Glenn Beck Requests Information Download on Maurice Strong (Vanity)
Fox News ^ | 12 May 2010 | Glenn Beck

Posted on 05/12/2010 6:32:02 PM PDT by Errant

Glenn Beck tonight requested everyone watching the show to begin downloading everything possible on a Mr. Maurice Strong. According to Beck, Maurice Strong is one of the "Big Fish" involved in the global warming scam.

Beck requested the information download to prevent operatives "hinting at the Whitehouse" from scrubbing the internet of relevant information concerning Mr. Strong.

Cloak of Green: The Links between Key Environmental Groups, Government and Big Business

Product Description
Most concerned citizens trust environmental groups to fight on behalf of the public for sensible solutions to the world’s most pressing problems. But Elaine Dewar discovered that this trust is often misplaced.

In this book the award-winning journalist explores links between key environmental groups, government and big business. Written like a mystery, Cloak of Green follows the author from a Toronto fundraiser for the Kayapo Indians of Brazil to the Amazon rainforest and the global backrooms of Brasilia, Washington and Geneva. Along the way she meets some fascinating people—Anita Roddick of the Body Shop, businessman-politican Maurice Strong, and activists who run key Canadian and American environmental groups. She discovers some disturbing revelations about these groups and their relations to “green” corporations and government.

Cloak of Green is a penetrating investigative study that challenges many established pieties of the environmental movement.

Bump searching and coping to separate locations. We need to be contacting our repersentives and demanding that they stop this scam and return the money to the people. This has never anywhere and have proof it doesn't and that this is criminal activity and all involved will be prosecuted.

1958 went to Kenya to work for Cal Tex on oil exploitation. There he discovered the environment to be a wonderful issue to promote himself. ...interesting connection & possible dots to BHO Sr: Kenya, oil, 1958

So we very well might have a manchurian candidate on our hands. Bred for this position.

Roger Simon’s Mystery

###

Excerpt:

OK. It’s tinfoil hat time. Roger Simon begins with a mystery. Where is the Oil for Food investigation going?

I know - this blog seems obsessed with the Oil-for-Food scandal, but it is one of the greatest mysteries of our time and this blog is written by a mystery writer. And, as with any good mystery, you never know the identity of Mr. Big until the very last minute. Of course, in this case it has seemed for some time that Mr. Big’s initial (pace Kafka) would be K. But who knows? There are nooks and crannies as far North as Ontario now. Surprises could occur.

Ontario? Does anything spooky ever happen in Ontario?

In this case, maybe. Here’s a chart I drew up based on known connections. A Canadian high-ranking UN official named Maurice Strong has resigned after being accused to being one of two officials who Saddam bagman Tongsun Park met. According to the Washington Post:

UNITED NATIONS, April 20 — The United Nations’ special envoy to North Korea, Maurice F. Strong, decided Wednesday to step aside until U.N.-appointed investigators and federal prosecutors finish examining his financial ties to a South Korean lobbyist accused of trying to bribe U.N. officials. The move comes less than a week after federal authorities charged Tongsun Park, a South Korean businessman, with lobbying U.N. officials as an “unregistered agent” of Saddam Hussein.

A witness said Park in 1996 and 1997 invested $1 million in Iraqi funds in a Canadian company owned by the son of a high-ranking U.N. official, a federal investigator said. Strong, a Canadian entrepreneur and environmentalist, acknowledged Monday that Park had invested money in a business he was “associated with” in 1997 and later advised him on his dealings with Pyongyang.

However, this same Maurice Strong has connections to Paul Martin, the Prime Minister of Canada who is now being accused of presiding over a decades long corruption scandal and to the French-Canadian Demarais family which have strong monetary connections to Total Elf Aquitane, which is alleged to have dealings with Saddam Hussein and BNP Paribas, the official bank of the Oil-For-Food program. The Guardian reported on April 6, 2003:

An Anglo-Iraqi billionaire who has close links to the Blair government, built his financial empire on peddling his influence with Saddam Hussein’s Baathist regime - the Observer can reveal. ... Auchi was arrested last week in connection with a £26 million kickback scandal involving the French oil giant Elf-Aquitaine.

His arrest is the latest spectacular twist in a story that spans three continents and involves an attempted assassination, two of Europe’s largest political corruption scandals and a series of multi-million pound oil and arms deals with Saddam Hussein.

An Observer investigation can today reveal how a man who built his fortune on secretive deals with the Iraqi regime came to mix with ministers in the Blair government.

*snip*

A UN official said Mr Strong was in the Dominican Republic recuperating from pneumonia and would be making no public comments.

