The Internet's been buzzing with talk about how members of the U.S. Tea Party movement have been getting out the vote for Bristol Palin on Dancing With the Stars.
The blog Jezebel had a post about it today, complete with quotes from conservative message boards about how Bristol's supporters were exploiting ABC's email voting system to cast multiple ballots for Sarah Palin's daughter.
Jezebel quoted one site, FreeRepublic.com, that urged its members to "make liberal heads explode" by voting for Bristol, "even though she is not the best dancer."
Well, my liberal head is kind of exploding right now because Bristol made the finals on DWTS at the expense of a far superior dancer, Brandy.
And if Bristol thinks she made it just on the quality of her dancing, that's about as believable as seeing Russia from her mother's house. Even if her presence in the final three isn't part of some right-wing voting conspiracy, Bristol's appeal to viewers isn't strictly about skill on the dancefloor.
Maybe it's her youth, what Len Goodman called her vulnerability or the fact she's not typical Hollywood, which is the argument she herself made on Monday's show. And there's no denying she's come a long way since Week 1, given that she had no previous dance experience.
But in my opinion, the three best dancers aren't in the finale and I'm bummed about that.

How about when people said they were going to vote for Obama, simply because it was time for a “black” to be President?
Hey, if Bristol and Willow’s vulgar tirades (f-bombs - s-bombs, etc.) on Facebook don’t bother you, and they don’t bother Sarah, then who am I to complain, eh?
Why if Bristol was here, she would have every right to tell me to f— off as she’s done to others on Facebook.
If nothing else, it has created some financial security for her and would give her the ability to further her education or whatever she chooses to do. I’m sure her family would always be willing to help support her, but she’ll find it comforting to have her own nest egg. What it has done for her self confidence can do nothing but help her continue to be successful.
And most liberals are really Marxist or communists.

Most of us peasants can identify more with the neophyte Bristol than with the old pro, Jennifer.
My brief dance experience was as a chorus member in “Fiddler on the Roof” at the local Community Theater.
After 6 weeks of professional coaching by a dance leader, I still couldn’t get the steps for the opening number. (”Tradition”.)
The director ended up putting me in the back row where no one could see my (two left) feet.
I’d VOTE for Bristol over any lib, but I’ll have to agree with my wife, a dance intructor for over 40 years: Bristol should not have been selected for the finals. Brandy was excellent.
True everyone has their reasons, I can’t argue with that. This is just the conservative equivalent of a Soviet gymnastics judge in the Olympics. Not my kind of thing I guess.
Where was it ever written that Bristol is a source of embarrassment for her Mother? Teenagers, are just that.... they cuss, some get pregnant or worse. Life doesn’t always go according to plan. You still love your children, hope they mature and learn from their mistakes and grow into responsible adults. Kind of like all of us!
You don’t know that Bristol made the finals at the expense of Brandy. Allyou know is that Brandy got the lowest combined score. Kyle could have had the second lowest combined score.
Bristol is not a very good dancer.
Barack Obama is not a very good president.

Me too. It’s not exactly fair to have to compete against Jennifer and Brandy who are professionals dancing with professionals. And to watch them whine.

She stinks! - What Brandy does is not in any way “dancing.”
