birds

But That’s is ALL they WERE and All They Will Ever BE,

Who said? Even those who argue for a young earth, six day translation of creation often argue that there were far fewer 'kinds' before the flood (in order to figure how all those animals fit on the ark) and that 'microevolution' since then generated all the diversity we see now. If one pair of 'canines' on the ark can microevolve into the tens of thousands of different dog species we see now, in just a few thousand years, what would you get if you had the same rate of change, but extend the timeline the other direction by millions of years?

...per previous.. may be worth taking to another thread to chat about so we don’t drift Jim’s thread too off topic. If you want to do that and keep discussing, ping me.

LOL!! I guess so. I just expressed my lack of understanding and here we are off!

However no one has been ugly or anything, not that I can see. Even disagreeing Freepers are pretty cool for the most part.

Maybe I am just too dull to grasp it. And then that leaves me to ‘leaving it to the scientists’,

If your instinct tells you that that it's all Politics with a capital P behind much of biological science, then your instincts are correct. Just as Phil Jones and Michael Mann have corrupted "climate science" (whatever the heck that means) by their own greed, vanity, and ideology, so too do biological scientists seek self-aggrandizement over humble scientific inquiry.

Just remember the word "species" is quite malleable, especially by those on the Left. My personal opinion is that the word is being corrupted for political gain. After all, if we can split the western flycatcher into 2 suboscine species that are virtually identical -- the Cordilleran and the pacific-slope -- then in a roundabout way, we've "proven" the exigency and expedition of evolution in action, haven't we?

They took the word "gay," and corrupted it. They're trying to take the word "marriage" and corrupt it. Tomorrow, it will be the word "species."

Yes, appalling.

This business of turning one species into two, or even 75 as has been done with salmon, is truly bizarre ~ UNTIL YOU READ the legal definition in legislation regarding species.

The law allows you to consider HABITAT and RANGE. So, if a bunch of pigeons prefer the playground at School 9, and another bunch prefer the court house downtown, they are, under the law, 2 different species and entitled to whatever protections the laws might allow to keep them from going extinct.

That might include public seizure of private land, prohibition of hunting an "endangered species" with 6 billion members, restrictions on cutting down trees, or planting trees (Fairfax County actually did that ~ guy planted the right trees in the wrong spots, and the wrong trees in the right spots so they sued his britches off and bankrupted him).

And just what is the political object behind all this?

Uh, isn't the Pope pretty doggone "fundamental" when you get right down to it?

Again, I don't let the opposition own the words, and that includes opposition owned or controlled dictionaries. They are still on their kick of isolating the term "Fundamentalism" to the anti-evolution crowd that got involved in the Scopes trial nearly a century ago. I, on the other hand, want the term recognized to be more broadly inclusive of all within the pale of Christian tradition, or Judeo-Christian theological tradition.

Whoever the Scopes people were is simply not relevant here.

Why, welcome to FR - to a longtime lurker!

Yes it seems more and more there are these “stand-up” moments occurring happening...perhaps in preparation for what is ahead.

Well, “beyond the pale” of that tradition, is there no room for science?

Well, how would a different sub-species of a bird be any different? A finch is a finch whether it has different colors or beak style.

"Can I hear a loud AMEN folks?"

No.

On the Internet, no one can hear your murmurs.

All they can do is see the sparks that fly from your fingers.

Science is well within the pale. There are numerous Christians who use science every day. Many of them use mathematics for example. And some of them can read.

Which leads me to ask "what are you trying to get at"?
