Exclusive: Meghan McCain Writes that Palin Brought 'Drama, Stress... Panic' to Campaign

Sen. John McCain's Daughter: Sarah Palin's Rise Was 'Too Fast,' 'Too Easy'

Aug. 31, 2010—

For the first time since the end of her father's 2008 presidential bid, Sen. John McCain's daughter Meghan McCain spoke out about Sarah Palin, writing in a new book that Palin brought "drama, stress, complications, panic and loads of uncertainty" to the losing campaign.

Though she writes that during the campaign she wondered if the loss "was Sarah Palin's fault," McCain told "Good Morning America" today in an exclusive interview that Palin was not the reason the campaign failed.

"I do clearly state at the end that we did not lose because of her and I'm speaking out now because I do have conflicting feelings about her," McCain told "GMA's" George Stephanopoulos. "She brought so much momentum and enthusiasm to the campaign."

Before Palin came on board, McCain said she knew drama was brewing.

"I had learned a few things on the campaign already, and knew that change always brought complications and chaos and sometimes a little entertainment. Drama was inevitable on a campaign and created almost out of thin air. Tempers were always flying, and feelings were always being hurt. There was no question that a running mate would add to the confusion and upset. There would be less time for fun," she writes. "But I couldn't have predicted just how serious it was going to get."

McCain admitted that during the campaign she stumbled when asked whether she had doubts about Palin's presence on the ticket and in the book said that Joe Lieberman was her favorite pick.

She has graduated from being a nerdy fat kid to being an air-headed fat lady.

She can whine but can she sing?

Wouldn’t you want her to continue spreading this hateful drivel everywhere, hopeful that it will have a negative impact on her dad’s current campaign in Arizona?

“Mega” McCain is a ludicrous idiot, but the liberal media will interview her 24/7, to hear her badmouth Governor Palin.

I think ol’ MEGA McCain will help Hayworth, far more than Palin could help Mega’s Olde Johnnie Boy daddy.

Dear Mehgan - it may be an uncomfortable thought, sweetie, but we lost the election because the dims were smart enough to put up a young, bright, engaging candidate while the stupid republicans put up a doddering, confused, pandering, wishy-washy, over-the-hill candidate who, to this day, still isn’t quite sure the reublican party is where he wants to be.

That’s your pappy, honey. Deal with it.

Panic? It’s clear to me that these people are totally ungrounded, self centered, so eager to be approved of by other elitists, just climbing the ladder. They have no vision, no guts, and can’t identify the enemy. Indeed they sometimes are the enemy.

Ruling class. Puke.

>>>> "It's almost as if Palin was used as a lightning rod to prevent your daddy from being struck." <<<<

The Romney people, headed by Mittens' BFF Meg Whitman tried to totally destroy Governor Palin, so that THEY can win in 2012, either as MITTENS/Whitman~2012 OR else as WHITMAN/Mittens~2012.

They INTENDED for Barry to win the prez, so that they could defeat him in four years. AND... I believe that Governor Palin was selected for VP to totally ensure that this very popular & respected Alaskan governor had NO political future. Meg Whitman and Mitt Romney --- boy, aren't they a ludicrous pair, and so very easy to see through.

“Another backstabber from the Romney-McCain-Cornyn
liberal shapeshifting wing of the GOP.”

You need to get your facts straight re. Cornyn.

He is among the top 20 conservatives in the Senate, has a 90%+ rating from the American Conservative group. A lot of folks on here are getting their judgment clouded by what is erroneously being implied as “his” efforts to hanging chad so to speak, the election to Murkowski in Alaska. That dog won’t hunt.

The thread should be titled, “What one word best describes Meghan McCain?”

Help me out here, folks - my mind reels trying to pin it down to merely one.

It had to drive Mega Mac nuts in 2008 when everyone was ignoring her while commenting on how beautiful a woman old enough to be her mother was and is.

But, when your primary exercise is eating, you look like Mega Mac.

Well Miss McCain, at least Palin brought something to the campaign other than spinelessness, cowardice and a losers’ mentality!

Oh, sure - bash ClearCase_guy for voting for Palin and NOT Meghan's Dad. What about me?

I was going to skip the "politics as usual" until McLame showed he had a pair, however fleetingly.

Looks like AirMeghan ran out of ice cream to stuff in her brainless face this week. Now we have to listen to her "opinion" until somebody ponies up for more Ben & Jerry's...

My question is: "Since when did Meghan's ignorance become a point of view?".

FULL DISCLOSURE

This article is from ABC News, ABCDISNEY News. Disney also owns Hyperion, the published of Ms. McCain's antiRepublican book, timed to give her airtime in the fall 2010 election.

Now if a RADIO STATION has to declare when they are being paid off to play a song or they have a financial stake in promoting something, why the HELL don't the TV STATIONS?!!!

McCain would have gotten exactly 17 votes if it wasn’t for Palin...

And none of the 17 votes would have been mine. I had it penciled in on my November 2008 calendar to be washing my hair that day, so's to avoid thinking about a repeat of the 1996 Dole/Kemp ticket.

Then, came Sarah. :-)

Hey Meghan. Do you realize that they give you a forum because you slam Republicans and Palin, in particular? If you didn’t, they wouldn’t listen to you. You’re a female version of Levi Johnston.

Not only that but Palin’s endorsement of mccain for the AZ primary was a big help to him while it hurt Palin.

This mm is even more clueless and/or self centered than we thought.

Reading comprehension issues?

My comment, which I stand behind, was to all those who were willing to stay home rather than cast a vote against obama simply because their number one choice did not get the nomintion.

A GOP vote not cast has the same value as a vote for the opposition.

The only reason I held my nose and voted for Juan is because of Sarah Palin. Many other FReepers have said the same thing.

What does Meagan McCain know about being too easy?

I think she's an expert on being too easy.