Mr Annan, asked if he had known of the relationship between Mr Strong and Park, said he was not aware of it. Mr Strong was also a member of the board of Air Harbour Technologies, along with Mr Annan’s son, Kojo Annan, whom the UN is also investigating for possible conflicts of interest in the award of an oil-for-food contract to Cotecna, a Swiss company that employed him. — Sydney Morning Herald

Maurice Strong 68, and his wife, Hanne, fancy themselves quite the environmental couple.

He was chairman of the far-out Earth Council, earning the nickname Father Earth. In 1992 he orchestrated the United Nations Earth Sumniit, which called on the developed world to fork over, for its environmental sins, $600 billion to the Third World. Together the Strongs run the private Manitou Foundation.

A gathering place for religious sects (Hanne is into “spiritual interests”), it backs, among other things, research into ethnobotany-the interactions between humans and plants. ... Nevertheless, Strong’s a chap to be reckoned with. Congress says that without belt-tightening the U.N. can kiss good-bye $I.’3 billion in back U.S. dues.

He is the driving force behind a U.N. reorganization plan aimed at dealing with Congress’ objections. ... Strong is up to his eyeballs in Molten Metal Technology, a busted handler of hazardous waste notorious for its flaky technology and ties to presidential hopeful Al Gore (FORBES, Jan. 22, 1996 and Apr. 21, 1997).

A big contributor to Gore’s campaigns, Molten Metals has surfaced in the Senate hearings on corrupt campaign financing. ... So how did Strong come to be picked to reengineer the U.N.? The way we hear it, former secretary general Boutros Boutros-Ghali wanted to recruit someone close to the current Administration.

Strong, Al Gore’s pal, fit the bill. Boutros-Ghali was tossed out last year, but his successor, Kofi Annan, allowed Strong to stay on.

Much more here, including Volker

Winds of Change

http://www.windsofchange.net/archives/defense_department_inspector_general_on_iraqi_cell_phones.html

has a link to a report by the Inspector General into Mobile Telecommunications Licenses in Iraq dated May 11, 2004. The preliminary report (PDF here)(((LINK GONE)))

contains fresh detail into the background and activities of Nadhmi Auchi.

Wikileak (((LINK GONE))) repeats much of the speculation about Auchi in open source: he “has been tied to illegal activities in Iraq and France, and Democratic presidential candidate Sen. Barack Obama.”

However that may be, while the report prepared for the International Armament and Technology Trade Directorate, Office of Deputy Undersecretary of Defense (International Technology Security), of the US Department of Defense contains no information on the connection, if any between Auchi and Obama, it contains plenty of information about the modus operandi of Nadhmi Auchi. The report said their investigation had:

brought to the surface, among many other things, the name of Nadhmi Auchi, an Iraqi billionaire who has played a role in the Iraqi-European arms trade for over two decades, and who, behind the facade of legitimate business, served as Saddam Hussein’s principal international financial manipulator and bag man. (page 3/146)

Auchi was suspected of trying to “bribe foreign governments and individuals prior to Operation Iraqi Freedom to turn opinion against the American-led mission to remove Saddam Hussein”; “arrange for significant theft from the UN Oil-for-Food Program to smuggle weapons and dual-use technology into Iraq” and “organize an elaborate scheme to take over and control the post-war cellular phone system in Iraq.”

It was no surprise that the Auchi “set off instant alarms in IATT when it was discovered that he had managed to manipulate the U.S.- and British-sponsored cellular telephone tender under the auspices of the Coalition Provisional Authority (CPA) by having nominal or beneficial ownership of a major part of the equity in two of the winning licenses, and through a complex arrangement, a controlling interest in all three licenses. The investigation which underlay this report was triggered by universal complaints that the tender process had been rigged and that the process lacked transparency. ”

The Inspector General’s report describes how Auchi fixed the the tender.

It fleshes out the sketchy portrait of the man who may have provided the backing for Tony Rezko’s ill-fated bid to construct the “a $150 million Chamchamal Power Plant in Kurdish Iraq”, a relationship described in greater detail my article

Obama’s Shifting Positions in Iraq: a Rezko Connection?

http://pajamasmedia.com/blog/tony-rezko-and-obamas-shifting-positions-on-iraq/

In that piece, I noted that Rezko’s statements to the court during his recent trial admitted that he had no money to undertake the project. His only source of ready funds appeared to Auchi.

