Indeed there may be a well documented history of harmful levels of salt in processed foods.
And so the intention to reduce salt levels in processed foods may be well-intentioned.
But ... this is an issue of health awareness and promotion versus regulation. It may be a role of government to promote the general welfare through education but to force compliance is a different matter.
I have nothing against the government mandating packaging requirements to call out the amount of salt versus what is recommended. I would also support a public awareness campaign to reveal the documented harmful effects of too much salt or effects of different types of salts.
Don't give them any ideas.
After that, you go to line "B" with a card that shows you paid the sugar tax.
After that, you go to line "C"...etc, etc
Yeah, but your food and lifestyle choices will affect your burden on the healthcare system,
therefore, we need to tell you how to live.

....from my cold, dead hands ...
;o)
Sounds like we should be buying salt by the case at the grocery to stockpile for later.
“Soma rations”
There were two predictions in literature.
1984 predicted we’d be enslaved by an external entity.
Brave New World predicted we’d enslave ourselves to pleasures.
#2 has proven more accurate so far.
Look at some old news clips from the 1950's+ or so (the clips from the Kennedy assignation have big crowds). You'll be hard pressed to find a fat person. They ate comfort food - real, natural foods like meat, cheese, salt, sugar, milk, and butter. They also fed this food to their children.
Now watch the news and look at the crowds. You'll be hard pressed to find a thin person. These are the people who have been listening to the politically correct diet dictators. Notice the difference. Look at their children.
It’s not about salt, sugar, fat, carbon dioxide, gasoline, health care, savings, debt, or any other issue. It’s about a socialist lust for power in which Obama and Pelosi want to control every aspect of our lives for the sake of raw power. I hope all the tyrant-wannabe socialists in Congress and in our White House join the ranks of the unemployed . . . soon.
Where am I going to stockpile salt?
The sugar and incandescent lightbulbs are taking up half my basement, and the other half is filled with ammo :).
Lunch was usually a peanut butter or bologna sandwich.
Snacks were homemade cookies or cake. Cereal WITH LOTSA SUGAR for breakfast because all we had was plain cereal. Very little oatmeal...because it was yuk!!
I can see why you call yourself Hostage.
They won't get my salty nuts until they pry them from my cold lifeless hands
.
Damn. I never thought of that. My bad.
Regards Bart.
This artificially made and artificially financed (taxes) sweeteners introduction into our food supply perfectly tracks on a graph with the rise in diabetes & obesity.
First they came for the smoker...and I didn’t speak up because I wasn’t a smoker...
....Here’s your Card....
This is a multipronged assalt on us again.
cream of wheat, milk toast and prune juice
You are right! We may be looking at the new menus at the fast food restaurants if I don’t shut up!
this is what I am so afraid of...right now they is the trying to control salt (is ANYONE believing this crap? This is SURREAL!)
But consider that the health killing measures uhbama and his team of marxists have enacted will also have unelected bureaucrats making LAWS about personal health care-that might include NO MEDICATION OR SERVICE at ALL. In other words, DEATH if your problem is not worth the costs to some marxist 24 year old health care czar in an office in DC.
OUR CONGRESS had better act IMMEDIATELY to remind the President that these groups CAN NOT MAKE LAW! Groups like the EPA or the Federal Food Administration! RIGHT NOW! They do not have the right to MAKE LAW over the American people.ONLY THE CONGRESS HAS THAT RIGHT AS STATED IN OUR CONSTITUTION.
Uhbama better take his silly knowledge of community organization and stuff it and sit his ass down and READ THE CONSTITUTION.
THAT IS THE DOCUMENT HE HAS SWORN TO DEFEND!
Q: Doctor, I've heard that cardiovascular exercise can prolong life. Is this true?
A: Your heart only good for so many beats, and that it...don't waste on exercise. Everything wear out eventually. Speeding up heart not make you live longer; it like saying you extend life of car by driving faster. Want to live longer? Take nap.
Q: Should I cut down on meat and eat more fruits and vegetables?
A: You must grasp logistical efficiency. What does cow eat? Hay and corn. And what are these? Vegetables. So steak is nothing more than efficient mechanism of delivering vegetables to your system. Need grain? Eat chicken. Beef also good source of field grass (green leafy vegetable). And pork chop can give you 100% of recommended daily allowance of vegetable product.
Q: Should I reduce my alcohol intake?
A: No, not at all. Wine made from fruit. Brandy is distilled wine, that mean they take water out of fruity bit so you get even more of goodness that way. Beer also made of grain. Bottom up!
Q: How can I calculate my body/fat ratio?
A: Well, if you have body and you have fat, your ratio one to one. If you have two bodies, your ratio two to one, etc.
Q: What are some of the advantages of participating in a regular exercise program?
A: Can't think of single one, sorry. My philosophy is: No pain...good!
Q: Aren't fried foods bad for you?
A: YOU NOT LISTENING! Food are fried these day in vegetable oil. In fact, they permeated by it. How could getting more vegetable be bad for you?!?
Q: Will sit-ups help prevent me from getting a little soft around the middle?
A: Definitely not! When you exercise muscle, it get bigger. You should only be doing sit-up if you want bigger stomach.
Q: Is chocolate bad for me?
A: Are you crazy?!? HER-RO-O!! Cocoa bean! Another vegetable! It best feel-good food around!
Q: Is swimming good for your figure?
A: If swimming good for your figure, explain whale to me..
Q: Is getting in shape important for my lifestyle?
A: Hey! 'Round' a shape!
Well, I hope this has cleared up any misconceptions you may have had about food and diets.
And remember:
Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways - Chardonnay in one hand - chocolate in the other - body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming "WOO-HOO, what a ride!!"
AND.....
For those of you who watch what you eat, here's the final word on nutrition and health. It's a relief to know the truth after all those conflicting nutritional studies.
1. The Japanese eat very little fat and suffer fewer heart attacks than us.
2. The Mexicans eat a lot of fat and suffer fewer heart attacks than us.
3. The Chinese drink very little red wine and suffer fewer heart attacks than us.
4. The Italians drink a lot of red wine and suffer fewer heart attacks than us.
5. The Germans drink a lot of beer and eat lots of sausages and fats and suffer fewer heart attacks than us.
CONCLUSION: Eat and drink what you like. Speaking English is apparently what kills you.
