That’s just weird. Taking the leg while you lose the Governorship. To Mark Dayton of all people.
Did the Republicans really get 250 seats?
I thought much of the coverage this evening (and I kept flipping from one set to the next) was OK on an individual seat basis, but I just wanted to know — how many seats did the Republicans win!
True that!
Yeah. Do you think it’s wrong of me ?
Well done, Minnesota!!!
That makes me a little bit happy. But Barne OMG!y FRANK????
Oberstar’s loss may be the most astonishing of the House races. Amazing.
Iron Range POed ping ... we got ‘im!!!
Jimmy Bikeshorts is GONE. I never thought I’d live to see the day.
That is VERY good news! Things they are a’changin’! Let the
purging begin!
What happened at the governor level? I haven’t had the news on yet.
Our gov was re-elected. Thank goodness.
I saw a video of him voting yesterday..he looked very, very old..wonder if that had an effect..
You must be smiling all the way to the office! :) Good job, Cravaack!
The NY State Senate will have at least 30 Republicans and 29 Democrats, with three races too close to call. Republican Martins leads Democrat Johnson in SD-07 by 51%-49% with 98% reporting; this one should go our way, which would give us 31 seats (enough for a tie). There are two districts in which the Republican and the Democrat are listed as each having received 50%, both of which currently have the Democrat slightly ahead: SD-60 (Democrat Thompson vs. Republican Grisanti) with 99% of precincts reporting, and (more promising) SD-37 (Democrat Oppenheimer vs. Republican Cohen) with only 81% of precincts reporting.
I’m not sure how much leverage we would have in redistricting if there was a 31-all tie in the Senate, so we really need one of those two tied districts to go our way.
Oops, here’s the link to the NY State Senate election results: http://elections.nytimes.com/2010/results/new-york/state-legislature
I am absolutely thrilled. Frankly I never thought I’d live to see the day.
Down goes Oberstar! Down goes Oberstar :)
He gave a speech last night on local television claiming victory with his usual condescending manner, but with the southern part of the district still out overnight I held out some hope. At 3:45 this morning the district flipped.
Proud proud proud to finally turn red for the first time since 1946! We also got control of both the Minnesota House and Senate for the first time in forty years ... not bad at all.
That reminds me of the 1994 or 1996 election when Mitt Rommney, before he was known nationally, challenged Ted Kennedy for his Senate seat. Even back then, Ted looked like h-ll and was like the classic Irish stereotype -- fat, bloated, ruddy-complexioned from too much hard living. The Romney campaign included ads showing Teddy waddling around the Capitols and trying to fit his big fat a-- into a chair, in contrast with the handsome, fit, telegenic Romney. Ted almost lost. Soon thereafter he decided to get his life back together; remarried that younger women and stopped living like a playboy after 30 years at it.
Just wish that Dingell had been ousted because he looked too decrepit.
The taste of victory and freedom has never tasted so sweet, eh?
I am very happy for you....and your great state to finally
get relief! The news of the state senate and house going
red is just icing on the cake.
...even if it does seem like there might be some delay and
hair-pulling where the governor’s race is concerned. Hope
you get your way on THAT one, too! :)
Hope it works out.
Then we’ll only be ****ed in Illinois for redistricting. Those scum are already sharpening their hatchets to erase our sweet US House gains and ensure another decade of state legislative domination.
Well, I can’t seem to find any reliable sources, so I will
come to the best one I know.......
what is the status on that governor’s race? Is it too close
to call...will there be a recount.....tell me,tell me! :D
