I want to open a discussion about how to set up an infrastructure for civil disobedience in refusing to pay the extortionate policy increases coming.
One model I have become acquainted with during some family history research is the Italian Fraternal Societies in Colorado in the 1890's. Members paid dues; and when one got sick, the society helped with medical expenses.
Successful experiments in this regard typically involve a fairly tight knit community who knows most everyone and can tell when someone is taking advantage.
My suggestion would be to start talking Dr's into becoming contracted providers to a coop. That is, a primary care physician would work mostly for the coop members. Members would pay regular fees and would be entitled to some level of care. This would be for-cash work, so prices would stay reasonable.
The big issue is catastrophic coverage. I'm not sure how to work that (and that is what Obama wants to get rid of).
The idea is very ill formed to date. But it seems to me we ought to be able to create local private structures that are fraternal organizations, not insurance companies. Then when we tell the IRS to buzz off, we don't have health insurance, we have a fallback.
Anyone have any thoughts or experience in this regard?
My thoughts are the the Feds will eventually outlaw any such ideas. Only payments through Obama approved insurance rackets will be accepted for medical services.

Given the Senate fines are so small it makes more sense just to pay the fines (additional taxes) and sign up when you get sick which will raise premiums. Eventually democrats will demonize the uninsured and up the fines with public opinion support. That is how incremental socialism works. NYS is a perfect example.

This will go in stages. They will try to outlaw outside groups, just as Canada and Great Britain have, but we need to leapfrog the process. Instead of going through 60 years of British health history, look up how they skirt the law.
I believe that the Amish use a similar system. The key concept seems to be a community working together for the medical needs of their own.
I know of one Christian organization that does this. I have also seen one Freeper mention another, the name of which escapes me.

It’s actually a fascinating idea. It works in society where there is no trust in Govt or institutions, such as banks.
Taiwanese, even until recently, would commonly be involved in something called a “Hui” which is a type of informal banking. Each member of a group would contribute a monthly amount to a pot, and each member would collect the pot one time. Usually the amount would increase as time went on. Those needing cash early could take the pot, and the increasing payments they paid in served as payments of principle plus interest. Conversely, for those members who waited until the end to collect would effectly earn interest for waiting to use their money.

I’d go for something like that if it was reasonably well-organized. And actually, and large number of the wacky-sounding fraternal organizations that flourished in the 19th and early 20th centuries had a major insurance component. Even the ones with silly costumes and rituals and preposterous titles and oaths of secrecy. We need to recall something of the original function of these oaths of secrecy — it may be time to resurrect them, for slightly different purposes (i.e. not just group loyalty/bonding, but keeping government meddlers in the dark).
I’d also like to see doctors and other health care providers join groups that pledge not to deal with government or government-controlled or governemnt-approved insurance programs at all. At first, this would almost certainly need to be limited to those who have retired or were about to (others wouldn’t be able to take the financial hit). I’d just really like the option to go a doctor who is employed solely by his/her patients, so I can know that there are no intermediaries standing between me and the doctor.
I also think that this is a great opportunity for some Indian tribes to start putting their reservations to better use than tobacco and gambling. If they start setting up hospitals and healthcare “malls” that operate on pay-up-front basis, don’t deal with the federal system at all, and keep malpractice claims in tribal courts, they could really thrive.

“Prescription Drugs” becomes “Ingest-able bio-chemical stabilizers”
“Doctors” become “Body Mechanics”

That is AWESOME!!!!! I mean they get around the cigarette taxes quite nicely, and the gambling laws, why not get around the health care stuff as well!!!!!

There once was a sovereign nation, it was called the CSA. Based on what everyone is talking about now -— states rights.
I like the idea of civil disobedience in massive numbers on any number of issues that Obama succeeds in jamming down the throats of Americans.
In order to be successful huge numbers are needed (ten million or more). In order to attract those numbers, a very clear set of purposes must be understood. Slogans are good, but infrastructure is essential.
The infrastructure must have a communications security and backup reliability, and there must be some command ability in the sense that members need to be alerted to a disobedience event.
Here are some infrastructure ideas:
1. A secret bank for members, complete anonymity and security setup and cloaked offshore. (Yes like Soros)
2. A secure website setup offshore with proxy servers that are deep and broad, and auto assigned if another is blocked or jammed.
3. An ongoing retainer of strategic nationwide law firms with backup firms available in case one is compromised.
Here are some disobedience events:
1. Heave stacks of bibles into federal courts and federal buildings.
2. Set up religious icons and symbols en masse in every federal government owned plaza. Soap graffitti is good to use.
3. Plan protests without permit, show up and have scouts alert protestors when law enforcement are coming, then disburse and inform another group of protestors to start without permit at another location; repeat.
It could be done through a church organization. But you would have to limit the benefits to church members and make tithing a requirement for membership. If any member has a critical medical condition, the church would then cover any expenses that exceeded their ability to pay.
