PORTAGE -- Two college students heading to Salt Lake City were hurt when a gun discharged inside their vehicle near the Utah-Idaho border.
Four male students from Brigham Young University-Idaho were traveling south on Interstate 15 to attend the LDS General Conference in Salt Lake City, authorities say.
Around noon, in the front passenger seat, a man identified as Sterling Glines, 24, of Arizona, was examining his .40-caliber Glock.
The vehicle had just crossed the border into Utah, and Glines reportedly was explaining how the gun wouldn't fire if the slide was pushed back when the weapon discharged a single shot.
The bullet went through Glines' left hand and hit the forearm of the driver, identified as Ben Baugh, 23, of American Fork. The bullet also struck the driver's side door just below the window.
One of the men called 911.
Glines and Baugh were taken to Bear River Valley Hospital in Tremonton. The injuries aren't believed to be life-threatening, said Utah Highway Patrol Lt. Lee Perry.
Authorities say Glines has a concealed weapons permit issued by Arizona. The other two men in the car, a 21-year-old man from Pocatello, Idaho, and a 23-year-old man from Tooele, were not hurt.
UHP is investigating.

I started out with a nine until my son made fun of me. His job is shooting and initially they had them using .9mm’s because that was the official side arm the Marines were issuing a few years back. It took all of two weeks to issue the Spec Ops guys .45’s. The way he put it was, “you might as well thrown the .9mm as shoot it.
So I split the difference and got the .40 almost the punch of the .45, lighter and holds more rounds. Still like it and will probably buy the Glock 27 before it's over right now I have the Glock 22.
What does “mocerate” mean?

"I'm the only one here professional enough to carry a Glock 40...." BANG!
I loved that video...
Prayers up for these two, and I sure hope they learned something.

his .40-caliber Glock.
Methinks Glock needs to reexamine their motto: "Perfection".
Almost every story with an AD/ND is a Glock.
Yes, I know, I know.....follow the 4 rules. That being said, please tell me why a safety is a bad thing? If I walked around with my 1911 in Condition Zero, people would call me nuts, and probably rightfully so. Yet this is how Glocks are carried everyday.

I carry a .40 Glock and the only way it goes off is a finger on a trigger.
Technically, not true.
I have read at least one account of a person reholstering his Glock and a shirt getting caught in the trigger, making the gun discharge. Could never happen with my Kimber as it has a thumb safety AND a grip safety.
For anyone who thinks Glocks are safe, I simply would ask, woyuld you walk around grocery store/mall with a 1911 in Condition Zero?
There is no Condition 1 on a Glock.

Always keep the gun unloaded until ready to use
WTH does that mean? Walk around with an empty gun undtil the criminal has his gun in your face?

though I am unworthy to do so,It seems that from the beginning, MORMONism has had problems with guns that misfire.

As they say gun safety is my first thought and only thought and I keep my finger off the trigger. I could see a shirt getting tangled in the trigger of a Glock though.
I tend not to keep one in the pipe, purely based on where I am. Probably not the best method, but one I'm comfortable with.

Two college students heading to Salt Lake City were hurt when a gun discharged inside their vehicle near the Utah-Idaho border. The thread I read yesterday said that guns were not allowed on BYU campus.

Depends on the Sig. My Sig Pro had (before that terrible boating accident where I lost all my firearms) no safety, just a decocking lever. You were FISHING with all of your FIREARMs?
Did you go back to 'fish' with a big MAGNET?

Accidental discharge. What, the gun sneezed? Take it outside the camp. It will be unclean until evening.

“check the pipe”
See, here’s part of the problem. You didn’t specify which end to check from....and people get confused.

Apparently you don't have to be one of the sharper tools in the shed to get into BYU.
True; as you GET sharp by attending there...

“Another Glock Spontaneously Discharges BUMP!”
Ironically, their Toyota Prius brakes failed at the same moment as the accelerator got stuck and the Glock spontaneously discharged.

It might be a factor of statistics too. How many kids with their new license/permit buy a glock because it is glamorized in their rapper thug lifestyles? You see rap videos of thugs carrying glocks in absurd positions (google Homeboy Nite Sytes) and have to think that has something to do with it.
My glock goes off when I pull the trigger. Which overcomes the three internal safeties.

If you are planning to "carry"
then you are ready to use the gun:
LOAD IT !
If you are planning to store your guns in your safe,
unload them and prepare them for storage.
All this is explained in any Basic NRA firearms training class.
