Tom Tancredo has moved within 4 percentage points of John Hickenlooper in the governors race, moving the race to toss up, according to the latest poll from Rasmussen Reports.
Tancredo, who left the Republican Party to run on the American Constitution Party ticket, has 38 percent of the vote to Hickenloopers 42 percent. Support for Republican Dan Maes slipped again, and he now stands at 12 percent, Rasmussen reported.
Ever since former GOP Congressman Scott McInnis candidacy imploded, Hickenlooper, the Democratic nominee and Denver mayor, has been in the lead in the governors race. However, he has generally remained in the mid-40s.

The GOP front-runner going into the August primary, Scott McInnis, was found on the eve of the election to have serious ethical issues, so unknown Dan Maes won by default. Maes then turned out to be a resume-padding blowhard, right on the issues, but a serious embarrassment who can't even manage the economics of his own campaign (3 finance directors in 2 months).
The road looked wide-open for Dem Denver Mayor Hickenlooper, a man of the far left, to waltz in, but he is way too left for Colorado and struggles to exceed 42% in the polls, despite strong name recognition.
So in jumped former Congressman Tom Tancredo, a seal-the-border, anti-Bush-budgeteer who once advocated bombing Mecca if another 9/11 occurred. He signed up with the American Constitution Party, and garnered endorsements from most big-name conservatives in the state.
This race is trending rapidly toward Tancredo, especially as Hickenlooper now has a shady-looking land deal to explain, and a habit of donating to extremist causes on the left.
Whatever people may criticize about Tom (and I have sometimes criticized him), he is very well known statewide, the ultimate fiscal conservative and a straight arrow. He is what he is and he is what you see, and in this political climate, despite his being what has formerly been considered pretty far right, he may just be what Coloradoans want.
Maes is plummeting, and 90% of his losses are going to Tancredo. Watch this race.
will Maes drop out?....get sick?...have to leave due to mental breakdown?....I wish him no harm but he fell into this and he could certainly fall out of it again...
Do you support Tancredo?
go Tom go!
Yes. When you agree with a candidate 90% of the time, and he isn't corrupt....that's definitely your candidate.
This would make him the second Governor [ after Jesse Ventura ] to win on a third party ticket.
I doubt Dan will drop out. All the GOP powers that be have tried to convince him. I can't name ANY major conservative pollitico in Colorado who supports him. Former Gov Bill Owen and GOP Party Chair Waddams still officially support him, but with zero enthusiasm.
Just today, very popular former Congressman Joel Hefley of El Paso County (largest county by population in CO) started doing radio commercials for Tom. Bob Beauprez, Jane Norton and others also are doing commericals for Tom.
Buck will win Bennet's Senate seat, we will take away Betsy Markey's seat (Fort Collins) and are leading in CD-7 (Ed Perlmutter) with an excellent candidate, Ryan Frazier. John Salazar's seat (John is IntSec Ken Salazar's brother) is also up for grabs.
All republicans should just shift over to Tom Tancredo.
It’s happening.
He just got my vote. Seriously.
Tancredo : “who once advocated bombing Mecca if another 9/11 occurred.”
The best idea yet
The same threat of MAD deterrence that held off the entire Soviet Union and all it’s dictators will do the same to the Islamist madmen that thirst for Jihad against the ‘infidel’
They hit us = they lose Mecca ( and Medina ) forever .
It will at least scare off their secret money backers who are nothing but a pack of bedsheet cowards and camel pole smokers, with more money then they deserve .
Imagine if Maes drops out.
Please tell us more about Hickenlooper’s shady land deal and giving to extreeme left wing causes....
Oh, I found this....
From the Denver Post:
“The only other publicly known charity that Hickenlooper has donated to is The Chinook Fund, a group that gives to groups it says are considered “too new, too risky or too radical” for more traditional foundations. Established by Hickenlooper and others in 1987, the fund has supported everything from the Gender Identity Center of Colorado to Denver Cop Watch. “

So Hickenlooper helps establish a radical leftist foundation.......hmmmmmmm.......
Spread it around folks...
Go Tancredo!
Tancredo = “a straight arrow.” Exactly. He’s smart, he’s got cojones, and he’s honest in his dealings and in his words.
Straight arrow Tancredo, exactly what the large liberal majority in CO loathes. Many of those CO liberals are transplants from CA, but CA grows more liberal as liberal transplants leave. It really is bizarre.
It wasn’t so much that Tancredo was originally anti-GWB. It’s that GWB and his Karl banned Tom from the White House, even as they invited liberal Democrat guests all the time. We are reaping the failures of GWB and will for years.
Email I sent to Dan Maes & posted to the Colorado Forum:
Dear Mr. Maes,
You are the only person in Colorado who can prevent far-leftist John Hickenlooper from being elected Governor of Colorado.
I’m sure you are well aware that the latest Rasmussen poll shows Tom Tancredo is within 4 points of John Hickenlooper, and that unfortunately you now have no other role in this election except as spoiler. Please be the spoiler for John Hickenlooper. Please be the biggest man of the three, and take the right and honorable action of throwing your support behind Tom Tancredo to prevent John Hickenlooper from being elected. Too many people are going to suffer from Hickenlooper’s far-left policies. Too many people are going to remain unemployed in this state and too many people are going to continue to lose their jobs.
I’m begging you to be a hero. Please do this for the people of Colorado: make sure John Hickenlooper is not elected Governor of Colorado. Please make sure none of us ever have to say the phrase “Governor Hickenlooper”.
