Drop the Jihad Plans, Florida ‘Pastor’ Changes Mind on Koran Burning – For Now
David Horowitz's NewsReal Blog ^ | Paul Cooper

I wonder how much attention I could muster up if I announced my church would be burning some Korans. A cranky and crazy old guy in Florida with about 50 followers was able to get the focus of the world by saying he would take torches to the Muslim holy book on 9/11. Politicians cringed and terrorists strapped explosives to their underwear. But at the last minute the so-called pastor of Dover Outreach Center has possibly changed his mind.

When the story of Pastor Terry Jones torching Korans first broke, few folks covered it except some leftist blogs scouring news-wires for examples of Islamaphobia. This story was ideal in that the book burners could be identified with anyone against the Ground Zero mosque. I wrote extensively on the issue over 6 weeks ago. (See that article here.) As more and more people began to discover the story it became a national concern and an international story. Would this ‘church’ burn the Korans and what would be the reaction by terrorists?

This week warnings from General Petraeus, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, and other leaders were sent out. Clinton even asked the media not to cover the holy book torching as an act of patriotism. There was a real concern that such an incident would lead to greater attacks on US soldiers and citizens abroad. Secretary of Defense Robert Gates called Jones on Thursday asking him to throw away the matches. Even President Obama felt it was necessary to speak up.

“This is a recruitment bonanza for al-Qaida. You could have serious violence in places like Pakistan or Afghanistan. This could increase the recruitment of individuals who would be willing to blow themselves up in American cities or European cities.” – President Obama

Don't worry Osama. Somebody else that wants to put U.S. troops in increased danger and see them die will do the burning.

Westboro Baptist Church to burn Qurans if Dove doesn't

The problem is that the Moslems will now use this incident as a "you owe us" excuse.

They will demand concessions or else from now on.

The final solution will be either Judeo-Christianity or Islam will survive. Islam will never coexist.

I’m curious.

When Muslims murder and rape people, do you blame Muslims for those atrocities?

Or do you reflexively look around for Westerners to blame?

If US soldiers die because a Muslim attacked them, whose fault is it? Take your time with this one.

So the message we send the world is that the U.S. is afraid of the muzzie street and will repress offensive speech to placate that rage. Sad. Now we have the Ground Zero Iman saying that he has to build the mosque there because otherwise it will inflame the muzzie street. Where does this end?

cmon man, this is out of hand and insensitive. the muslims just want to get along with us. In fact, I saw quotes from the Hamas leader :

"to respond to this criminal, this liar, this crazy priest who reflects a crazy Western attitude toward Islam and the Muslim nation."

and

"We came to say, the Quran is our constitution, we are committed to God and his holy book,"

and finally

"God willing, should they try to carry out their crime against the Quran, God will tear their state apart and they will become God's lesson to anyone who tries to desecrate the holy book."

Paraphrased:

"We only want to promote peace and unity. Now TEACH UNITY OUR WAY OR WE WILL KILL YOU ALL"

Maybe Jones is a nut, maybe he is an extremist... that's not my concern. However, he's working this pretty well. He's brought out the hypocrisy and made it headline news. He's showing the world EXACTLY what islam is really about. Peace is the last thing on their minds. I hope he doesn't cave. The outcome won't be good news, but it's time to stand up to this evil and show just how incompatible it is with western civilization.

Where does this end?

Secretary Gates calling Jim Robinson and personally telling him to pull certain FR threads that could be offensive to Muzzies.

This guy is forcing the left to show their true colors. I watched MSNBC this morning, and they are just beside themselves.

Some reveal their true communist colors and want this guy stopped, regardless of constitutional rights.

Others are twisting in knots trying to avoid their favorite game, moral relativism.

And they had a “would be funny if it weren’t so sad moment” where on a split screen they had the pastor and Jon Meachum. Meachum pleaded to the pastor not to do it, “as a fellow Christian”, and they didn’t allow the pastor to speak.

There is high entertainment value in this.

Further question. What if the muzzie street demanded an end to Gay Pride marches or demonstrate if an abortion clinic is built too close (for them) to a mosque. i.e., if something that the hard left values is threatened, will they concede or is it just the 80% of the US population which is bigoted and islamophobic s\ who have to carry this cause?

Petraeus says it doesn’t matter, it’s too late, because just SAYING he was going to do it has already caused the damage.

Pesky first amendment and all, we need to repeal that one so General Petraeus’ job is easier. Hate to think of all those soldiers having to be on heightened readiness simply because our freedoms are so onerous to Muslims and all.

And what really should be scary is the fact that our government basically strong-armed this pastor into giving in.

That is the most scary thing about this whole thing.

Read the back of the book. Christ wins.
But Islam will be a problem until then.

You have to understand that in the BIG picture, the left and Islam are on the same side - building Satan’s kingdom on earth and destroying all vestiges of Christianity.

To answer your question - they’d probably work something out, but even more likely is that the Muslims would be “directed” not to go after their allies’ core values - yet.
