President Obama Goes Ringless At Presser
Politico ^ | 09/10/10 | Patrick Gavin & Amie Parnes

Posted on 09/10/2010 12:39:19 PM PDT by KentTrappedInLiberalSeattle

Sometimes, a White House press conference can be a chance for a president to take some weight off his shoulders ... but weight off his fingers?

Eagle-eyed reporters noticed that President Barack Obama wasn't sporting his wedding ring during Friday's White House press conference.

"big to-do over potus not wearing his wedding ring today," Tweeted The Hill's Sam Youngman, who was at the presser.

Obama's wedding band is "an intricate gold design from Indonesia, where he had lived as a boy," the New York Times reported in 2009.

Michelle will probably be okay with it; after all, she once left home without her wedding ring, too.

WTF needs to be fixed on a simple wedding band???

I've shattered one working on a suspension before. Replaced it with a 10k instead of 14k. Haven't broken this one ... yet.

Intricate gold design? Wanna bet its something in ARABIC?

It's not like when XXX-42 pocketed his ring to go on the prowl.

I dunno about that but I did have sushi one fine eve with a lovely (liberal, Jewish) real estate lady in the city who said, when she partied with the UN crowd, Clinton (who also partied with that crowd) gave her the creeps.

"I've partied with him, and I wouldn't trust him" [shaking head emphatically] is an accurate rendering of her comment from memory.

Saw a guy touch his wedding ring to a fuse once on a Sub and it burned his finger right off.

Saw a carpenter hit his with a hammer and it was not pretty.

Say a guy descending a ladder get his caught on the rail and it basically skinned his finger like a fish.

Oh they do get damaged, and they do do damage.

You misunderstood.

All I meant to say is that men and women cannot be in contact with each other or even in proximity of each other during a gathering.

I wasn't saying anything at all about who is or is not in his cabinet.

But, he is just looking for allies of all kinds. For example, Muslims kill homos and yet he has homosexuals in his cabinet. He is just playing the ‘American’ game for power.

In most Islamic cultures, you would never find a woman in government. And, a homosexual would be put on trial.

You have to play to your audience.

I bet the ring is being re-sized to fit his skinnier finger. He’s lost some weight.

Bingo.

I have known of two men, one of them grew up a mile from where I did, who lost their ring fingers. The one who lived close was on a national guard truck and true to his exuberant nature, rather than dismount at the open gate of the truck he vaulted over the side. When he hit the ground his finger was hanging on the side of the truck body. The ring had caught on something.

I wear no jewelry of any kind, not even a wrist watch any longer, I have been married, widowed and am married again and I told both wives before marriage that I would NOT wear a ring. I did electronic and electromechanical repairs for many years and nobody should wear jewelry around circuitry plus I hate the feel of metal on my skin.

So Michelle has a traditional band, but his doesn’t match hers. His is symbolic of his first commitment being not her, but to the imperially victimized ‘other’, as epitomized by the largest Muslim country in the world, whom he’s going to champion from his position within the Global Imperialists of America.

Does Islam even use wedding rings?

I looked it up....

"With regard to men wearing gold, whether it is a ring or anything else, it is not permissible under any circumstances, because the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) forbade gold for the males of this ummah. He saw a man wearing a ring of gold and he (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) took if from his hand and said, “Would any one of you take a coal from the fire and hold it in his hand?” (Narrated by Muslim, al-Libaas wa’l-Zeenah, 3897). So it is not permissible for the Muslim male to wear a gold ring. But with regard to rings of silver or any other kind of metal, it is permissible for men to wear them even if they are precious metals.

With regard to the wedding ring, which is worn on the occasion of marriage, this is not one of the customs of the Muslims. If it is believed that it generates love between the spouses, and that taking it off and not wearing it will have an effect on the marital relationship, then this is regarded as a form of shirk and is a kind of jaahili belief. Based on the above, it is not permissible to wear a wedding ring under any circumstances.

Firstly, because it is an imitation of those who are no good; it is a custom that has come to the Muslims from the non-Muslims.

Secondly, if that is accompanied by the belief that it has an effect on the marital relationship, then this is a kind of shirk. Laa hawla wa laa quwwata illa Billaah"

And to that, I’m going to create an addendum to the Clinton Rule, the economy MUST be rebounding and/or booming during an affair. To do so during a period the economy is declining and you’re hated for other reasons will not save your poll numbers.

I don’t think an affair will get him back.
