Why Does Interpol Need Immunity from American Law? [Andy McCarthy]

Why Does Interpol Need Immunity from American Law?   [Andy McCarthy]

You just can't make up how brazen this crowd is. One week ago, President Obama quietly signed an executive order that makes an international police force immune from the restraints of American law.

Interpol is the shorthand for the International Criminal Police Organization. It was established in 1923 and operates in about 188 countries. By executive order 12425, issued in 1983, President Reagan recognized Interpol as an international organization and gave it some of the privileges and immunities customarily extended to foreign diplomats. Interpol, however, is also an active law-enforcement agency, so critical privileges and immunities (set forth in Section 2(c) of the International Organizations Immunities Act) were withheld. Specifically, Interpol's property and assets remained subject to search and seizure, and its archived records remained subject to public scrutiny under provisions like the Freedom of Information Act. Being constrained by the Fourth Amendment, FOIA, and other limitations of the Constitution and federal law that protect the liberty and privacy of Americans is what prevents law-enforcement and its controlling government authority from becoming tyrannical.

On Wednesday, however, for no apparent reason, President Obama issued an executive order removing the Reagan limitations. That is, Interpol's property and assets are no longer subject to search and confiscation, and its archives are now considered inviolable. This international police force (whose U.S. headquarters is in the Justice Department in Washington) will be unrestrained by the U.S. Constitution and American law while it operates in the United States and affects both Americans and American interests outside the United States.

Interpol works closely with international tribunals (such as the International Criminal Court — which the United States has refused to join because of its sovereignty surrendering provisions, though top Obama officials want us in it). It also works closely with foreign courts and law-enforcement authorities (such as those in Europe that are investigating former Bush administration officials for purported war crimes — i.e., for actions taken in America's defense).

Why would we elevate an international police force above American law? Why would we immunize an international police force from the limitations that constrain the FBI and other American law-enforcement agencies? Why is it suddenly necessary to have, within the Justice Department, a repository for stashing government files which, therefore, will be beyond the ability of Congress, American law-enforcement, the media, and the American people to scrutinize?

There's one minor mistake in the article.

EO 12425, issued by President Reagan in 1983 was also revised by ... CLINTON ... (surprise, surprise). Clinton also removed some of the restraints on INTERPOL which the original EO had.

I read them all yesterday but can't recall the specifics. Which is basically irrelevant in view of what Barry's done.

But 'series' if INTERPOL comes knocking on your door, will you care? Personally I give them less credence than any UN Blue Helmet that may appear on US soil. As far as I'm concerned the US Constitution is STILL the Supreme Law of the Land! So Barry can sign all the INTERPOL EO's he wants.

oh-oh. I'm now on Janet Nappy's DHS extremist list for saying the 'Constitution' is supreme. I think maybe I should be scared?

So how do we get anybody outside this forum to care? That was a rhetorical question.

Interpol claims immunity and now what happens to the case?

Well, my take would be upon discovering the idiots were from interpol, said American grabs his bug out bag, extra ammo, and two of his closest like-minded friends...... and well, I'm sure you can figure out the rest. It's better than going bankrupt trying to defend against tyrany in a court controlled by tyrants.

Men with nothing to die for or kill for also have nothing to live for.....nor do they deserve the security provided by others.

>> Could obama really be preparing for civil war?

Is it only Obama? It seems that there have been many warning signs for some time. Hard to point any of this out with out being called a kook. <<

It’s been a long time coming, the question is what will the match be that starts the fire?

Right now the Constitution is the water in the tinderbox. And this administration has a Blow Dryer....

does he really want to challenge the largest armed force on Earth?

Maybe.

He can either destroy the US without resistance or destroy it thru resistance.

He is a cancer on the country and needs to be treated that way and soon, too, before it is too late.

Unfortunately, the current governng bodies of this country don't seem to agree with that! Just wait for the next to appointees to SCOTUS!

Good point! A way to tie the hands of future opposition...make them afraid for their lives if they end up in the government seats.

S.S.S.

I think I just changed my thinking on “safe room, announce I have a gun, and the police are on the way.” Someone coming in, it’s now, ID the threat, neutralize it, ID the threat for political purposes, and then apply the other 2 S’s as necessary.

My response:

Any agent authorized by a foreign or domestic government or quasi-governmental organization who is discovered operating contrary to the American Constitution or contrary to the Consitutional rights of any American citizen, will be summarily executed.

How's that for a counter-balance?

Frowning takes 68 muscles.
Smiling takes 6.
Pulling this trigger takes 2.
I'm lazy.

I guess that's why I'm an 'Extremist' ;-)

And I don't think Barry will be making the next SCOTUS appointment.
Kennedy will hang on and Barry will be gone in 2012.

Hitler didn’t take over all at once. It was several years before the frog realized he was in boiling pot.

The left pushes their agenda in incremental inches with one hand while the other hand is busy bitch slapping it’s enemy. They NEVER let up.
