Debra Medina implodes on Glenn Beck's show
Kansas City Star ^ | 2/11/10 | By Yael T. Abouhalkah, Kansas City Star Editorial Page columnist

Medina is facing off in a GOP primary with Gov. Rick Perry and U.S. Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison.

Medina's absurd comments to Beck about U.S. government involvement in 9/11 included this gem:

"I don’t have all of the evidence there, Glenn, so I’m not in a place, I have not been out publicly questioning that. I think some very good questions have been raised in that regard, there are some very good arguments and I think the American people have not seen all the evidence there, so I have not taken a position on that."

Perry and Hutchinson immediately ripped Medina for such ignorant comments

No... the question Of Medinas assocoation with Birthers did not come ‘out of the blue’...rather she was informed prior this would be addressed as there were so many who had alluded to her involvement with the birthers.
Beck was only trying to get the facts straight from the horses mouth. Finally someone asked her and she failed to deliver an answer, rather quite obvious where she was going with her answer. Now she’s trying to backpedal.

I was just listening to John David Wells on KLIF in Dallas. He spoke with Medina regarding this issue. It was an interesting conversation. Sounds to me like she was totally caught off guard and admittedly stumbled through a response. She offered a plausible explanation.

I can’t remember exactly how the conversation went word-for-word, but you can probably find the audio on Wells’ site on klif.com

Even still ... I think this is going to cost her a lot of votes.

He asked the question because he knew she’d waffle on the answer.

i thought he asked it because of the "stream of pro and con emails" he received regarding her... this was a topic that came up in many emails... apparently...

That’s what keeps me from truly believing in many conspiracy theories - they would have to be too big and too many people would have to know, etc...

but - I do think it’s fair to wonder.

“I support a national sales tax that everyone must pay”

There will NOT be a sales tax that everyone must pay.

They will build in the equivalent of “earned income credit,” somehow.

“So you think we service men and government people are just traitors, or not, depending on who the president is?”

No, and I neither said, nor implied, anything of the sort.

Obama could merely not take needed action (e.g., not bomb Iran, not authorize a “take out” of some terrorists, not permit intelligence agencies to share information, not close our Southern border) in order to create the environment where our enemies eventually pull off a devastating attack on us.

We servicemen (and I am formerly among that group) don’t have to be involved at all.

Of course, you know that, and are being difficult.

“You aren’t the brightest person here are you? Steve Forbes, Governor Palin, Dick Armey, that is starting to be a pretty good collection of endorsements, Who are you supporting in that race.”

Anyone who is not a truther, useful fool, or I should say useless fool.

It was a trick question - I know what Ron Paul’s said about the issue.

He is not a Truther.

Maybe you could show us what he has said to make you think he is?

Just realized you are probably talking about Rand Paul, and not Medina. Same response though, as anyone with truthers in their base of support (like Ron Paul, and the acorn does not fall far from the tree), is not a candidate I would support. Hope he loses. We don’t need even more weirdos in Congress. Al Franklin will do in fulfilling that role.

It was a softball question with an easy answer. “No.”

Yes, that would be enough. But even better would be to start in on how the government handled the first World Trade Center bombing, the bombing of two embassies in Africa and the Khobar bombing as police matters, not the acts of war they were.

She could have mentioned ABC's "The Path to 9/11" which Robert Iger has hidden in a vault at Disney, refused to put on DVD and refuses to sell as evidence of who those who refused to take terrorism seriously during the Clinton adminstration are trying to hide their tracks.

Uh yes I heard her too. Lets's see - first it was "technical trouble" and she couldn't hear well. Then it was she "didn't understand the question", then she was "answering a different question" on and on.

KLIF has been a constant Medina syncophant for weeks now. They bash Kay and Perry, then Palin for not endorsing Medina, and now they don't know what to do, so they are bashing Beck, all a setup you know.

One of the best explanations I’ve read is by the great Bill Whittle, in his essay, “Seeing The Unseen, pt. 2” at his website, ejectejecteject.com. His website got overhauled last year and most of his essays got deleted, but it’s still available at the web archive:

http://web.archive.org/web/20070509072531/http://www.ejectejecteject.com/

Scroll down to the entry for April 8, 2007.

Bill’s one of my favorite writers/commentators now, I highly recommend this essay in particular. It’s kinda long, but it’s worth the read.

Did Debra handle the Beck 9/11 ? well, No IMO

Did she clarify her position , yes

“I was asked a question on the Glenn Beck show today regarding my thoughts on the so-called 9/11 truth movement. I have never been involved with the 9/11 truth movement, and there is no doubt in my mind that Muslim terrorists flew planes into those buildings on 9/11. I have not seen any evidence nor have I ever believed that our government was involved or directed those individuals in any way. No one can deny that the events on 9/11 were a tragedy for all Americans and especially those families who lost loved ones.”

I have never heard a 9/11 truther say this

How on Earth can you think there’s any doubt whatsoever that Saudi Arabian Muslim terrorist hijacked those planes and flew them into the Twin Towers??

We have their flight school info, their activities in the US, we have actual FOOTAGE of the planes flying into the towers, we have dozens of phone calls from people on board the planes saying their planes have been hijacked by Muslim terrorists, what more do you want?

Plus, if you’ve ever watched TV shows about demolishing buildings by explosives it takes them MONTHS to tear out the Sheetrock and wall structures, to bore holes in all the beams and to lay explosives everywhere, it’s NOT a simple process and if the CIA had been doing that don’t you think SOMEONE would have noticed??
