Daily Presidential Tracking Poll: down to -19 and sinking
Rasmussen Reports ^

Posted on 10/15/2010 6:51:06 AM PDT by DadOfFive

Friday, October 15, 2010 Email to a Friend Advertisement The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Friday shows that 27% of the nation's voters Strongly Approve of the way that Barack Obama is performing his role as president. Forty-six percent (46%) Strongly Disapprove, giving Obama a Presidential Approval Index rating of -19 (see trends).

The housing market’s woes are starkly highlighted by new polling data showing that just 52% of American adults now believe buying a home is the best investment a family can make. Earlier data showed that more homeowners expect the value of their home to go down rather than increase over the coming year.

2 out of 5 Americans don't want an America as we knew it.

I think it's probably more that 1/5 are the commies and the other 1/5 are ____ .

(fill in the blank with one or more of the following: not paying attention; HOPEful; CHANGEful; touchy-feely; looking for 'diversity;' minorities; in favor of affirmative action; gay; too 'nice;' union members; diehard dems; watching too much TV; reading too many newspapers; listening to the commies; OR stupid; ignorant; morons; etc.)

There may be considerable overlap of descriptive labels.

It’s much more likely he’s reached a limit...a point of resistance for the time being...When you see numbers bunching like that, I find myself asking, is it more likely to break upward or break downward?

My bet is on downward.

I totally agree. But think through the next step. WHY would one of those 40% who still APPROVE or STRONGLY APPROVE of him switch to DISAPPROVE or STRONGLY DISAPPROVE of him at this point in time or in the future?

Think about it.

Is it more likely because they will have a eureka moment and suddenly love Ronald Reagan and Sarah Palin's message of individual responsibility, or because they are frustrated with Obama not delivering the Socialist Utopian freebies they think they deserve?

I suspect that his support will fall further, but only because the true believers are upset that he hasn't destroyed the "dirty capitalist-colonialist-fatcats" enough.

Then those 2 of 5 should all move to California, because that state is a model of liberal utopia.

I agree. The Utopianistsas need to be disabused of their beliefs...And hard.

Educating on Liberty - and what that really means - is my first preferred method...But is slow.

And having these socialists disappointed that their freebees aren’t coming only leads I think to believing that they could come - if only they tried harder....

Pitforks and torches on the capital mall, though...That migth just start a discussion with the stakes high enough to polarize the wishy-washy, and galvanize the rest. Personally, I think to affect those stubborn true believers in socialism, the choices need to be made starker to them for them the see the error.

...and a state which appears about to re-elect a worn-out hippy socialist to make it even worse!

Some people believed that Obama would teach people how bad socialism is.

I don't think it works that way.

It's more like an addiction. The more you take the worse it gets.

“2 out of 5 Americans don’t want an America as we knew it.”

Clueless people can still be educated about liberty. This is our great task for this coming generation. We MUST care and engage the coming generation if we care about America surviving in any way as we knew her.

Totally agree! And that's why I think this Daily tracking "poll cheering" and a single election is so dangerous.

It creates false exuberance.

Moving that 40% approval of socialistic anti-American uncritical thinking down to even just 20% will take 40 years.

“Is it more likely because they will have a eureka moment and suddenly love Ronald Reagan and Sarah Palin’s message of individual responsibility, or because they are frustrated with Obama not delivering the Socialist Utopian freebies they think they deserve?”

We need to cast a vision for liberty and freedom (free markets which can create jobs, sensible tax code (flat tax), etc.) Furthermore, we need to ridicule people that are satisfied to live in ignorance - like the idiotic voters in my state who will vote for Patty Murray and Jay Inslee (WA CD 1) but answer the 3rd question of our survey - what should we do to get WA State’s economy on track with “Tax cuts for small businesses and individuals”.

People are IGNORANT and blissfully so. We MUST shake them out of their lethargy.

If we ever fashioned ourselves to be good communicators, this is one of the more important messages we’ll ever deliver to this and the coming generation.

Look at the volatility in the 'Strongly Disapprove' numbers over the past year. I suspect you are correct...whenever Obama does something that leads the far left to believe that his administration might be moving toward the 'center' on an issue dear to them; the SD numbers plunge. Look at the attention college students devoted to 'DADT' during that MTV forum yesterday...they weren't very happy.

Re: kids and DADT:

Isn't it funny how this election cycle everyone notes that the "evil social conservative issues" have gone into hiding?

And yet, what is DADT if not a social liberal issue?

Depends on what social issue the left likes.

“a Marshall University poll “

Also, these university polls are often crappy ones - real likely voters, good sample, etc?

Doesn’t matter, Sam. According to Paul Johnson, about 1/3 of the colonists didn’t want a Free Republic either—they wanted to stay under the king.

Another 1/3 didn’t care either way.

And a third, led by people like your namesake, changed the world for the better.

bottom line: we don’t need that 40% who embrace Hussein. We need a committed few to change the world.

Christ and his 12 disciples did it.
Samuel Adams and the Sons of Liberty did it.
And so can the Tea Party.

I would recommend that progressive utopia known as Detroit. Plenty of cheap housing, too.

"People are onto them. Problem is, they have to lie because nobody would want what they have in mind for them."

Helluva spot to be in. No one beleives your B.S. lies anymore, and if you told the truth people would run away screaming in terror.

This poll is volatile, but that is what keeps it interesting. The trend is still deteriorating for Obama. I have coworkers who are serious Obots; I have observed that they have been getting more and more cranky and sensitive about politics over the past few months. If the election knocks the arrogant dems off their high horse... I am hopeful that the typical Obot will be so demoralized that they will go into heavy pot smoking mode and lose all interest in politics.
