Fla. Dems reveal opponent's SSN (Col. Allen West)
Politico ^ | 9/20/10 | KASIE HUNT

The Florida Democratic Party has offered to pay to protect Republican congressional candidate Allen West from identity theft because it sent out a mailer featuring his Social Security number.

West, a retired Army colonel and YouTube sensation running against Rep. Ron Klein, was hit with a tax lien — since paid — in 2005, and the state party attacked him for it and other financial problems in a mailer sent out to 22nd District voters over the weekend.

The piece featured a photo of an IRS document showing the tax lien — and while West’s address was blacked out, his Social Security number and his wife’s Employment Identification Number were clearly visible.

Too bad some Republicans couldn’t accidentally reveal the SSNs of the staff at that Democrat office. Just by mistake of course.

The Obama Regime gives confidential IRS tax documents to Florida thugs.

Isn’t this a federal crime?

You're thinking of the "other" U.S. where crimes were punished, wrongs were righted, and justice done. We are now living in Obamaville and those days of good winning over evil are gone.

“Isn?t this a federal crime?”

He needs to lawyer up and get with the State Attorney. Meanwhile file a civil suit. Its going to take a long time to get new SSN’s and protect himself from identity theft.

Wouldn't that make a great commercial?? :-) Voiceover: "I couldn't believe my opponent would stoop to such a thing, but yet, he did!" Fade in: Silhouette of Col. Allen West, looking into the distance, with a troubled look on his face. Announcer speaking as montage of democratic political attack ads morphs into the one showing West's and his wife's SSN (pixelated) West: It's one thing to fight on the battlefield for my country, as I did. But now, my wife and I and our children have to worry about identity thieves because of DEMOCRATIC DIRTY PRACTICES DURING A LOCAL CAMPAIGN! (more images of West and his wife looking very concerned) Cut to: LIFELOCK knows how we all want to keep thieves out of our credit card information, our bank accounts, our everyday functions--so to help Col. West and his family stay safe after this insidious attack by his opponent, we have decided to give them a FREE LIFELONG MEMBERSHIP with LIFELOCK. Now they can enjoy the security of knowing that if a thief tries to use that private information, it will be stopped IMMEDIATELY. You, too, can have the same protection Col. West and his family now has, for the low price of only $-- a month. You may not have your social security numbers put out there for the whole world to see and take advantage of, but you never know when thieves are watching you behind the scenes! LIFELOCK.

West should be supported by a maximum NATIONAL campaign to emphasize the depravity of the socialist state which controls too much private info and can ruin the lives of private individuals who have no recourse.

I have had two tax liens on houses I have owned. The first was put on my new home when a subcontractor for the builder didn't pay for materials used in the home's construction. The builder took care of it, but we got a notice first.

The second lien was placed on our home by the school district for non payment of property taxes. But, we had paid the taxes in an escrow account and the mortgage holder had failed to pay the taxes. It took a while to straighten this out, but they finally paid the taxes and late fees.

West needs to contact the IRS and/or the FBI to find out how the Dems got his SSN. Release of SSN to unauthorized individuals is a federal crime.

“Federal laws that require the use of an SSN generally limit its use to the statutory purposes described in each of the laws. For example, the Internal Revenue Code, which requires the use of SSNs for certain purposes, declares tax return information, including SSNs, to be
confidential and prescribes both civil and criminal penalties for unauthorized disclosure. Similarly, the Social Security Act, which requires the use of SSNs for a number of different purposes, declares that SSNs
obtained or maintained by authorized individuals on or after October 1, 1990, are confidential and prohibits their disclosure.”

“So why is a paid off tax lien from 5 years ago an issue anyway?”

To the property owner, it is a non-issue.

To Democrapic voters, who are far less likely to own property than Republicans, it sounds like some sort of tax cheating. Doubly so for poor Democraps.

‘Sides, from a Democrapic perspective, revealing Wests’ SS number is a sure way to cause West to take time off from waxing your sorry a$$ and deal with damage control and security issues.
