dropped my membership
This really ticks me off. I posted a full list of D endorsements here. http://redmeatconservative.blogspot.com/2010/10/nra-is-helping-preserve-anti-gun.html
I can’t believe they endorsed Kratovil over Andy Harris in Md.
How much of that $15-20 million will be spent for Democrats?
Conservatives would be insane to donate a dime.
Is there a serious alternative to the NRA?
The NRA is a single issue organization, not a support group for the Rs. They tend to support the incumbents. They are non-partisan and fully support them doing this. It makes sense.
Now, I’m in a hotly contested Representative race, and the NRA’s endorsement of the incumbent meant nothing to me.
The NRA can’t save her...
So far, so good.
Michael Moore has said more libs need to become NRA members so they can take over the organization and thwart it’s efforts.
Consider it a sign that we’re winning the Second Amendment debate. Republicans need to find another differentiating issue to campaign on, because they can no longer count on this one.
2nd Amendment Foundation, Gun Owners of America to name a few. Such organizations used to be flyweights, now THEY take the lead in lawsuits and campaigns and the NRA belatedly tags along.
Also look for your statewide organization. I realize they can’t all be as effective or proactive as my own Virginia Citizens Defense League.
NRA held the line for decades and I’ll always be grateful, but they refuse to acknowledge that the dems have purged all their conservative elements years ago. There are no more pro-gun democrats anymore than pro-life democrats. As with Obamacare, the stimulus and Dodd-Frank; when push comes to shove they will ALL obediently do what the leadership orders.
I don’t know if the NRA has been taken over by leftists and careerists but their time is clearly over.
I emailed the NRA on Wednesday, informing them I was canceling my membership due to their ludicrous practice of supporting leftists. I’ve received no response. Now ain’t THAT strange.
The new AARP
Mine was up for renewal this month. I'm letting it lapse.
Democrats are understanding that they can’t make gains in power by attacking the right of self defense.
Of course, to achieve what they really want, they will HAVE to address this little bugaboo sooner or later.
And that, right there, is the problem.
They're not a "gun rights organization"
They're a "gun rights and professional politician protection organization".
If they want to be a "gun rights organization", the honorable and honest thing for them to do is acknowledge that in some races, "gun rights" is not a factor, and decline to issue an endorsement.
“Democrats Tout NRAs Blessing”
What was to be expected? Seems to me the NRA, although a single issue organization, NOT a conservative political organization, but as a second amendment organization has taken the wrong tack here.
We are in times today that endorsing the enemy of our freedoms is not appropriate, nor is it wise. Especially as it is known the Democrats will lie, and say whatever they deem necessary to get by at the moment, but when it is time for the vote, they WILL vote Party line no matter what they said before. The NRA knows this, and albeit they have successfully worked some areas of concern with Democrats as has been pointed out to me by concerned NRA members here at FRee Republic, they went way overboard in assigning endorsements to Scorpions.
It will come back to bite them, thus bite us whom trusted them so damned much to get the job done that we sent them money, and filled out their surveys, and participated in projects in good faith.
My over twenty year membership is on hold. I’m sending no money to the NRA until I understand what the Hell it is they are up to with supporting a bunch that advocate the takeover of my country with foreign ideology.
That’s right. Dropped my NRA membership like it was a bag of doggy poo. Joined the GOA and never looked back. If the GOA turns left like the VFW or NRA, I’ll drop them too.
Spot on!
The NRA is a pro-gun organization. If the Democrat is an incumbent with a consistent pro-gun voting record, vs. a Republican with no record, they will endorse him.
I won’t vote for a Democrat, even if he’s pro-gun, but I don’t object to a single-issue organization’s working on that basis.
Dropped the NRA membership.
