What is Senate Bill 510?
U.S. Senate Bill 510 ^ | November 19, 2010 | DrewsMum

Posted on 11/19/2010 7:13:15 AM PST by DrewsMum

I am posting this thread to see if Freepers can help break down Senate Bill 510. The original bill was 266 pages and full of legalese. I have been rallying friends, family and Facebook friends to call/email/fax the RINOs who are supporting this bill, but I am getting tons of questions about it. (Why is it so bad?) I can answer some, but I need help. I naturally gravitate to FR for answers. Could I get some help breaking it down into laymen terms? Perhaps some of you could help with the most damaging items using bullet points about the bill.

Adm Mod---please don't just delete this thread if I did anything wrong. Please tell me what to correct so that I can do that. This is important to so many of us and I am not an expert on posting. We're all in this together, right?? :0)

Wow. I’m impressed. And it takes a LOT to impress me. That’s not the standard form letter.

” Senator Coburn’s stricter amendment “

What is Sen Coburn’s amendment??

(Unless it’s a ‘poison pill’ that renders the whole bill meaningless, it’s just “deck chairs on the Titanic”...)

Thanks for the info, though - I wasn’t sure about the legislative schedule for this monstrosity.....

Lugar and Bayh. I have a letter sitting on this desk from Lugar from the last time I called his office.

They did respond, it was over S.3454. But it was way after the bill had been voted on. That one was the military appropriations bill that punk Harry Reid tried to slip the Dream Act in.

Ticked me off. Lugar said Reid will put that bill back on the table this month. Get ready.

Bayh won’t care because he is out in January. He will probably vote present.

I called both my senators. The RINO LAMAR! is a sponsor, and Senator Corker's office told me he had not taken a position.

This bill is a classic example of a large industry trying to regulate competitors out of business by using complicit nanny-staters to do their dirty work. A pox on both their houses!

And I will not submit to their authority. Don't touch my junky tomatoes! I will only give up when they pry the okra from my cold dead hand.

Call me an alarmist if you must but first look up Russian food collectives.

Russia started breaking up large farms and giving the smaller plots to peasants. Since you no longer had the economy of scale less food was produced. The communist rather than admit it was a mistake put price controls on food. The small farmers then would eat it themselves or sell it on the black market why sell at a loss. The State then made it illegal to sell food without the OK of the state. The state decided that large farms were good and in one year 60% of all farms were now under state control. Those that resisted were jailed or executed as Kulaks or “tight fisted”. The means of production were socialized (Land, crops, livestock). You were not allowed to even have a household garden.

Estimates range from 4 to 10 million die from starvation as a direct result of this plan. Stalin declared people were dizzy with the success of collectives.

Could this law be the first step? Will Nancy be dizzy with success when this passes?

Still looking, but the only thing that I've found so far is that his amendment banned earmarks from the bill.

” his amendment banned earmarks from the bill. “

Oh.. I’d heard about this (but didn’t know that Coburn was the shill) — the plan is to attach the ‘Earmarks Ban’ as a rider to this bill, so that Republicans who wouldn’t ordinarily vote for such a Bureaucratic Power Grab would either have to vote for it, or be branded as hypocrites on the issue of Earmarks...

“I would suggest other Freepers to reach out to companies that will potentially be affected by this bill to either wake them up, or get their take on the bill.”

Good suggestion.

I took a copy of H.R.2749 to the local “seed and feed” place, and asked if they could leave it on their countertop for all customers to see.

Made me wonder about the outcome of THAT POS....

“UPDATE: Despite the best efforts, HR2749 passed out of the House on July 30, 2009 by a vote of 283 to 142. It sits in the Senate awaiting reconciliation with Senate bill S 510 if it passes.”

MY BAD! It was 350 million on top of what they already get.

From Senator Coburn's report on the bill.

Here is a quick way to learn all about this bill: just search the key word "CODEX"

Also quickly check all my posts on the subject HERE

Here is what's coming if you plan to grow your own food:

As for me, I'm done warning the world about this very dangerous bill.

I began posting warnings in 2006. Then stepped up my efforts in 2009. Even contacting local merchants in the organic food industry was a total waste of my valuable time. Nobody listened. Nobody cares. Just like when I tried to warn people about HUGELY inflated home prices and the housing bubble and then the credit crisis. And warned about Wall Street Profiteers playing games with derivatives and forging mortgages and selling them to the world in exotic tranches.

Nobody listened. Nobody cares.

All I got for my efforts were thousands of hacking attacks and hundreds of insults from clueless freepers and paid shills working for mortgage lenders.

Now I have other fish to fry. So just scr@@w it. I'm done. I'm finished.

Monsanto won. The people lost.

You’ll really be concerned when the next one they pass contains “anti-hoarding” language. Then it’s going to look like 1930-33 in the Ukraine.

Those of us who have prepared will be demonized as kulak scum. We all know how that went.

We already go right to the farmer to buy meat, fruit and vegetables. They can pass all the laws they want. It isn
‘t going to change a damn thing about that, we will do it at night illegally if we have to. The farmers here don’t care what the feds do, and they never will.

this is government and corporate cronyism at its worst. having read through the bill, it amounts to government control of our food and ability to grow it, even in our own gardens.

from the health ranger:

"It will become the most offensive authority against the cultivation, trade and consumption of food and agricultural products of one's choice. It will be unconstitutional and contrary to natural law or, if you like, the will of God." - Dr. Shiv Chopra, Canada Health whistleblower (http://shivchopra.com/?page_id=2)

This tyrannical law puts all food production (yes, even food produced in your own garden) under the authority of the Department of Homeland Security. Yep -- the very same people running the TSA and its naked body scanner / passenger groping programs.