When the judge pressed for details Mr. Joseph Duffy, of Stetler & Duffy, spoke for his client, “there was a request for purchase by the Iraqi government. Mr. Rezko and an engineering firm here in the state of Illinois put together a bid, along with other entities; and, then, they won the bid for the contract. The company has no assets. They were just going to — if the contract was given, as I understand the financing was going to be a letter of credit — letter of credit from the Iraqi government and other financing; and then, they were going to put together someone to build or supply the electricity. …

According to court documents, Mr. Rezko’s lawyer said his client had “longstanding indebtedness” to Mr. Auchi’s GMH. By June 2007 he owed it $27.9 million.

Under a Loan Forgiveness Agreement described in court, Mr. Auchi lent Mr. Rezko $3.5 million in April 2005 and $11 million in September 2005, as well as the $3.5 million transferred in April 2007.

A posting last week on a GMH-owned website, middle-east-online.com, portrayed Mr. Auchi as a Middle Eastern “Donald Trump” with a global business construction empire. Mr. Auchi visited the United States in 2004.

Pictures show him meeting Emil Jones, the president of the Illinois state senate, an ally of Mr. Obama, a former state senator.

Obama’s Mansion, Saddam’s Money

Excerpt:

Rezko too has extensive legal problems, starting with a June 2008 conviction on sixteen counts of taking kickbacks from companies wanting to do business with the State of Illinois. He also stands accused of evading Las Vegas gambling debts and using false information in the sale of his pizza businesses. In contrast to Auchi’s wealth, Rezko is said to be over $50 million in debt.

In three steps, these corrupt businessmen tie the Democratic Party presidential candidate to the executed Iraqi tyrant:

1.

Saddam Hussein made use of Auchi: Auchi’s fortune largely grew through his Iraq government connection, much of it sub rosa. In the 1980s, he procured Italian military ships. By 1993, the Italian banker Pierfrancesco Pacini Battaglia testified about Auchi bribing Iraqi officials for an Italian engineering company and called Auchi “one of the most important intermediaries in the affairs of Middle Eastern countries.” Auchi is also a major shareholder in BNP Paribas, the French bank deeply implicated in the U.N.’s corrupt Iraq oil-for-food program.

2.

Auchi made use of Rezko: Rezko lobbied for Auchi to be allowed into the United States. A wholly-owned GMHSA subsidiary, Fintrade Services Inc., transferred a loan of $3.5 million on May 23, 2005 to Rezko.

3.

Rezko cultivated Obama: Rezko offered Barack Obama a job in 1990, which Obama declined. Still, Rezko persisted, hiring him for legal work and hosting in 2003 an early fundraiser that, writes David Mendell in Obama: From Promise to Power, proved “instrumental in providing Obama with seed money” for his nascent U.S. Senate campaign. Then, on June 15, 2005, just twenty-three days after receiving Auchi’s $3.5 million, Rezko partnered with Obama in a real estate deal: while Rezko’s wife paid the full asking price, $625,000, for an empty adjoining lot which they then improved, subdivided, and partially sold to Obama, Obama acquired a mansion for $1.65 million, $300,000 under the asking price.

Summing up: Barack Obama’s house purchase depended on favors from Rezko, flush with a “loan” from Auchi, whose fortune derived in part from Saddam Hussein’s favor.

The Volcker report documents how Sevan and Frechette ignored direct complaints from Sweden, Austria, The Netherlands, Japan and Canada that kickbacks were being demanded.

Sevan is hiding out on Cyprus (no extradition treaty with the U.S.) and Jeez Louise is sucking back Chablis at taxpayer expense looking for re-appointment. In fairness, Volcker does also expose the fact that the inspection of goods contract was removed from Lloyds, a British company, in 1998 and awarded to Cotechna, a company that deliberately and directly used Kofi Annan’s son Kojo as a highly paid ‘consultant’ to miraculously replace Lloyd’s.

Any honest person capable of reading the English language would conclude that Kofi Annan was at least involved, perhaps unwittingly, in helping Cotechna in its bid to get the lucrative contract yet even this conclusion is beyond Mr. Volcker and his investigation.

Obviously the Bank was the most critical component of the program. The Bank chosen, BNP Paribas, was actually not even among the banks originally recommended for consideration by UN staff after initial proposals were received.

It was, however, specifically requested by Saddam, reinforced by Samir Vincent and his ‘friends’. Somehow, BNP Paribas got approved and the largest corruption scandal in history was on its way.

BNP Paribas made over $1B in profit from its role in the Oil for Food program. There is simply no question that the Oil for Food scandal could not have happened as it did if BNP had done what it was supposed to do.

Evidence before Congressional Committees now confirms that BNP routinely ignored unauthorized ‘vendors’ receiving money and Iraqi ‘surcharge’ (kickback) demands. Congressional investigators have also unearthed incontrovertible evidence that sale of Iraqi oil was used to fund companies and individuals with explicit Al Qaeda links. People have long sought the potential ‘link’ between Saddam and terrorism.

