Glenn Beck starts online 'university'
politico ^ | 7/6/10 | Andy Barr

Fox News host Glenn Beck announced Tuesday that he has launched an online “academic program” teaching classes in “religion, American history and economics.”

“School may be out for the summer, but for Glenn Beck class is just starting,” reads an announcement on Beck’s website. “This July, while others are relaxing poolside, head back to the classroom — from the comfort of your own home. That may sound like an oxymoron, but Glenn’s new academic program is only available online.”

Thank you for the clarification. In light of his Mormonism and Mr. Skousen’s influence Glenn Beck has no business teaching anyone anything about Christianity or “religion” on the university level or otherwise.

california, by definition, skews the distribution leftward. what has always surprised me was the relatively large proportion of Bush supporters in the Northeast, and the large proportion of republicans in academia who refused to support him after the iraq invasion (not the afghanistan invasion).

I’m getting off of it now, as you people make me sick

Truth hurts don’t it? Stick around, you might learn something.

Speaking the truth doesn’t make me a ‘bigot’.

According to some not capitalizing lds is hate. That still makes me laugh, when lds do not capitalize God or Jesus at least 90% of the time. They do capitalize church.

(Well even the Mormons don't capitalize the "d" in LdS -- when spelled out...Does this indicate a tinge of self-revulsion if we apply Restornu's psychoanalysis of Inmans to themselves?)

No you didn’t, you are still posting. Leaving would mean you have actually left.
How do you know E is vile, have you met them?
If the posts are ignorant of lds, what is the truth then?
Just so we are clear here, E’s posts as well as other are direct quotes from lds sources.

It does. And the fact that not only did he get the purpose of the Council wrong, he confused Nag Hammadi and DSS.

I’m sure he is a nice guy, and his heart is in the right place but I have a hard time trusting his research and I recognize when he throws Mormonism in his comments in passing. Most people don’t and that concerns me.

Oh for heaven sakes, just look at the comments on this thread. What a disgusting lot. Don’t know how they live with themselves. Outta here. The fight has grown stale, and the fighters boringly repetitive.

Wow, it must take a lot of work to use so many words and not say a single thing!

Enough with these accusations, either pony up with proof or admit that we are not bigots just because you say so.

Let’s see... you have called us

“digusting”,
“haters”
“bigots”
Asked “how can we live with ourselves”
and stated we ‘make you sick’

and yet you won’t say why you think/feel this way or provide proof. Each comment just gets nastier and nastier without ABSOLUTELY ANY REASON TO BACK IT UP.

Why is our posting quotes offensive? Seems kinda odd?

Are you LDS? What do you know about Mormonism? I know plenty (see tagline).

You apparently assume that we know why you feel this way, but honestly I have no idea why you would say such hurtful things about people you don’t even know? Do you hate Christians that much? Is that it?

Why is that?

Does Beck have an original idea in his head?

No, but he cries a lot.

Your proportions above of 20% leftist at Universities, especially in the field of History, is however, laughable.

- - - - -
Not so fast. I taught at a major University in So Cal (History, btw) and our department was no more liberal than any other department and FAR FAR more conservative than Women’s Studies, Education, Library Science, and Sociology to name a few that I associated with professionally.

To assume that every History dept is a bastion of liberalism is what is laughable.

However, I have left the thread, because it’s occupants for the most part, make me nauseous.

- - - -
Oh at least use proper English. It is “make me nauseated” not ‘nauseous’.

OY. And you still haven’t said WHY you think there are ‘mormon haters’ lurking here. I don’t see anyone who hates Mormons.

Amazingly enough every time I add 2 and 2 I get 4.

Boringly repetitive...

Yet always true....

And every time some one tries to make it 5, they will be wrong and have to be corrected until they understand the answer is really 4.

Repetitive indeed...

But not because the person who is right can nor should change the answer simply to make it more interesting or satisfy the ego of those who continue to be wrong...

ope, I’m not a hater of any sort. I love Mormons and pray for their deliverance from the cult of Mormonism. {Gray}

Your kind of love one could do without. {FL}

The Love of Christ?!?! That is the kind of love Gray is showing by praying for the lost. No one can live without that.

Don't argue with her :-)

One of my pet peeves by the way, along with using apostrophes to form plurals. And equally as futile.

But you are assuming that Glen HAS seen it and has a ‘correct’ copy, based upon his say so.

If you haven’t seen the evidence why are you condemning someone else who at least has apparently looked at more than one website.

Just because something is posted online, does not make it inaccurate. To be fair, it doesn’t make it accurate either, but if there are inaccuracies and more than one is posted, chances are VERY good that an accurate copy can ALSO be found online.

BTW, historians and history students ARE allowed to use primary sources posted online in research and academic (peer review) papers and assumed to be accurate as long as it is from a reliable source or verifiable via some other method. Much of history is done in cyperspace these days and there are some very good sites with primary documentation.

I pray for their deliverance from the false religion of mormonism.

- - - -
Those in ministry to the LDS covet those prayers, AMPU. And those who have been delivered are grateful for them.

Only after I left Mormonism, did I discover how many Christians, some I never met and some I met later, were praying for me. It means a lot.

Nine hours and 18 minutes ago you said you were leaving the thread. I left too, took a shower, read a book, went to a doctor's appt, met my daughter for lunch, brushed my cat, did a load of laundry, made myself dinner, unloaded and loaded the dishwasher, caught up my email, and watched "Heart of the Matter.

You are still here!

W. Cleon Skousen:

Our Heavenly Father can do only those things which the intelligences under Him are voluntarily willing to support Him in accomplishing” (pp.355-356).

This is huge! Yes, blasphemous too and this is the man and philosophy that Beck idolizes? It's worse than what I thought.

Thanks for posting #94, it's eye opening about Beck. I never cared much for weepy Glen anyway but anyone who believes this tripe, I'm not interested in watching. It makes any thing he has to say suspect.
