Militia members are normal everyday people. We are just like you, and some of us may be your neighbors, your friends, and your family. Everyone has heard of violent hate-based groups calling themselves militias. Everyone has also heard of parachute malfunctions, but we still understand that parachutes are a good thing, right? Militias are the parachutes our founding fathers built into the constitution to save us in the event of disaster, government tyranny, or foreign invasion....

How does one find a militia in their area? Any ideas?
That’s one of the few factual editorials that I’ve seen about Militias. Most of the MSM coverage of militias shows guys with swastikas tattooed all over them burning crosses.

Do a search for your state’s name and “state Militia” I would be surprised if you do not come up with something.
The “unorganized” or reserve militia is a legal and lawful part of the armed forces of this nation. It is a military organization recognized by the Second Amendment of the Constitution; Title 10, Section 311 USC; the Dick Act of 1903; the National Defense Act of 1916; and affirmed by numerous court decisions.
There is no ambiguity. The “unorganized” citizens militia is not the National Guard or the state “select” militia under the governor, or part of the “organized” armed forces of the federal government. It is literally the entire body of armed citizenry.
Although the “unorganized” militia can be called up for lawfull (Constitutional) purposes, it is not under the direct control of any state or political jurisdiction. It represents the authority and power of the People over the government and stands as the last defense of the citizens of this country against domestic tyrannt

We have a militia chapter in Marietta Pennsylvania.
Do a search for your state’s name and “state Militia” I would be surprised if you do not come up with something............................................. Yup! here is what I found on one of the sites.
“An estimated 440 militia groups exist nationwide, with Florida having one of the largest concentrations of them and white supremacy groups, Akins said. He identified 77 militias in the state, ranging in size from five to 30 members, along with 21 Ku Klux Klan and eight Nazi or skinhead’ groups.”
Being retire military, I know logistics win wars. IMO, these type groups would be nothing more than a nuisance to a trained military. I’d like to see them in uniform, and I wonder how many would pass AR 600-5(?). There was a time when we had many veterans who could be recalled to form real fighting units, but that time has passed.

My wife works in a fairly urban area, and she is always stunned by how many people, upon learning only that she is from Michigan, will approach her and ask if she can get them in touch with the Militia.
Thank you. I just did that and contacted a site. I’m not sure if they are a Militia, not sure if it’s actually displayed on their website.
I just sent them an email asking some questions and gave them the link to this thread, told them who I was.

Tedious because they are being supplied by outside suppliers, have sanctuary beyond their borders, and we are not using the weapons we are capable of using. Our enemies would not be as nice to us on our land, you can be assured of that. Our lands would be the parking lots.

No it's not. The armed forces are defined by 10 USC 101, and the militia isn't one of them. The militia is the union of the National Guard and the manpower pool defined in 10 USC 311. The article's author, not being a man and (apparently) not being a member of the National Guard, is not a member of the militia.

To a degree. The question is: Have we prepared? I say no. Believe it or not, the Bible has a very sophisticated and detailed system that has never been even understood, until now.
I think we tend to vision the militias as being what we see in the Hollywood Movies. There are too many factors to consider, running around in the woods, sleeping in tents and playing soldiers isn’t what it really is like. I noticed one of the sites tells you to pack light. I guess they don’t factor in the weight of support weapons, ammunition, the need to secure fuel, being able to transport undetected all the necessary items needed to support the mission, i.e. radios, medical supplies, food, water, and having trained medical personnel. When you are on the run where are you going to run to? The swamps of Florida? The mountains of the Rockies? How long will you last in any of those environments? Will the enemy really care if you are in the swamps or the mountains? What would be left of your cities? Are you going to fight like the “Wolverines” in the movie, with an endless supply of ammo? With the bad guys exposing themselves to get shot? Maybe the bad guys will not expose themselves and instead come at you with mini-guns, mortars and rockets? Who is going to supply you? Is there an outside source to smuggle in the items you need? Is there an international boundary where you can hide and regroup in another country? So many factors to consider, its not a “Call Of Duty” Video game.
