Phyllis Schlafly: No Women, Sarah Palin Included, Ready for White House
Politics Daily ^ | Ann Groer

Posted on 07/26/2010 6:37:01 PM PDT by pissant

At 85, Phyllis Schlafly has still got game.

The anti-feminist founder of the conservative Eagle Forum -- who counts Barry Goldwater's 1964 White House run and the 1982 death of the Equal Rights Amendment as exquisite victories and the "internationalist" presidencies of George Bush 41 and 43 as "not helpful to the Republican party" -- hasn't mellowed one whit.

That she made abundantly clear Thursday afternoon at the Conservative Political Action Committee conference in Washington.

Lord knows she still looks great, the poufy blonde hair perfectly lacquered, the fitted tweed jacket tricked out with her signature golden eagle brooch and tiny anti-abortion baby feet, her neck encircled by three stands of pearls and a chain from which dangled a cross of gold.

Be honest. Was the author (the main guy) some kind of neanderthal?

Pretty sure though, that Falcon had nothing to do with it.

You could always point to Palin’s recent support for McCain which is arguably worse than resigning from the gov seat. Some consider that “loyalty factor” a characteristic unique to women.

I really think Hunter would be repulsed by someone that thinks women shouldn't be allowed to vote.

Hunter is a decnt man and he really doesn't need some kook making him look bad.

She thinks most of you guys on here are fags.

OMG...I wish I had my camera.

A rare instance of mate-displaced projection.

Has your wife ever accused you of being a fag? If not, ask her if she has ever thought it.

Such a comment doesn't just arise out of nowhere.

And she can't mean the posters on FR...well, because they are just distant voices--mirages.

I hate to break it to you, dude...but your wife thinks you are a fag.

I did indeed. But look at the first statement you responded to. There was the Thatcher exception for CIC, was there not?

LOL...no, something to make him walk into a room and take charge. I like the man, I like his views, and even with his barely visible candidacy last time under his belt, I would STILL vote for him if he were in the same group till the end.

But he hasn’t shown me he can even make it to 5%. I wish he could...

If we look at the circumstances under which she got hounded out of the governor’s mansion, it’s pretty darn clear that this was a fluke, and a fortunate fluke because it freed her up to do things she never could, or would find impractical, as a governor.

Obama changed the election calculus...and she changed with it.

She exceeds Obamas's experience and success record. The game has undergone a quantum leap...and only Palin is keeping step with the new rules.

Granted, she did have more executive experience than Obama, but then again, so does my great-aunt Myrtle, who was once president of the flower and garden club.

That being said, I think you have in fact put your finger on an important point, though I doubt you're clever enough to have realised it.

Palin IS in step with the new rules of the game, as Obama changed them. Much of the current sound and fury over Palin revolves around her "star power." She's a celebrity, just as Obama was, so there are hordes of people on the Right who fawn over her, just like the Left did with Obama.

There are tons of people on the Right who willingly suspend disbelief and adopt an entire mythology about her accomplishment, about why her quitting the AK governour was a good thing instead of being a selfish breach of the public trust, and so forth - just like there are many on the Left who willingly suspend disbelief so that Barack Obama can remain their knight in shining armour.

Sarah Palin - as we see on this very thread - is popular, and in fact bitterly defended by her most ardent supporters - because she represents the "correction" of America's sexist past, just as BHO represented a correction of America's racist past. We need Sarah to prove that horrible knuckledraggers like pissant are a thing of the past, and so forth. So in essence, Sarah Palin, at least for many of her supporters, is an icon of identity politics. We need her, not so much because she's really done much, but because of the particular anatomical equipment she was installed with at conception.

So yes, you're right, in many ways, Sarah Palin IS in step with the new politics - celebrity rock star, cult of personality, identity politics.

She does, I must admit, have the advantage of being a natural-born citizen, at least.

That said, you still get the Nobel Prize...for stupid comments.

Esplain me again why I should care what you think about anything?

time to trash Phyllis Schlafly

I respect Schlafly, she's entitled to her opinion.

Don't fall for that bullcrap. He stated he doesn't want women to vote. So he either meant it, or was otherwise incapacitated . . . take your pick.

I'm not going to watch him rename the Falcon Party the Weasel Party.

No, I wouldn't call him a neanderthal, just a bit naive.

What's he going to do, start another country where women's and men's roles are gender specific to his ideal?

It's all a moot point and will never happen.

Dang, take another posters advice and say you had too many shots when you made your comment.

Per your post, Palin gives great speeches, has good political insight in being able to pick the winners of elections, but you say that those aren’t leadership traits?

Giving poor speeches and having poor political insight is better for political leadership?

What you said doesn’t make sense.

Let's look at it from another direction.

In 2008, Barack Hussein Obama gave great speeches and had good insight into picking the winners in political races.

Did that make him a good leader?

She resigned so the taxpaying people of Alaska would not be burdened with a governor who wouldn’t be able to govern due to JournOlists & Obama hit-men attacking her relentlessly. She explained all of this in detail.

If, as you say, she ‘couldn’t handle media attacks’, obviously she would have left the spotlight. But she hasn’t - she regrouped and stepped into the spotlight proving you wrong. She is fearless with regard to rat-dog media attacks.
