Whitman: Arizona Immigration Law OK for Arizona
The Sacramento Bee ^ | 7/29/2010 | Susan Ferriss

Posted on 07/29/2010 7:37:12 PM PDT by Mariner

Gubernatorial candidate Meg Whitman - who has campaign billboards and Spanish-language ads in California declaring "NO to the Arizona law" - told talk show hosts Wednesday that the same controversial immigration law should be allowed to stand in Arizona.

"You know, I'm running for the governor of California so I had to make a decision," Whitman said. "Does the Arizona law make sense for California? And I have said no, I don't think the Arizona law makes sense for California because we have a much bigger state with much bigger geography."

Please, if you call yourself a conservative, and if you live in the State of California, never vote for this woman. Jerry Brown would BOTH be a better Governor AND would hasten the demise of this great state than this woman who would taint the GOP for another generation.

Following your advice, the Unions will continue to rape the CA State Economy unchecked and my Second Amendment Rights will be gone by the end of Brown's first Term.

I understand what you are trying to say, but the reality is ANY Republican is always better than ANY Democrat.

Ladies and Gentlemen: The CORRECT answer is for a 2nd Constitutional Convention to be held...we only need 1 or 2 more states to agree...and for that august body to then DISSOLVE the United States of America! With that dead carcass out of the way, the delegates could then form a NEW government, one that is of, by, and for the PEOPLE!

Uh, Meg?

This California voter, thinks with one of the country’s worst unemployment rates - it would make sense right here. After all, every job (not) taken illicitly by someone who has no legal right to even BE here.

Is a job opportunity, for an unemployed Californian.

But you’re too much a RINO to see that.

Aren’t you?

Whitman will not take on the Unions.

Anyone who believe that is either blindly obedient or woefully under-informed.

Whitman has NO PRINCIPLE.

She will say now whatever she thinks she has to say.

If elected, she will do what is easiest and that which benefits HER the most.

Don't be deceived.

Let me ask you this, would we have been better off in the long run if McCain had won and kept with the plan of spoon feeding the public socialism and letting the public sleep for another 8 years? Or did it take a radical like Obastard trying to shove it down their throats to awaken them? Would we have had the TEA party movement with McCain? Would we be looking at taking over both houses of Congress and a revolt from the status quo with McCain?

Admiral Yamamoto said after the successful attack on Pearl Harbor, “I fear we have awakened a slumbering giant.” Well, the Rats overreached their electoral mandate and have awakened the giant again.

Make a cogent argument on why Whitman should be elected under the GOP banner.

Why wouldn't a conservative rather see Brown elected? Wouldn't that be better for both the GOP and conservativism in the long run?

Do you REALLY believe Whitman can save CA from it's ultimate demise?

Well Arnold started out of the gate talking a pretty good game, then fled.

Perhaps Meg can do the opposite.

With a bit of pressure from our side. Arnold was imho worried about maintaining his commercial viability in Hollywood, and turned by the other side, under some sort of concern in that regard.

Meg’s not that I can tell, actually beholden to the California leftwing mafia.

She could I suppose, surprize us.

The primary is over. Meg ran what can only be described as a brilliant campaign.

It was evident from the first week she began running her radio spots, she had it going on. Perfect message for that race, well presented. She won fair and square.

Now. Let’s pressure her to get back on that tack.

Whatever she may be, she’s certainly better than Moonbeam.

....and we would officially become the United Socialist States of America.....with no individual rights, only “group rights” and a population that is never part of the protected group.....I wonder where the gulags would be located?/s

Your idea is the worst idea I have ever seen posted. You obviously have not thought it through in a realistic manner, or you have, and do not belong on this forum posing as a conservative......

There is nothing wrong with our Constitution, the fault lies with the rise of a political class that has lost touch with the populations they represent, and the failure of the Fourth Estate to perform its role as an impartial watchdog of the Goverment......

I can't answer your question as presented.

