This excellent article was published in the Detroit News (which can't be posted here due to copyright complaint).
It is an excellent response to the RINOS and "moderate Republicans" who are whining and crying how the Tea Party lost the Senate for the Rs.
Here's the link.

I would really like to know your thoughts about him and how he campaigned, if you would like to take the time to type the words. :-)

Having low expectations regarding politicians is always a good idea, even with conservatives. I expect them to not make messes on the floor and to keep thefts down to petty cash.

The only people I know who voted for him in the primary were dyed in the wool dems. I voted for him in the primary and I am far from a dyed in the wool dem. I couldn't stand Cox for many reasons. I thought Hoekstra was a neocon, Washington insider. (And boy! Has he turned out to be the whiner or what?) I would have voted for Bouchard, but he didn't have a hope in hell and I didn't want to lose the chance to make my vote count against Cox or Hoekstra. That left Snyder. And another reason I voted for him was that he was an outsider to the Michigan GOP establishment. I loath that group. So what a hoot it was to read Nolan Finley's column giving credit to the Michigan GOP. Even the blind squirrel .... Snyder won this election. The Michigan GOP simply rode his coattails.

As a Californian, we need to study what worked in Michigan and start applying it to CA. Everyone thinks that CA is unwinnable for the GOP, but if Michigan can go GOP, there is hope.

I’m not impressed with his 10 point plan for Michigan. Lots of weasel room and plenty of opportunities to spend taxpayer dollars.
My uncle in Ann Arbor has worked with Snyder on and off over the years and likes him a great deal but does point to his attitude toward the 40+ crowd as troublesome. If you’re over 40 and not an executive, there really doesn’t seem to be any place for you in Snyder’s vision of Michigan.

Kind of a mixed bag really. We had to elect a “republican” version of Jenny Granholm to do it.

Detroit, if you want my business, then you need to break the UAW. Then you are going to have to talk to the Fed.
A repeal of the Norris-LaGuardia Anti-Injunction Act and the Wagner Act is needed before they can move to break the union monopoly.

There are parallels — both states had foreign-born governors who will hit their term limits; both states have voted mostly blue for a long while; both states have economies which are on the skids; and (although this isn’t generally known) both states have a considerable Latino population that is partly non-US-citizen.