It also sells out U.S. sovereignty over our own food supply by ceding to the authority of both the World Trade Organization (WTO) and Codex Alimentarius.

It would criminalize seed saving (http://foodfreedom.wordpress.com/20...), turning backyard gardeners who save heirloom seeds into common criminals. This is obviously designed to give corporations like Monsanto a monopoly over seeds.

in another sellout by rinos. the bill apparently passed yesterday.

i'm faxing the rinos who did it: alexander, barrasso, collins, snowe, corker, enzi, grassley, greg, johanns, lemieux, lugar, thune (yes him too), vitter, voinovitch and telling them to at least mitigate their damage by supporting the TESTER HAGEN Amendment to opt small farms out of the bill.

it puts in place the mechanism for DHS and/or DOD to Nationalize - seize - all, or any part, of our food chain — in case of an unspecified/undefined ‘emergency’...

That's interesting and more than a little bit sinister since this has been a provision of the more onerous Executive Orders that have been floating around since FEMA was created (put on thy tin foil and prepare thyself!):

REX84

Executive Orders associated with FEMA that would suspend the Constitution and the Bill of Rights. These Executive Orders have been on record for nearly 30 years and could be enacted by the stroke of a Presidential pen:...

EXECUTIVE ORDER 10990 allows the government to take over all modes of transportation and control of highways and seaports.

EXECUTIVE ORDER 10995 allows the government to seize and control the communication media.

EXECUTIVE ORDER 10997 allows the government to take over all electrical power, gas, petroleum, fuels and minerals.

EXECUTIVE ORDER 10998 allows the government to seize all means of transportation, including personal cars, trucks or vehicles of any kind and total control over all highways, seaports, and waterways.

EXECUTIVE ORDER 10999 allows the government to take over all food resources and farms.

EXECUTIVE ORDER 11000 allows the government to mobilize civilians into work brigades under government supervision.

EXECUTIVE ORDER 11001 allows the government to take over all health, education and welfare functions.

EXECUTIVE ORDER 11002 designates the Postmaster General to operate a national registration of all persons.

EXECUTIVE ORDER 11003 allows the government to take over all airports and aircraft, including commercial aircraft.

EXECUTIVE ORDER 11004 allows the Housing and Finance Authority to relocate communities, build new housing with public funds, designate areas to be abandoned, and establish new locations for populations.

EXECUTIVE ORDER 11005 allows the government to take over railroads, inland waterways and public storage facilities.

EXECUTIVE ORDER 11051 specifies the responsibility of the Office of Emergency Planning and gives authorization to put all Executive Orders into effect in times of increased international tensions and economic or financial crisis.

EXECUTIVE ORDER 11310 grants authority to the Department of Justice to enforce the plans set out in Executive Orders, to institute industrial support, to establish judicial and legislative liaison, to control all aliens, to operate penal and correctional institutions, and to advise and assist the President.

EXECUTIVE ORDER 11049 assigns emergency preparedness function to federal departments and agencies, consolidating 21 operative Executive Orders issued over a fifteen year period.

EXECUTIVE ORDER 11921 allows the Federal Emergency Preparedness Agency to develop plans to establish control over the mechanisms of production and distribution, of energy sources, wages, salaries, credit and the flow of money in U.S. financial institution in any undefined national emergency. It also provides that when a state of emergency is declared by the President, Congress cannot review the action for six months. The Federal Emergency Management Agency has broad powers in every aspect of the nation. General Frank Salzedo, chief of FEMA's Civil Security Division stated in a 1983 conference that he saw FEMA's role as a "new frontier in the protection of individual and governmental leaders from assassination, and of civil and military installations from sabotage and/or attack, as well as prevention of dissident groups from gaining access to U.S. opinion, or a global audience in times of crisis." FEMA's powers were consolidated by President Carter to incorporate the...

National Security Act of 1947 allows for the strategic relocation of industries, services, government and other essential economic activities, and to rationalize the requirements for manpower, resources and production facilities.

1950 Defense Production Act gives the President sweeping powers over all aspects of the economy.

Act of August 29, 1916 authorizes the Secretary of the Army, in time of war, to take possession of any transportation system for transporting troops, material, or any other purpose related to the emergency.

International Emergency Economic Powers Act enables the President to seize the property of a foreign country or national. These powers were transferred to FEMA in a sweeping consolidation in 1979.

Which Congress person was this?

The scariest part of the list of co=sponsors of S-510 is that many are from the Midwest, where having a home garden is very usual.

Many cities & villages have set up Farmer’s Markets areas at tax payer expense. This bill would wipe out Farmer’s Markets.

Sasquatch in the White House is telling everyone to grow their own gardens—& to push their kids to eat only fresh veggies & fruits.

Then they come up with a bill that prevents exactly that.

It will be illegal to even TRANSPORT fruits & vegetables. Since your apple tree isn’t next to your kitchen sink, nor is your tomatoe patch or berry patch, carrying your picked fruit & vegetables from the orchard & garden into your house could be considered “TRANSPORTING’.

Remember- we are dealing with Democrats here.

Bill Clinton kept parsing his words over Monica & kept asking what the meaning of the word “is” is. He also said he was never ‘alone’ with Monica because there were others in the White House.

Orrin Hatch needs to be flogged for his support of this bill. All the states where Amish & Mennonites live will be starving these people out of existance.