The sad truth is that we now know that such a link exists; it’s called the United Nations Oil for Food Program.

In perhaps the most bizarre part of the Report, Mr. Volcker tap dances around the clear truth with respect to the bribery efforts of Park and Vincent aimed at BBG and Maurice Strong. Volcker can’t bring himself to find any evidence that supports that Strong was being bribed (or knew he was being bribed) even though:

*

There is evidence that two people acting as Saddam’s bribers (Vincent and Park) say they were bribing him
*

He meets with the two bribers plus the Iraqi Ambassador to the UN at a restaurant which he subsequently claims to have ‘forgotten’ about when subsequently interviewed
*

Thereafter the Iraqi representatives to the UN and the Deputy Prime Minister of Iraq seek Strong’s assistance to help Iraq
*

He owes a guy a million bucks and the guy makes it clear he wants his money
*

He explains this to Park who agrees to “invest” in a Strong owned company (Cordex) whose other shareholder happens to be a company that is part of the financial empire of a guy who is currently Canada’s Prime Minister
*

At exactly the time Strong is doing up paperwork to meet the increasing demands of his creditor, Strong has a meeting with the Iraqi Ambassador to the UN, the Iraqi Deputy PM and the briber, Park, without other staff present.
*

Thereafter, without precedent, connection to his official duties or subsequent explanation, and contrary to his assertions he was never “involved” in Iraqi matters, Strong writes to Secretary General Annan recommending against the appointment of the very straight shooting Richard Butler as the head of the weapons inspection program in Iraq (something the Clouseau like sleuths at the Volcker group never saw fit to question Strong about)
*

Three weeks after these meetings Park goes to Iraq and immediately thereafter gives Strong a cheque for $988,000.00 (US) drawn on a bank in Jordan
*

The cheque is made to Strong personally
*

Strong pays off his debt with it (no confirmation any shares were ever transferred)
*

Park gives Strong an extra $30K a couple of weeks later for no apparent reason
*

When questioned about the cheque Strong provides repeated and varying inaccurate information until confronted with the cheque
*

After being advised of the impending investigation Strong calls Park to get the facts straight
*

Vincent plead guilty and Park has been indicted for acting for Saddam and bribing both Strong and BBG
*

Strong’s lawyer refuses to release the letter written by Strong trying to influence the appointment of the head of the weapons inspection program which was actually paid for by the Oil for Food program

In spite of this, Volcker “can’t” reach an adverse conclusion about Maurice Strong?

Strong used to promote the idea that the “carrying capacity” of humans on the earth would have to be reduced drastically. Something like half or 3/4 of humanity would have to go.....somewhere.

I've read that the population they want is 100 million - worldwide. That would mean a reduction of 5.9 billion.

Together the Strongs run the private Manitou Foundation. A gathering place for religious sects (Hanne is into “spiritual interests”), it backs, among other things, research into ethnobotany-the interactions between humans and plants.
~~~~~~~~~~
MANITOU FOUNDATION is part of GAIA worship--the new global religion in service to GLOBALISM. The globalists created a "god" they can control and seek to put all religious organizations in its service, thereby religiously controlling the masses---not to mention the vast number of nonprofit "religious" organizations that can be created.
~~~~~~~~~~~

The marriage of religion, nature, and politics: The "why" behind the new world order

Freedom of choice and basic individual rights are being sacrificed in the interest of the common good, under the United Nations' agenda for the 21st century, called Agenda 21. Under the veil of feel-good terms like "sustainable development" and "social equity", a self-described "new world order" is being systematically implemented around the globe, that is organized around the principle that nature is the most fundamental truth, and which requires all spheres of society to conform to that principle, under the government of a ruling elite (the United Nations and the organizations that support it). When faced with evidence of this unbelievable agenda, the natural question that comes to mind is "Why?"

Two Major Forces

There are really two major engines driving the new world agenda: a quest for control, and fundamental religious belief. What makes this paradigm so dangerous, and effective, is that it merges both forces together under the stated goal of taking care of the environment. The religious background to this environmental agenda is called Gaia, or the worship of the earth. Based on the gaia hypothesis, originally proposed by James Lovelock, this new age religious movement, cosmology, is woven throughout all of the major initiatives, forums, and organizations of the sustainable development agenda.

