Moran Win Another Victory For GOP Establishment
The Hotline ^ | August 3, 2010 | Dan Roem

Posted on 08/03/2010 9:59:25 PM PDT by Clintonfatigued

Rep. Jerry Moran (R) joined MI venture capitalist Rick Snyder (R) as proof that the more moderate candidates can still get elected in GOP primaries as he defeated conservative stalwart Rep. Todd Tiahrt (R) in the KS-SEN GOP primary. The AP just called the race for Moran; he leads Tiahrt 49-45% with 87 percent of precincts reporting.

If Knoxville Mayor Bill Haslam (R) is successful in the 8/5 TN-GOV GOP primary by winning a decisive plurality against two more conservative challengers, that would make the third-straight major GOP win this week by a moderate candidate that led the primary in fundraising.

You really think these out of state gadflies that live 3,000 miles from Kansas should have any weight for a political endorsement in a Kansas contest?

I think you worship a bunch of idols who don't know much, but might be suckers for a BS’er. Tiahrt should have lots of time to sell them, because he never leaves Washington, D.C.

You have no political smarts at all.
You know nothing about politics.
You have never run a campaign.
You have never run for anything, yourself.

You speak often, about “out of state” interests, but you don't seem to realize that MORAN had HUGE out of state PAC contributions, in his campaign!

In short, you are all emotion, no experience, and no facts.

What is YOUR contribution to the conservative cause? From the evidence you have posted here, you seem to do more harm than good.

I don’t know the men involved, but I worry about the levels of anger in the circular firing squads that have cropped up among us. Will we be able to heed RR’s advice on Nov 2?

It has gotten very bad lately...

It was a marriage made in a sweaty back room paid for by the hour. It was enough to make the difference.

More like a adulteress trist made at a seemy motel where in rooms are paid for by the hour! ;-)

Woo closer than expected.

Only light disappointment if any need be registered.

Highest profile loss for Palin so far?

Hopefully McCain will soon trump it.

Considering I live over 1000 miles from Kansas, I don’t know much about either one.
Mark Levin had Todd Tiahrt on his radio show, and supported him. I was hoping Tiahrt would win based on Levin’s support & Constitutional values.
I hope you guys in Kansas made the right choice & know what you’re doing!

You have no clue about anything.
See above (You would not repeat yourself if you had a brain.)
What election victories are you responsible for?
I ran a successful professional practice for 23 years.

I don’t know if you are emotional, or just have a really loud mouth.

Do you really think you are effective as a conservative “mouthpiece”? You are just all mouth.

"Yes, but we have forced Moran to the right. Moran's district had no idea how bad Moran has been, at times. Now, Moran can not get away with it anymore. Moran will be a much more conservative Senator now, thanks to Todd Tiahrt."

How so? Campaign promises are dust in the wind. The voters have to really know the candidate over their whole life and career to have a chance of knowing how they will vote in the future. Just like McCain's recent tack to the right before the primary vote. Do any of us expect him to stay there after he wins the election?

I think you need to look at the bright side, in every race.

Conservatives must FIGHT, and always push our Republicans further to the Right!

Yes, this matters.

IOW we are still plagued by vote splitters and idiots.

We even have one posting here in FL.

If little and londerhold pulled out there would be no establishment GOP candidate.

We have vote splitters popping up now and looking for “conservative branding” in order to attract and split a few votes to clear the field for RINOs.

Principled useful idiots.

Wow! If you are accurate in your assessment in Post #10, I’m starting to worry about our frined Jim DeMint moving up to higher office (POTUS).

In the MI Governor primary, it was a loss for Romney and Huckabee. Romney & DeMint supported Pete Hoestreka. Huckabee backed Mike Cox.

All I want add is that I was for Jerry Moran. And I am glad he won.

It seems while everyone was beating each other over this race. No interest in the house races?

District 3, where I find myself in Johnson County needs to be redistricted so my county can elect better people. Liberals moved the county with Wyandotte and Dougals. Got idiot Kevin Yoder as nominee and already against him.

Businessman Mike Pompeo is on his way toward replacing Rep. Todd Tiahrt in the House in district 4. District 1 went for Republican Tim Huelskamp. Lynn Jenkins won, on her way to being re-elected, in district 2.

Anyhow, I ranted over this senate race before and no that the winner has been nominated I am happy. Plsu it was who I wanted.

And Tiahrt almost won!

Tiahrt lost by 5 percentage points. He got his butt kicked.

Tiahrt was vastly outspent.
It was a 4 way race, and the splinter candidates made a difference.
Tiahrt won in the two larges counties, in the state of Kansas.
The MAIN reason that Moran won was that the Republicans, in Moran's 1st Congressional District, had never been exposed to his REAL voting record and his anti-conservative, tyranical personality.
The media protected the volatile control freak Moran.

Tiahrt made a huge difference, in Kansas.

Pompeo won BIG in the 4th District, largely because of that large turnout, the “conservative coat tails” helped out Mike Pompeo, significantly.

It is also a very save bet that Jerry Moran did NOT vote for the guy that took over the 1st Congressional District.

Tim Huelskamp, the winner, benefited as well from the strong conservative vote, for Tiahrt.

Huelskamp, Pompeo and Tiahrt ALL had the Kansans for Life and the Kansas Rifle Association endorsements.

Tiahrt did conservatives a great service, by running.

Moran NO LONGER CONTROLS THE 1st District! Moran is a tyrant, a control freak, and an enemy to real conservative control of the Republican Party.

I will vote for him, against any Democrat.

I will not sing his praises, however,

Moran is an ass, an untrustworthy, backstabbing ass!
