No soup for you!
That is embarrassing. Not going through Dallas anymore.
Let me forecast a fast apology from Puck’s and an invitation to the vets to eat there for free.
POW T-shirts and unit-associated caps were not enough to identify them as military vets?
The restaurants general manager, Marcus Cascio, sent the group two bottles of Scotch, a written apology and an invitation to return to the restaurant.--- With their meal comped, I hope.
The men were gentlemen to take this slight, but one of them should have spoken up: "Sweetie, let's talk to your boss and see what he thinks."
No manager would have turned them away.
“If they had explained who they were and what they were doing, it would not have happened, she said. It was a mistake and were apologetic.

The prices were over the top for basically ordinary stuff.
But, it was a special occasion and we went.
The ‘hip’ young lady next to our table threw her arm over the back of her chair, propped her dirty sneaker-clad foot on the chair by her and sucked water out of a bottle, like a fishwife.
For this, I overpaid for my diner and tolerated a pathologically overly-familiar waiter who couldn't have done a worse job if he tried!! Not going back, either.
Not exactly going out on a limb with that one.
Remember, this is a “hostess”, likely in the 18-22 year old range. These types are not typically hired for their brains. I tend to agree with the vets in the story: she was just not equipped mentally to successfully navigate the situation. The restaurant has responded well. Just another stop on the train to Idiocracy.
(snip)
Everyone involved agreed the hostess made a mistake. Whats in dispute is whether the men identified themselves as veterans.

“He bounced off the roof of a barn and landed in a pig pen after his plane was shot down over Schweinfurt, Germany, in 1943. He lost 30 pounds during two years as a POW at Stalag Luft III, the camp depicted in the movie The Great Escape. Hes dug through trash for food, eaten barley soup with his hands and slept in ankle-deep cow manure.”
Well maybe because the guy bombed Wolfgang’s home town and Wolfie felt obligated to Der Fuhrer by turning him away...
sell the POS hostess to the arabs...............
if this is the one atop Reunion Tower then it is far fancier than the usual Puck Express fare
i was just at the Hyatt there last weekend and it did have a dress code
We have one here in L.A., downtown core which explicitly states as the budget version of Wolfgang Puck’s, but it is owned by him. Even at “fast-food’ prices, it was outrageous but expected from someone whose food is below average but the prices were not. The Subway close to it had a long line up so that’s where we went..
You can’t play on pretty much any golf course without a collar.
Cmon, guys. Get it together. Tshirts and ball caps are good for Hooters, not a nice dinner place.
Why do expensive restaurants exist in the first place? To have a special experience, not just a casual Chili’s or Applebee’s thing.
Would these guys have ever considered going to such a place in their skivvies while they were still in the service?
I remember when a man felt naked without at least a sportcoat in a nice place.
If they said they were WWII veterans their age alone should have been all the proof needed. Hard to imagine a group of 90-somethings getting together at the geriatric clinic and cooking up a plot to make believe they're veterans so they can dine at a nice restaurant. It was political on somebody's part, be sure of that. "Screw you old-fashioned, conservative goats". But political or not it's a sign of the times anyway, there's little respect left in the U.S. for the elderly or the unborn, or for that dying thing called "decency".
Hostesses will have to be retrained to make exceptions for vets and other heroes.