To begin to understand the reasons behind the agenda for a new world order, it is critical to investigate the religious beliefs of the organizations and individuals behind it, and how those convictions undergird an agenda of control. The new age spiritual movement of Gaia One of most influential NGOs (Non-governmental organizations) allied closely with the U.N. and intimately involved in their creation of agenda is the Temple of Understanding (TOU), located in The Cathedral of St. John the Divine in New York City. This organization's objectives are, according to its website, "developing an appreciation of religious and cultural diversity, educating for global citizenship and sustainability, expanding public discourse on faith and ecology, and creating just and peaceful communities".

Most importantly, although not explicitly stated by the TOU, the cathedral is the center of cosmology, or the worship of Gaia. The Cathedral of St. John the Divine is not only home to the TOU, but has also previously housed the National Religious Partnership for the Environment, the Lindesfarne Association and the Gaia Institute, which are all proponents of the gaia hypothesis.

Global Forum: Where religion of nature meets the politics of control

The 1988 Global Forum of Spiritual and Parliamentary Leaders for Human Survival began the marriage between religion and environmental objectives on a worldwide scale. From this conference, many additional forums around the world were organized to bring together world leaders in government, environment, religion, and science for the purpose of collaborating around the goals of sustainable development.

The National Religious Partnership for the Environment (NRPE), created in 1993, came out of these global meetings. The NRPE developed a plan for "integrating issues of social justice and the environment" which included education and action kits to religious congregations around the world, training programs for religious students and leaders, and a variety of other worldwide actions specifically targeted to ensure that religious groups adopted the goals of this globalist environmental agenda. Worldwide religion, the objectives of sustainable development, and the Gaia movement all became wedded together into a tapestry which could only be woven effectively through broad-scale, worldwide control.

Religion of nature meets politics: Robert Muller

Dr. Robert Muller, former Assistant Secretary General to the U.N. and member of the Board of Advisors to the Temple of Understanding (which founded the Global Forum), gives evidence to the marriage of Gaia with the movement of sustainable development in his paper A Cosmological Vision of the Future from 1989:

*** "Now we're learning that perhaps this planet has not been created for humans, but that humans have been created for the planet...We are living Earth. Each of us is a cell, a perceptive nervous unit of the Earth. The living consciousness of the Earth is beginning to operate through us...

***We have now a world brain which determines what can be dangerous or mortal for the planet: the United Nations and its agencies, and innumberable (sic) groups and networks around the world, are part of the brain. This is our newly discovered meaning...we are a global family living in a global home. We are in the process of becoming a global civilization...

***The third millennium should be a spiritual millennium, a millennium which will see the integration and harmony of humanity with creation, with nature, with the planet, with the cosmos and with eternity."

This key U.N. leader, in charge of creating policy on a worldwide scale, shows how cosmological faith drives an agenda for a global community, in the interest of protecting the god of nature. When the scope of this religious conviction becomes clear, it is easy to understand how it leads to an agenda of globalized control, in order to align the actions of human society toward elevating the goals of taking care of Gaia above all else, including the people who are a part of her.

Muller won the UNESCO Prize 1989 for Peace Education for his World Core Curriculum, an educational initiative to make students into global citizens who take care of the planet. According to Muller's website, robertmuller.org, Muller says, "The entire humanity must be reprogrammed through a right global inducation (Latin ex-ducare, to lead out, in-ducare, to lead into)". Just what is this U.N.-endorsed global education, as created by this proponent of Gaia?

Muller explained the reasons behind his World Core Curriculum in a 1995 speech to the College of Law at the University of Denver: "I've come to the conclusion that the only correct education that I have received in my life was from the United Nations. We should replace the word politics by planetics. We need planetary management, planetary caretakers. We need global sciences. We need a science of a global psychology, a global sociology, a global anthropology. Then I made my proposal for a World Core Curriculum."

The first principle of the curriculum is: “Assisting the child in becoming an integrated individual who can deal with personal experience while seeing himself as a part of 'the greater whole.' In other words, promote growth of the group idea, so that group good, group understanding, group interrelations and group goodwill replace all limited, self-centered objectives, leading to group consciousness."

Muller's influential philosophy is the perfect example of how nature-centered spirituality and an agenda of worldwide control go hand in hand with the United Nations and its supporting organizations.

Religion of nature meets politics: Maurice Strong

This religious conviction and political agenda of control is shared by, according to many accounts, the most powerful man in the world. Maurice Strong was Secretary General of the U.N.'s Rio Earth Summit in 1992 (where Agenda 21 was adopted), and former Executive Director of United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP). According to Henry Lamb, one of the most researched writers that exists on the issues of globalism, "He, perhaps more than any other single person, is responsible for the development of a global agenda now being implemented throughout the world." [NOTE: from the article by Lamb previously posted]

Strong, a billionaire and a brilliant, phenomenally influential U.N. bureaucrat, is a devotee of earth-bound spirituality aligned with the Gaia movement. To help illuminate the scope of his influence, consider that he has served in a multitude of key international positions, including Director of the World Economic Forum Foundation, Chairman of the Earth Council, Chairman of the Stockholm Environment Institute, Senior Advisor to the President of the World Bank, Chairman of the World Resources Institute, and, most interestingly, Finance Director at the Temple of Understanding.

