Scores of gangbangers marauded through Times Square and nearby streets last night, storming businesses and harrassing pedestrians as three people were shot in possibly related violence. Hundreds of cops struggled to disperse the youths. One man was shot in the ankle on West 41st Street between Seventh and Eighth avenues. Early this morning two people were shot at 34th Street between Seventh and Eighth avenues. Their conditions were not immediately known. Twenty young men were seen fleeing the scene. * * * At least 30 people, including seven juveniles, were arrested by early this morning. In past years, the NYPD and businesses have beefed up security in the area on Easter Sunday, which has become known in certain circles as "Gang Initiation Day."

“Welcome to Obamas America.”
You got that right. You can’t put millions of people out of work with the highest percentages of those in the inner cities without civil unrest. The city centers will continue to degrade. The police will be cut back due to budget constraints. Pretty soon you will have parts of American cities where the police will simply refuse to go (as in parts of Mexico City today). The entitlement class will revert to rioting to take what what they feel is owed them when they figure out Obama was simply lying to them in order to get elected.

There's a holdup in the Bronx, Brooklyn's broken out in fights. There's a traffic jam in Harlem that's backed up to Jackson Heights. There's a school bus short a child, Krushchev's due at Idlewilde....

Nah, been there, seen that.
I was in the 2nd grade when my LEO dad had to come home one night and get his personal shotgun during the festivities of 1968.
Regardless of the Shocked and Awed perception our would-owners would like to create, we're not anywhere near the situation that existed from '67 to '72. NOT EVEN CLOSE.

Yes.
Amazing that all of America could see this pic, and still have 53% vote for the guy, and elect him ...
Perhaps, unlike us inner city dudes, they did not know what it meant?
Or knew and didn’t care?
America !!!

Well, yeah. Getting shot in the ankle and being murdered is kind of different. I assume your post was sarcastic.
In a city of over 8 million, people are bound to get shot.

>>Ah, the post-racial society we were promised. Nirvana!
I remember when the first black kids were experimentally placed into our elementary school in urban NorthWest Denver.
Somewhere in a box in my parent's basement is a photo of a 2nd grade class of 32 - with precisely 1 black male and 1 black female.
They were accepted and treated with respect.
I often wondered how it would have been if the ratios had been reversed; and that was pretty much answered when...

That’s OK, it’s too long to fit in the tagline box. It’s brilliant, nonetheless.

It’s starting for Bloomie now. He’s got a short leash to get control of this anarchy now or NYC is going to quickly descend back to its 70s depravity. Money is a real problem. He’s lost 5K cops in the last year, and the NYPD has dedicated much $$ and personnel to anti terror. Stuff like last night is not controlled by Hercules units with M4s, but by patrol cops with night sticks and handcuffs in large numbers. Commish Kelly and Mayor for life Bloomie will have to make a choice of how to allocate resources and they don’t have a lot of time.

Anyone know what time this occurred? It could have been at the exact time a cop was telling me that if there was violence in Jennings, Louisiana, it wouldn’t spread to New York City.

They were prepared, according to the article. It was just bigger than they thought it would be.

They haven’t been deteriorating. Although this happened for the previous four years, it was smaller and geared to the auto show. Obviously, news of the Philly flash mobs has made them competitive. “We’re badder than they are.” And the black youth have been armed since befoe the 2008 elections. That’s another thing that’s new.
