A question for birthers: why Mombassa?
Vanity | Me

Posted on 05/12/2010 8:47:16 AM PDT by curiosity

The origin of modern myths and legends is a side interest of mine, the birther myths among them.

Now I understand why Obama being born in Kenya made it into your belief system, despite it being physically impluasible (requiring around 5 days and five flights, most on propeller planes) and financially impossible (it would have cost about a year of her parents' combined salaries) for Stanley Ann & Obama Sr. to travel there for her to give birth. After all, Obama's Father was from Kenya, so if you are going to make up a myth about Obama being born abroad, what better place than Kenya?

Implausibilty, and even impossiblilty doesn't deter the making of myths if there is a strong emotional reason to believe them, as in this case.

What I don't understand is, of all possible places in Kenya, why make Mombassa the birthplace in your myth? If you look at the map of Kenya, it's on the other end of the country from Obama Sr.'s village, 762 miles away, which would make it a minimum 2 day train ride. Probably longer, since Kenyan trains were very fast in 1961.

I suppose you could argue that there were no hospitals in Obama's village, so they had to travel to a major city. But Nairobi was closer, and more modern.

So why Mombassa? Not only is it completely implausible; I don't see the emotional appeal. Why Mombasssa rather than his father's village? Or why Mombassa rather than Nairobi?

Help me out here, birthers. Why do you reserve this special place for Mombassa in your belief system?

McCarthy is like “Satan” in the liberal playbook. I heard the name when I was growing up (family was ultra leftist).

The doctor (begins with an “A” - I left the name out because I can’t remember how to spell it) was actually traveling around Africa with a vaccination program he headed. He was one of the doctors in attendance at the birth. The name also has an apostrophe in it, IIRC. A thread here dug into his whereabouts versus his name being on the Smith BC and the conclusion was - nothing ruled it out. I think the proximity of the doctor and Obama Sr. was later in life, not at the time of the birth of BO. Or maybe it was prior to...darn brain can’t remember which :-).

IIRC they lived near each other in the ‘70s. At some point the doctor (canNOT remember his name, first began with “J” I think, last name was an African name strange to me) waw murdered.

James Ang’awa

President Obama’s birth doctor, James Ang’awa, was neighbors with Barack Obama Senior in the 1960s

That’s the correct link for the thread - the other one was a page I’d bookmarked for a post in the thread.

Perhaps the ‘sanity’ is explained here:

Your post at 710 is one of the most horrible things I have ever read at Free Republic. You argue for accepting gross falsehoods and mistaken law all for the good of “party unity.” Stalin would have loved you!

And, as far as:

“Thanks CG. I’ve thought about and have mulled over all of the “excuses” and “motives” and the simple fact is that none of it ever adds up.”

Let me give you a real, simple answer:

THE TRUTH MATTERS.

(Cheers for “parsi” over on Politijab - he’s playing for his fans in the peanut gallery over there!)

Truth, mm hmm. Yeah.

Ah, neighbors in the ‘60s. You remembered rightly about the “A” and the “’”.

Good memory.

I know! I’m with Natural Born 54 on this one - they are hence forth in my view to be treated as enemies of the state. Definitely enemies of freedom without question.

Their goal is nothing less than censorship, ridicule, suppression of any evidence that contradicts their pre-conceived viewpoints, deception, distortion, outright lies.....I can go on an on here. All of these have been the tools used by totalitarian governments (and the puppets of totalitarian governments) throughout history.

You got a lot of nerve calling anybody a “bot.” What’s y’alls little mantra? Let’s see:

“Even if you think us (Birfers) are wrong, you’re NOT supposed to say so, because we are after Obama! And, that makes everything OKAY! The end justifies the means, doncha know!”

C’mon. You know better than this.

(Plus, you knuckleheads may get Vattel a lot more than you want one of these days. IIRC, Vattel was against 2nd Amendment type rights. I sure hope a court don’t think he had too big an influence with the founders.)

You’ve got a lot of nerve to be ridiculing free republic over at politijab and then lurking back over here pretending to be a conservative.

You are far more than just a bot - you’re a paid hireling by the communist in chief.

You didn’t answer the question: Got a raise yet? How much are the marxists paying you now?

What a happy little world you must live in! You get to spew whatever nonsense you want, and anybody who disagrees is a commie or something. Nice work if you can get it.

Tell you what. If you ever think you have anything germane to add to a discussion, please feel free to give me a holler. But if all you want do is call names, go find somebody else to assault. Leave me alone and quit wasting my time with silly crap.

BTW, commiegramma, I just went to politjab and I can’t find a search thing or a membership list. How do you get to do that there? Am I doing something wrong? Can I borrow your name and password?

“Parsifal”

• Wagner’s spelling of Parsifal instead of the Parzival he had used up to 1877 is informed by an erroneous etymology of the name Percival deriving it from a supposedly Arabic origin, Fal Parsi meaning “pure fool”. (Wiki)

• “Parsifal is a work of perfidy, of vindictiveness, of a secret attempt to poison the presuppositions of life - a bad work.” (Friedrich Nietzsche)

• “I despise everyone who does not experience Parsifal as an attempted assassination of basic ethics.” (Friedrich Nietzsche)

• Some writers see in Parsifal the promotion of racism or anti-semitism as Wagner wrote that he “regarded the Jewish race as the born enemy of pure humanity and everything noble about it.”

Hmmmmm.

If Friedrich Nietzsche doesn’t like you, it’s probably a good thing. But, like the typical Birfer, you don’t do your homework.

Hmmmmm.

He doesn’t like that people found out that he not only is registered on Politijab but has a peanut gallery of admirers. He has groupies! They love how he slams us on FR!

Someone sent me a page from there.

Ya thank? I’m pretty subtle about it though, ain’t I. I mean, a person would just never know where I stand on this Birfer stuff, would they? What gave me away? Was it the “Sanity Squad”? The pictures of the Birfer Borg Units? My “Captain Quest” super-hero personna? Maybe the “Ode to Orly Taitz.”