Strong and his wife, Hanne, created the Manitou Foundation in 1988 "to provide land and financial support to qualified spiritual organizations, earth stewardship programs, and related educational opportunities for youth and adults" according to the Crestone Institute. Their 200,000 acre ranch near Crestone, Colorado, known as Baca Grande, is now a new age spiritual center run by Strong's wife. The modern face of Gaia and the environment: Al Gore

Former Vice President Al Gore is a devotee of Gaia, and the modern face of the environmental movement. Gore has been involved with the Temple of Understanding, including giving a sermon at its annual celebration of St. Francis, a ceremony whose Blessing of the Animals included blessings for an elephant, algae, and a bowl of worms and compost. According to a 1994 publication by the Cathedral at St. John the Divine, at this sermon Gore asserted, "God is not separate from the earth".

Strong, Anna Louise

Nebraska-born journalist Anna Louise Strong (1885-1970) was a prolific author with a wide readership. She wrote some thirty books and hundreds of newspaper and magazine articles on behalf of causes and ideologies to which she was sympathetic.

Her travels to the Soviet Union, China, and other countries in support of communism gave her a wide circle of acquaintances on the world stage including Franklin and Eleanor Roosevelt, Leon Trotsky, Joseph Stalin, Mao Tse-tung, and Chou En-lai.

Miss Strong was born in Friend, Nebraska, on November 24, 1885, where her father was a Congregational minister. The family left Friend for Seattle, Washington, when she was less than two years of age.

Miss Strong in 1905 was graduated from Oberlin College in Ohio at the age of nineteen. In 1908 at the age of twenty-two, she became the youngest woman ever to receive a doctorate from the University of Chicago. ((((incubator of commies and thugs?)))

After several years of involvement in leftist causes in the United States, Miss Strong went to the Soviet Union in 1921 for the American Friends relief mission. She remained there, serving as correspondent for Hearst magazines and later for the North American Newspaper Alliance. In 1930 she founded the Moscow Daily News, the first English language newspaper in the Soviet Union.

Miss Strong emerged as one of the most sympathetic and prolific writers about the Soviet Union. She also traveled extensively in China and became acquainted with Chinese leaders. Arrested and deported as an alleged spy in 1949 during the Joseph Stalin era, she was exonerated six years later.

After her expulsion from the Soviet Union, Miss Strong returned to the United States. The U.S. State Department denied her a passport in the 1950s, but she took the case to the U.S. Supreme Court, which ruled in her favor in 1958 and ordered the passport issued. She went to China by way of the Soviet Union.

From Beijing she issued a regular newsletter, Letter from China, which dealt with international politics. She died in 1970 at the age of eighty-four in Beijing and is buried there. A biography, Right in Her Soul: The Life of Anna Louise Strong, was published in 1984.

Gore's Oil Money: What's Good For Occidental Is Bad For Colombia's U'was

One of the world's hottest battles between indigenous groups and multinational oil companies is heating up in Colombia, where Occidental Petroleum is seeking to drill on land claimed by the 5,000-member U'wa tribe. Early this year, the Colombian government deployed several hundred soldiers to guard workers building a road to the multibillion-dollar project. That led to a clash in February when security forces used tear gas to break up an anti-Occidental demonstration of several hundred Indians. Three children reportedly drowned when they fell into a river as they fled from government troops. The U'was won at least a temporary victory on March 31, when a Colombian court ordered the government to stop Occidental from drilling on tribal land.

Meanwhile, an international campaign opposing Occidental's plan is also picking up steam. On April 28 about 100 demonstrators turned up at Occidental's annual meeting in Santa Monica and called on the company to halt the project. Activists have also picketed the offices of Fidelity Investments, which owns about 8 percent of Occidental's shares, and criticized Vice President Al Gore, whose family owns at least a quarter of a million dollars' worth of Occidental stock.

But government backing for Occidental's Colombia proposal runs far deeper than the Gore family's stock portfolio. The Nation has learned, from a government source and the internal memos of an Occidental lobbyist, that the Clinton Administration has been quietly helping the company--a generous donor to the Democrats in recent years--to win support in Colombia for its drilling plans. While Gore has strong ties to Occidental, the Administration's point man on the issue is Energy Secretary Bill Richardson, who last year traveled to Cartagena and met with government officials on the company's behalf. Richardson has also hired a former Occidental lobbyist to work in a key international-policy position at the Energy Department.