Let me just say this, when Bush pushed his Immigration Amnesty Plan, the groundswell from his supporters who were against Amnesty stopped Bush and the Congress in their tracks.

The same thing happened when Bush submitted Harriet Meyers for the open SCOTUS seat.

I can only assume McCain would have backed down like Bush did. Conjecture is a wonderful thing, it allows both of us to state an opinion that cannot be easily refuted. BTW - If you haven't noticed, the public outcry against Obama's Policies have had absolutely no impact in stopping their passage. With McCain, we would have had a fighting chance.

WTH does geography have to do with the Arizona law? It has nothing to do with the border and everything to do with interior enforcemment and banning sanctuary cities.

“Starting to think Meg, is Arnold in a skirt.”

It is no secret that Meg Whitman is a Romney protege’..... she talks a good game, but I seriously doubt her ability to govern. Massachusetts carpetbagger.......Denizen of liberal Silicon Valley......

She is weak on the 2nd Amendment, illegal immigration, etc. and I doubt that she has the stomach for the fight with the Public Service Unions, the liberal press/media, and the entrenched Dem legislature that righting California would take......She is failing to promote conservative candidates for the California Legislature.... a serious mistake that will haunt her the next four years. Meg may be elected, but she will meet the immovable force of Public sector special interests....epic fail.....

Jerry Brown? The Democtrat Gov. candidate? This liberal is an even worse alternative.....

As JR frequently says......”Revolution is brewing!” It won’t be long now......

He did a better job than I thought he would, and he did block a lot of the really leftist things - right up to the end, when he sold out to H$U$ and signed the egg legislation so that CA can't import eggs that don't meet CA's insane chicken standards.

But I am not sure Meg is better than Moonbeam. I have a very strong suspicion that she may be far worse.

A “much bigger state” with “much more geography” can absorb more criminals than Arizona can. Besides, we’ve got so many saguaro cacti here that there is no place to put all the Mexicans. Since California is already bankrupt, going deeper into debt by dealing with Mexico’s poverty problem really is no big deal. Whitman is a nitwit.

I guess numbnuts Meg hasn't read the California penal code...

834b. (a) Every law enforcement agency in California shall fully
cooperate with the United States Immigration and Naturalization
Service regarding any person who is arrested if he or she is
suspected of being present in the United States in violation of
federal immigration laws.
   (b) With respect to any such person who is arrested, and suspected
of being present in the United States in violation of federal
immigration laws, every law enforcement agency shall do the
following:
   (1) Attempt to verify the legal status of such person as a citizen
of the United States, an alien lawfully admitted as a permanent
resident, an alien lawfully admitted for a temporary period of time
or as an alien who is present in the United States in violation of
immigration laws. The verification process may include, but shall not
be limited to, questioning the person regarding his or her date and
place of birth, and entry into the United States, and demanding
documentation to indicate his or her legal status.
   (2) Notify the person of his or her apparent status as an alien
who is present in the United States in violation of federal
immigration laws and inform him or her that, apart from any criminal
justice proceedings, he or she must either obtain legal status or
leave the United States.
   (3) Notify the Attorney General of California and the United
States Immigration and Naturalization Service of the apparent illegal
status and provide any additional information that may be requested
by any other public entity.
   (c) Any legislative, administrative, or other action by a city,
county, or other legally authorized local governmental entity with
jurisdictional boundaries, or by a law enforcement agency, to prevent
or limit the cooperation required by subdivision (a) is expressly
prohibited.

But don't despair, Meg... You can get a copy on eBay!

You know, Meg, since you're running for governor and all, the fact that California is "a much bigger state with much bigger geography" than Arizona makes this... MORE important here, not less.

Oh and uh, Meg? Again on the governor thing, California ALREADY HAS this kind of law ON THE BOOKS. So are you saying that, as governor, you WON'T enforce California law?

Just asking - it's, you know, the governor thing.
