ITHACA, NY--Somewhere, the late great Charles Schulz is rolling over in his grave.
Schulz, the creator of the much-loved Peanuts comic strip (and a devout Christian), probably never envisioned a day when his characters would be appropriated for a “satirical story” about teenaged homosexuals.
But that’s exactly what happens in the new play, “Dog Sees God: Confessions of a Teenage Blockhead," which the Ithaca Journal describes as “a satirical story that ... features characters from the ‘Peanuts’ comic strip gang in their volatile teenage years”
It all begins with CB, Charlie Brown, who contemplates the death of his loyal dog, Snoopy, who ate his bird pal, Woodstock. The angst CB feels sets him off on a journey of not only searching for the answers to where his beagle has gone now that he's dead, but who he, himself, is now that he can't escape the overwhelming grief he feels pervading his soul.Eliza VanCort, director of the Actor's Workshop, told the Ithaca Times that she found the play during a visit to New York City:
As CB struggles with his identity, some members of the gang display their colorful insecurities and harsh beliefs when he explores his first homosexual relationship with Beethoven (think Schroeder from the comic strip), who still hides behind his piano and the music he plays during his lunch hour.
"I wanted material that I connected with personally and I wanted to produce thought-provoking art," she said. "This play explores issues that I care deeply about. What happens to the bullied child when he or she grows up? Why do we sometimes single out the 'other'? What makes people choose between running with the pack or breaking away? When I read this play, I simply loved it. It shines a light on all the messiness of life but offers hope that things can change for the better."
According to Wikipedia, the producers of play identify it as an unauthorized parody, claiming that this protects it from a lawsuit by Schulz’s estate.
They are not morons: they are savages, for whom the very concept of “value” must be annihilated to validate their desire for the instant gratification of every impulse and to take whatever they want but have not earned. Whatever is good, decent, honorable, rational and true must be crushed and denied legitimacy so that they may evade all responsibility and avoid reality.
Instead of getting upset at these perverts, I choose to honor Charles Schultz by remembering one my favorite Charlie Brown cartoons.
As Lucy looks out the window, she and Charlie Brown have the following conversation.
Lucy: Spring is coming.
Charlle Brown: He is?
Lucy: Not he is, it is.
Charlie Brown: It is what?
Lucy: It is coming.
Charlie Brown: What is coming?
Lucy: Spring is coming.
Charlie Brown: He is?
At this point Lucy loses it and starts chasing Charlie, who is smiling as he runs from her, saying: “Someday I’m going to drive that girl crazy.”
Wouldn’t there still be copyright laws that his heirs could use against this?

How can Shulz’s estate allow this????
Charles Schultz would be horrified (he was a Christian), not to mention these were cartoons for CHILDREN, not perverts!
Does anyone know if the Schulz estate can sue this group??
I hope the Schutlz family sues the PEANUTS out of these twisted fools!
According to the article, he ate his best friend Woodstock and then took a trip to the big doghouse in the sky.
Thinking about this post; and reading the script of your favorite “Peanuts” comic, seems to me that instead of Charlie Brown exploring homosexuality..if he were to have a future and “grow-up”, it seems much more likely he and Lucy would fall in love! Just a thought..
Someone owns the rights to Charlie Brown. If they object to this use, they should be able to shut it down.

I agree 100%. The leap into the abyss will not stopped until WE stop it. They will never stop of their own accord.
Both Peppermint Patty and Marcie had an unrequited crush on Charlie Brown. They wrote letters to him while he was in camp and then quarreled over him when one got a letter back and the other didn't right away. Marcie once asked Charlie Brown out to see a movie but when Charlie asked what was playing, she got mad and left.
They will dishonor everything. It is how they destroy societies and nations. Christ was gay, Washington was gay, Boy Scouts are gay, Gen Patton was gay...The Marxist will not stop until all vestiges of traditional Western culture has been destroyed.
