Upwards of 40 percent of all land in the United States is already under some form of government control or ownership -- 800 million to 900 million acres out of America's total 2.2 billion acres. The government now appears poised to wield greater control over private property on a number of fronts. The battle over private property rights has intensified since 2005, when the Supreme Court ruled in the Kelo v. City of New London case that the government could take property from one group of private landowners and give it to another. Outraged over that ruling and a series of recent efforts by government to wield greater control over private property, citizens are fighting back. Fox News' Shannon Bream takes a fair and balanced look at the controversy in a three-part series. The Clean Water Restoration Act currently pending in the U.S. Senate could reach to control even a "seasonal puddle" on private property. Eleven senators and 17 representatives in the U.S. House have sent a letter to Majority Leader Harry Reid and Speaker Nancy Pelosi blasting the measure as one of the boldest property grab attempts of all time.

They had a huge land grab in NJ.
Called it the Highlands Act, in the guise of protecting the water supply.
More like grand theft.
If you live in Michigan, Florida, or Louisiana, this has the potential to give the feds authority to seize the entire state.
Thanks to all the Freepers who saw no difference between McCain & Hussein.
Control the food and water....control the people.
Until we retake America, the Feds will continue to usurp States rights.
You are aware that this has been moving forward since Clinton was in office? Frankly I wouldn’t be surprised to find John McCain supporting it.
Don’t blame me. I voted for Sarah!
No offense, Sarah would have been only VP, and biding by McCain’s policies. We’d be dealing with McCain and his
reaching across the aisle crap. At least now the socialists are out there for the country to see, exposing themselves daily. I’m glad Sarah lost, she’s gearing up for the next phase without the shackles of a McCain campaign.
Look up the Coastal Zone Management Act. The government is eroding private property rights one zone at a time.
Well, I must confess I had bad thoughts...sorry God...I thought the guy was pretty old so maybe Sarah would be president for 8 years...one can dream.
just sayin'
I think Sarah would have been able to get John’s ear on a lot of issues.
I just read your ‘Sarah Palin Christmas’ thread a few minutes ago...still there.
It was between a slow bleed and an aputation. We got the amputation. It is easier to stop a slow bleed.
OK..my post is back in breaking. Let’s see for how long..
Perhaps, would he have listened? She’s not his sidekick anymore, and the shackles of McCain are removed, but he did propel her to the national scene. This is a good thing. The BEST thing McCain did was introduce the country to Sarah.
Thank you :-) - I am glad this one staied there. Jim loves Sarah so with a bit of luck Palin’s posts should survive the shredder - hopefully.
Until people start to go all Carl Drega on them, the Feds will continue to usurp States rights.
It’s always a bad idea to take a proud and motivated people and rub their noses in defeat and contumely.
Around here, lots of farmers have ponds to water the cattle. We have 5, in fact. This is really ominous.
McCain endorsed Hussein, I heard him with my own two ears say that “he would make a good president”.
I voted Bolton/Palin.
NO MORE RINOS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Nearly 100% of elected officials in DC are COLLECTIVISTS. It doesn’t matter if you are the lowest hanging fruit, or the big dog like GE. The goal is to take whatever percentage of your life energy, and give it to another. Usually they take it from the middle class, give it to the poor, overseas ventures, or to pay back the nearly $400,000,000,000 we own annually in interest payments on past debt. Add in the $2,000.000.000.000 trillion in deficit spending annually, we will within the next 7 years owe over a TRILLION DOLLARS each budget cycle, to service past debt. 4 trillion, 5 trillion, even 10 trillion dollar budgets are in sight. IOW, the end of the financial world as we know it. The culprit, entitlement spending. Purposely enslaving this generation, the next one..and the next one...and the next one. The only way out, is to elect people that are believers in the Constitution completely. It is either that, or the bullet box. It is impossible to incrementally change the nations course. It has to be done in a big push. Is anybody ready?
But your point is well taken. The people who are going to 'enforce' this crap will live in the area. It'll be some Regional Sub-Director who has a house in town, goes to the movies, drinks at the local watering hole.....
L
I predict some of our finest engineers will see to it that the government is no longer able to function properly.
Imagine a couple of million government workers working with paper and pencil trying to handle their business.
It's there for the plotting.
The Democrats are using WA state as a precedent for these water issues and property rights grabs. Property rights lawyers from national groups have been circling my county all year, saying that my county has some of the most egregious violations of property rights in the whole country. They are waiting for the county to take someone to court, so they can use the case to go to court.
If it rains where you live, this has the potential to give the feds authority to seize your land.

I went to Detroit earlier this year and was surprised at the amount of swampy land around the area.
Is anyone surprised?
I would have hated to be an early explorer or soldier trying to fight my way though here before there were roads. I live on the Raisin river (River Raisin traditionally) which was named after the wild grape vines that are so common around here.
Back in 1812 an entire division of Kentuckians were massacred by the British and indians here in the battle of the River Raisin. Out of a total of some 700 soldiers, only 15 or 20 made it home. Apparently several Kentucky counties are named after men who died here. (Just some nearly forgotten history from the area)
What??
“You can take my life, but you can never take my FOOD!”
Removing the word “Navigable” will pretty much include all water. If you live in a swampy state they will have a lot of leeway to tax or fine you off your property.
Throw in health care and the boot is firmly on the neck...
Beautiful.
Yeah, Michigan extends well beyond the borders of Detroit.
This is the way they will try to bring their heavy hand of control over us rural folk. We scare them. They tried it here...once. They had such a negative response they hightailed it out. But it never occurred to me, and others, they wouldn’t be back thinking they had even more power. Well, so do we. SO DO WE!!!
Wow that is pretty.
sorry your life is going to be H*** if this CW thing gets passed.
The Movie “Southern Comfort” comes to mind.
Cajun Trapper: I ain’t gonna kill y’all if I don’t got ta... you got a bayou over dere... take it... stay to the west side... you’re gonna find a road about a mile up dere.
Hardin: Do you mind tellin’ us what the Hell this is all about?
Cajun Trapper: It real simple... we live back in here... dis is our home, and nobody don’t f##k with us.
Hardin: [pointing at Bowden, who is hanging dead from a tree] What about HIM?
Cajun Trapper: What about ‘im?
Hardin: Did he do it to himself or did your friends help him out?
Cajun Trapper: [fires shot at Hardin’s feet] Now, if I was you all, I’d quit askin’ questions and haul ass... ‘cause my buddies... dey not nice like me.

Gangsterhood, from sea to shining sea.
Do we just rent from the government or will we ever actually ever OWN the property we live on?
They can attempt to take all they want, but in the end WE WILL TAKE BACK THIS COUNTRY!
FRIGGIN TRAITORS!
That they are...but half the country does not seem to care. We will also be fighting our own neighbors I fear.
Don’t forget the American Revolution....the first one, that is....
One-third of the colonists wanted to fight the British in order to form an independent nation....
One-third of the colonists were loyal to the British Crown;
One-third didn’t care one way or the other....they just wanted to see which side came out on top, and then they were going to throw their support to the winning side.
That’s how it all went down from 1775 - 1783.
This is not right. This government no longer represents the citizens of this great nation. It is time to clean this mess up and send all those who wish to destroy, and subvert the rights of the people packing. It is time for citizen to return this country to the founding principles by whatever means necessary.
I mentioned to my spouse the other day that it seemed that the “in our face - who cares what you think” attitude they have while they strip us of our rights and our freedoms is as if they are trying to start civil unrest to impose marshal law as soon as possible. Some of us will not be so compliant.
