Ralph Nilssen's five beautiful kids are about to get more expensive. Regence Blue Shield sent him a letter saying rates are going up - way up.
Regence put the blame - at least in part - on the new and controversial health care law.
"Obama care went into effect and my rates went through the roof," said Nilssen.
In the letter, Regence told Nilssen his $532 monthly premium could nearly triple next year.
"I just sat back and said you've got to be kidding me," he said.
"If they're angry and confused - it's easy to understand," said Washington Insurance Commissioner Mike Kreidler, who has fielded more than 100 angry calls since Regence mailed its letter two weeks ago.

I would have asked who Ralph voted for and what political party he belonged to.
Don’t blame Obama,
Don’t you dare,
I only signed it,
Blame ObamaCare!
I had a 12% increase this year, approximately equal to the last 7 year increases.
Next year scares the he!! outta me.
I am waiting to get slammed at some point myself. Money is so tight right now if there is a real jump, I will have to chance it. My wife is not very risk tolerant though.
I bailed a year ago when the premium went over $700. Found Healthnet Insurance & with a $5k deductible was paying $274. That just went to $303. Gee, thanks, Obama!
I am on golden rule which has been tolerable so far but sooner or later, that will be done away with. Thank you 0 and his fellow marxists for nothing.
All part of the plan. Make it so expensive for private industry to be able to survive that eventually everyone will be forced into a government plan.
No mystery as to why, but AARP helped bring it on...endorsing Obamacare (with highly publicized TV ads) and now their affiliates are suddenly bailing out.
That's the way it is under liberal rules... agreements are kept, ONLY until they get in the way
I'm starting to agree with Rush on his show today said Obama's "shovel-ready" projects seem to apply to our seasoned citizens...getting them out of the way.
And the good news is that if Nilssen doesn't buy health care that Obama approves of, the IRS will be having a 'come to Obama' meeting with him.
Ding ding ding! We have a winner. And the dems will actually blame big insurance companies. And dem voters will believe it.
I had to drop our Regence coverage earlier this year. It had doubled over a two year period. Too bad I didn’t wait around for this increase!
Obama selling points on Health care was total lie. The proofs in the pudding.
Hadn’t heard of Healthnet but looked them up and see they offer only “Large Group Employer” plans and Medicare plans in WA state, but not non-Medicare individual plans. Oh, well.
vaudine
AARP wants everybody in Medicare and then they can carry the secondary coverage. When so many with Medicare coverage switched to alternate plans it cut them out of the market because people didn’t need any secondary coverage.
possible health care choice bump