Warming up to an attack on capitalism
Santa Maria Times (CA) - Thursday, May 10, 2007
Author: Andy Caldwell/Commentary
Last week, I wrote of a plan I learned about in college, published by the Club of Rome, that outlined more than 30 years ago a goal to redistribute the world’s wealth from the industrialized countries of the northern hemisphere to the developing countries of the south.

The original plan, as outlined in that report from a think tank, called for a voluntary redistribution of wealth. The ostensible purpose of the plan was to avoid global hostilities between the industrialized northern-hemisphere countries and the Third-World and developing countries of the south.

But because nobody stepped forward to volunteer to give up their wealth and lower their standard of living, an impetus had to be created to encourage cooperation. That impetus is the modern-day environmental movement, as manifest in our current obsession with global warming.

Back in 1993, the late Dr. Dixie Lee Ray wrote a book called, “Environmental Overkill.” The accuracy with which this great woman pegged Al Gore then, and now, is just short of the magnitude of biblical prophecy.

What did she predict as a result of the pre-Kyoto Protocol summit, the 1992 United Nations Conference on Environment and Development, held in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil? She singled out Gore’s unbridled enthusiasm and support for the U.N. plan, which called for the literal reduction of progress and economic growth in the industrialized countries of this world in order to save the planet.

Specifically, what are we talking about? The secretary general of the U.N. summit in Brazil was Maurice Strong . Ray quotes Strong as indicating his belief that “In this transition to a more secure and sustainable future, the industrialized countries must take the lead. They have developed and benefitted from the unsustainable patterns of production and consumption which have produced our present dilemma.

“And they primarily have the means and responsibility to change them ... It is clear that current lifestyles and consumption patterns of the affluent middle class- involving high meat intake, consumption of large amounts of frozen and convenience foods, use of fossil fuels, ownership of motor vehicles and small electrical appliances, home and work air-conditioning, and suburban housing are not sustainable.”

Ray quotes the observations of Ron Bailey of Reason magazine who observed that the activists have a solution to the problem: “Let the government divest you of your excess goods, such as your carbon dioxide-emitting automobile; your alienating, too-big house or apartment; and foods imported from outside your ‘bioregion’ ... The assertion by many Third World representatives that ‘because you are rich, I am poor’ was never doubted in the discussions.”

As I indicated in last week’s column, the protocols being established by the U.N. don’t eliminate greenhouse gases. Instead, they simply redistribute the ability, means and permission to pollute from the industrialized countries to the developing nations.

So what is really going on here?

Maybe we should back up here for a moment before Al Gore’s “An Inconvenient Truth” becomes the all too convenient demise of the U.S. economy! Is our planet truly warming? Is global warming a bad thing? Does mankind significantly contribute to and affect the temperature of the planet? Can the temperature of the planet be controlled by man? Or, is the threat of global warming being used as a ruse to simply redistribute the world’s wealth?

Science and history tell us, in no uncertain terms, that global warming and cooling have been going on for as far back in time as we can measure. As Ray notes, the entire history of Earth is one of climatic change. The planet has had some 17 ice ages, which by definition were each preceded by global cooling and proceeded by global warming.

Nobody can explain the ice-age phenomenon! Science and history also indicate that within these larger cycles of emerging and retreating ice ages, there are smaller cycles of warming and cooling. Science also can serve to rate the production of greenhouse gases from man as compared to that which is produced by Mother Nature and the fact is natural production dwarfs that of man. The fact is, 98 percent of greenhouse warming comes from water!

The point here is that climate change occurs naturally and nobody to date has been able to explain what caused the ice ages to come and go, and yet now we think we can control them by giving up our air conditioners, frozen foods, SUVs and factories? Yet, that is not really the point, is it?

Consider these two quotes to get the real point in all of this. In 1991, many years after the publication of the initial report by the Club of Rome I read in college, Ray cites a new announcement to come forth from this same think tank: “In searching for a new enemy to unite us, we came up with the idea that pollution, the threat of global warming, water shortages, famine, and the like would fit the bill ... All these dangers are caused by human intervention. ... The real enemy, then, is humanity itself.”

And this, from Judi Bari of Earth First!: “I think if we don’t overthrow capitalism, we don’t have a chance of saving the world ecologically. I think it is possible to have an ecologically sound society under socialism. I don’t think it is possible under capitalism.”

