Hold on to your hat Cowboy Bob, I think he is headed for a new low...This C-Span business / His own healthcare bill will make the numbers plummet. HE wrote this one. He cannot blame Bush, or anyone else for that matter. I think once it is dissected, he will have lots of explaining to do. It will show in the polls.(I hope)
Real Clear Politics dot com has his overall approval rating at 47.4% approve and 45.6% disapprove. It’s been hanging in this range for a week or so now and seems to have leveled off here. During the health care debate, his numbers plummeted, but have leveled off since then.
I can only hope that when Obama goes down, he takes the media with him. The public really must start to understand that most of what passes as “news” is, in fact, propaganda.
This is dire. Was Nixon ever so low in the ratings?
And Nixon was well into his second term.
>> How in the heck can you move 6 points with a three day average? <<
Just to look at one-half of the Rasmussen “Index,” here are my estimates of the “raw numbers” for Strongly Approve over the last ten days:
Feb. 11 - 23.5
Feb. 12 - 23.5
Feb. 13 - 23.5
Feb. 14 - 26.5
Feb. 15 - 23.0
Feb. 16 - 24.0
Feb. 17 - 32.5
Feb. 18 - 25.5
Feb. 19 - 24.0
Feb. 20 - 20.5
If my math is correct, you can do 3-day moving averages with these numbers, round to the nearest percentage integer (no decimal point), and you’ll get the daily Rasmussen figure for the statistic in question.
I don’t claim absolute accuracy, of course, but perhaps the exercise will give a basic “feeling” of what’s been transpiring lately.
For example, the samples for last night and for the night before the February 17th report would appear to be quite far from the “true numbers.” But that’s probably about what’s to be expected from time to time — when the nightly sample is only 300 respondents.
Next, let’s consider the other half of the “Index,” namely the Strongly Disapprove number. It probably suffers from a lot of multicollinearity with the SA number. So the two components of the Index should tend to move with another on a regular basis, albeit in opposite directions. Hence exaggerated swings such as this morning’s whopping six-point decline are inevitable once in a while.
How can this be? Our messiah in chief should be able to simply give a speech and the sheeple should get in line!
Obama has no clue.....he has no concept of failure or loyalty.
He is a true narcissist. He is self focused and believe he is the true savior to realign America to a socialist nation.
He is focused on self...and any area that is not aligning with his vision has to be because of the failure of someone else......and he will throw them under the bus as soon as he is challenged. He has never been held accountable for anything as he has never done anything.....he has always surrounded himself with the powerful and rich, and flowed along for the ride, taking credit for successes and dodging the accountability for failures.
The growing silence of Obama supporters is an indication that there is a weariness in defending the administration’s failures. Sooner or later the kool-aid wears off and they have to admit that they are disappointed also.
The republicans do need to be much more vocal on the issues....not personal attacks....just the failed policies of this administration.....and they cannot continue to let the liberals blame everything on Bush.....Obama and his team are supposted to be smart...very smart....and as such they should have known exactly what they were getting into when they ran for office. Obama has had time and the votes now get his vision underway....but leadership does not seem to be one of his strengths.....speeches yes, leadership no.
I’m willing to give them a little more time to regroup. I think that the tea parties surprised everyone in Washington, including the Repubs. It took them a while before they figured out the anger of the people (judging by the selection of Dede Sczzafava, RINO Party representative). Scott Brown caught them up real fast! At least now, the Repubs are taking this movement far more seriously than the libs who are trying to demonize a huge group of voters (what a stupid strategy). I wish they would pull it together already, before the Tea party movement gets fed up. Time is not their friend. I thank God for the radio guys too, they need to keep the pressure coming. I’m curious about what will happen next week. It will be pivotal for everyone...
My husband was polled by Rasmussen the day Scott brown was elected.
Can you give us some projections for next week based on this trend? We won’t hold you to it....
What is wrong with Rasumussen?
These are pretty wild fluctuations.
This is going to get very ugly folks—I predict he won’t even run for re-election. The Democratic senators abandoning the sinking ship is a big clue.
Of course, MAO-bama may also be planning no more fair elections and he becomes a permanent Prez ala Chavez.
Both are not good scenarios.
>> Can you give us some projections for next week <<
‘Twould be the height of foolishness on my part!
I will hazard to say, however, that the Indiex’s figure of -17 seems too much out of range to hold in the immediate future. I don’t expect it to average that low over the next seven days — even though a slow, steady decline in Big Ø’s popularity may pull it down to that level after a month or two.
On the other hand:
Some exogenous, totally unexpected event — like a new terrorist attack or a major burp in the financial markets — could easily throw all predictions and projections into the most cocked of hats. In other words, one predicts and projects at ones peril!

Healthcare summit??? Maybe????
I figure that at least 29-35% of the voters are die-hard leftists, who supported bill clinton through thick and thin.
The fact that he has dropped to 23% says to me that he has strongly disillusioned many of these die-hard leftists, probably the looniest of them.
In fact, I know a few such people, and they all hate Obama for betraying them. He said he’d give us gay marriage, but he hasn’t. He said he’d end the war, but he hasn’t. He said he’d give us socialized health care, but he hasn’t. And so on.
In other words, he is unpopular with just about everybody. Half of that 23% that is sticking with him is probably blacks and Muslims. The other half is hopeless idiots on welfare.
But these disillusioned leftists aren’t going to vote Republican. They may stay home, but they aren’t against Obama for the same reasons that we are. Too many broken promises. Stalin and Mao could afford to do that, because if anyone objected, they were off to the death camps. Obama can’t do that—yet.
>> Healthcare summit? <<
Sure, if Big Ø manages to clean the Pubs’ clock the way he did at Baltimore a few weeks ago.
“But these disillusioned leftists arent going to vote Republican. They may stay home,”
I’m O.K. with that !!!! Actually I have friends who were republicans that crossed over to vote for him ( they are just short of suicidal at this point). He lied to everyone.
” Sure, if Big Ø manages to clean the Pubs clock the way he did at Baltimore a few weeks ago. “
Lightning won’t strike twice, no matter how much his ego convinces him that it will. It only worked because they didn’t know whether it would or not. They are entering this expecting to “win”. That, I believe, will be their biggest miscalculation.
