'Naked machines' headed for airports
Oklahoma Watchdog ^ | January 5, 2010 | Andrew W. Griffin

OKLAHOMA CITY – Will Rogers World Airport will get full body scanners like the one at Tulsa International, though at least one area resident says the “naked machines” will be enough to keep her from flying.

Following the attempted Christmas Day bombing of Northwest flight 253, the federal Transportation Security Administration has ramped up plans to make sure airline travelers are thoroughly searched and even scanned in new machines.

Some travelers are not thrilled with the idea of having to go through the body scanners, or “naked machine,” as Norman resident and activist Kaye Beach calls them.

“The way I understand it, they have capability to record (the image), though they say they don’t. I’m sorry, but the ‘trust us’ route doesn’t work.”

“The airport route has gotten to be such a hassle and uncomfortable that I will pretty much not fly, unless there’s an emergency,” Beach said. “I will never go through a naked machine and my daughter will not go through a naked machine. It’s definitely altered my habits. I used to like to fly and liked going to airports. Not any more. I feel like a criminal going through there.”

Beach said that she is suspicious of people like former Department of Homeland Security head Michael Chertoff who advocate body scanners and have interests in a company, the Chertoff Group with a client that makes the machines, according to The Washington Post.

A report out of Britain’s Guardian newspaper notes that detail may break child pornography laws there.

This whole strategy will become completely different once scans of young teenage girls hit the internet. In fact, those are precisely the scan examples they are refusing to release or even discuss right now, because the visuals would so outrage the country.

And remember, every scan is linked to the person’s complete ID information.

Don't worry, they'll probably excuse Muslims from going through it because it violates their religious standards of modesty or some such idiocy.

I wish I could say that's a joke, but I'd actually give it a non-zero chance of happening with odumber in charge.

Personally I think every fifth scan
should be sent to a public monitor
in the terminal.
It would make waiting a snap.

Just thought about pregnant women and how this would affect the baby? Also other health concerns with this technology.

As an executive pilot I do not fly commercial. I’ll take AMTRAK home or rent a car if I have to if it’s a one-way flight.

Punishing Americans for Muslim terrorist actions. The ways of the politically correct never cease to disgust me.

Although it sounds like a great idea, my first thought is that "Aren't most people a bit fat?"

Well, I did an Internet search for "Millimeter wave scanner images" and trust me, not only are most people carrying a roll of fat around their middle, even the images of the ladies don't look very good without their hair and makeup.

The attempted bombing of Delta/Northwest 253 on Christmas Day was not the first from the Islamic terrorists nor will it be the last. Since I am a pilot, I have had people ask what can a passenger do onboard an airplane to help thwart a terrorist attack. Having personal experience with a few events myself, as well as reading articles and hearing stories from other crewmembers, I can give you some information which might assist you in dealing with a suspicious passenger or situation.

I am sooo terribly hoping that there is a TON of these “naked” images of Muslims hacked and distributed across the internet.

Maybe then it will get through their indoctrinated dead fish eyed minds that...

An Airliner is nothing more than a glorified flying Greyhound bus. I will not be subjected to being treated like a potential terrorist and scanned just to travel. I have driven clear across the U.S.A. and back. I will do it again if I have to.

The screeners are offering to give up their health care plan and take a massive pay cut in exchange for putting Helen Thomas on the no-fly-list.

Sales of Spanx have quadrupled.

The “pinch” and “peel” process is known to be laborious and painful.

Add 25 minutes per Spanx removal.

All airports should have copious amounts of of Advil and, in cases of extreme emergency, lots of Body Glide Skin Lubricant.

Delta 441 has been delayed 3.25 hours.

Word from those working on such systems is that the radiation levels involved are significantly less than the radiation exposure of the flight itself.

Dumbasses are scanning for things. We are playing catchup as the terrorists constantly change their MO. And we’ll never overcome this.

Dumbasses need to be scanning for people.

I know that’s not politically correct, but consider that continuing this PC crap is gonna get another bunch of us killed.

We are playing catchup as the terrorists constantly change their MO.

That's it in a nutshell. We just react instead of thinking ahead. I keep seeing people on news reports standing in airports saying they "feel safer". Do you FEEL safer or ARE you safer?

The issue isn't being seen naked on a screen, it is that it is a reactionary move. Will the people who submit to it and "feel safer" take the same attitude after a terrorist is caught with explosives in a body cavity and the TSA has stirrups and a mammography machine at check-in?

Just imagine all the fat, geeky TSA screeners getting an eye full of naked women passing by. They will probably record the good ones for viewing later. Cute girls may resist air travel.