Ending progress to save planet?
Santa Maria Times (CA) - Thursday, May 3, 2007
Author: Andy Caldwell/Commentary
When I was in college in the late 1970s, I took a political science class that included an assignment to read a report published by a think tank called “The Club of Rome .”

The book outlined a plan and made an argument for the necessity to reshape world order. What I read shocked me and seemed to be unbelievable at the time, but I never could forget what I had read. Nowadays, I believe what I read, but I am not happy about it, and neither should you be.

In essence, the book outlined the fact that tensions in the world were historically marked by hostilities between the superpowers of the East and West. At the time the book was written, the superpower of the East was the empire of the Soviet Union, and the superpower of the West was the United States of America.

The clash at that time was, of course, a clash of civilizations distinguished and characterized in part by different political ideologies and the resultant economies of capitalism and communism.

Nobody at the time could have envisioned the future fall of the Soviet empire, as President Reagan would succeed in getting his Soviet counterpart to, indeed, “tear down that wall.”

But the book I read didn’t concern itself with the trivial competition and aggressions between East and West, because it envisioned a greater conflict ahead on a different geopolitical and economic plain. What “The Club of Rome “ envisioned was the coming clash between the Northern and Southern hemispheres, not necessarily due to different ideologies, but because of economic necessity.

What was true in the 1960s and 1970s, when the data for the report was being written, compiled, debated and presented, is truer today than it was then. The fact is, the report quite accurately characterized the Northern Hemisphere countries as have-countries, and the Southern Hemisphere countries as have-not-countries.

For the most part, wealth, quality of life, ample food supplies, quality health care were all abundant in the north then, and still hard to find in the south today. The report indicated that the folks in the south would eventually become bellicose with respect to the Northern Hemisphere countries, and that literal hostilities would surely and eventually ensue.

Whereas, these initial points could be considered believable, what was laughable to me at the time was that the book then called for a voluntary redistribution of world wealth. “The Club of Rome “ author wanted the Northern Hemisphere countries to artificially and voluntarily reduce their standard of living and somehow transfer their wealth to the south.

I thought that such a suggestion was not plausible at the time. I have now realized a Trojan horse could be created that would make the suggestion not only plausible, but actually make it sound like it was for our own good!

The Trojan horse I refer to is the environmental movement in general, and the prescriptions abounding concerning our responsibilities in dealing with the perceived threat of global warming in particular.

Generally speaking, it is believed we in the north produce and consume too much, and that this is a source of the inequality of wealth distribution in the world today. People believe we can only have this quality of wealth at the expense of others.

So, the goal of “The Club of Rome “ types was to have us give up the means to produce and consume, and shift the same to the Southern Hemisphere countries, in order to avoid hostilities and to be fair and equitable. The best method that eventually emerged, decades later, in order to accomplish this shift in a peaceful means, is the protocols being pushed today by the United Nations. All in the name of saving the planet!

Even though we share our planet, we are supposed to believe that shifting the permission and means to pollute to poor countries is somehow going to result in a healthier environment.

To put it another way, realize that what Americans and Europeans are being called upon to give up, in the way of manufacturing and industrial emissions, and quality of life, is not being asked of the Southern Hemisphere, the have-not-countries. It is the industrialized north that is being asked to sacrifice the means of creating wealth in order to save the planet, while the south will be able to pollute away.

China, for instance, is slated and permitted by the Kyoto Protocol, to build 2,200 coal-fired plants by 2030 in order to produce electricity. That is one plant constructed nearly every 10 days. Our country, during this same time frame, on the other hand, is supposed to try to end our dependence upon coal-generated electricity because of the effect of the same upon global warming.

The late Dixie Lee Ray warned us about all of this back in 1993 in her book, “Environmental Overkill.” She reported the following in a summary of what happened in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, in 1992 at the U.N. Conference on Environment and Development.

Specifically, Maurice Strong, the secretary general for the conference, spoke of “patterns of production and consumption in the industrialized world that are undermining Earth’s life support systems. ... To continue along this pathway could lead to the end of civilization. ... This conference must establish the foundation for effecting the transition to sustainable development. This can only be done through fundamental changes in our economic life and in international economic relations, particularly as between industrialized and developing countries ...”

As Lee observed, the principles guiding the U.N. conference were that “the only remedy is to reduce progress and economic growth in the industrialized world.”

Stay tuned for more “Gore-y” details!

Maurice Strong has demonstrated an uncanny ability to manipulate people, institutions, governments, and events to achieve the outcome he desires.

Took dad for a drive, dinner and a corrected BC today. As we were discussing MS dad questioned whether he could have manipulated the market last week just to show someone how much power he had...or as a warning to someone./tinfoil

that certainly is a list of “usual suspects”
