Why? You don’t think this story is interesting?

And spare me any sympathy for Bush. Any sympathy I ever had for him went away 9 trillion dollars ago.

LOL...me too. My brother in law used to give me copies, and I read a few. A few was enough.

Reminds me of the time my mother-in-law (a REAL liberal) gave me a copy of “The People’s History of The United States” as a Christmas present. She knew I loved to read, and was a history buff.

I was kind of excited when I got it, too. So when I sat down and began reading, just a paragraph in I said to myself “WTF?”

I skipped a few pages and read a few more passages. Then skipped a few chapters to some key historical events, and read those. After ten minutes, I got up, went out to my garage and threw the book in the trash.

Funny thing was, my mother-in-law really was trying to get me a book she thought I would like. She had no idea, she just saw it on the bargain book rack at Borders, and grabbed it...:)

"Now we know why George W has not said a word against Obama."

You're an idiot. Seriously. Bush hasn't bashed 0bama because to do so is unPresidential...

...not because, as you imply above, that the "Bush 6" were actually under legitimate suspicion.

That Spanish case was *entirely* political.

A WikiLeaks cable shows that when Spain considered a criminal case against ex-Bush officials, the Obama White House and Republicans got really bipartisan

If this is true, it is just a very rare example of this administration doing what is should be expected to do.

The precedent of a US President or his representatives being threatened from abroad could hurt Obama in the future. He was probably just looking out for himself.

Corn is an ideologue and a fool. 0bama has continued Bush's policies and declined to pursue show trials for one reason: he's getting the briefings now, and he's on the line for the results. And he now knows perfectly well that the President is held to an impossible standard by the ignorant and the self-righteous, his own buddies on the Left and quite a few on the Right as well. And, to be honest, all those actions that sounded so easy on the campaign trail turn out not to be in the real world.

The Left, on the other hand, refuses to accept that we're not all living in the International Land of Oz now that their fashion model is sitting at Lincoln's desk. They cannot be placated, nor can they ever be pleased. They can be bought off, which is 0bama's only remaining recourse, but throwing Bush to the wolves is too high a price because he will almost certainly be the next one thrown.

The Right, as well, stinks of self-righteous ideologues who demand perfection while doing nothing themselves to pursue it. It all looks so easy from the sidelines, doesn't it?

You really believe that huh?

Bush didn’t even defend himself while he was President.

He went out of his way to treat Clinton with kid gloves. I suppose Clinton pre-emptively saved GWB’s backside sometime during that transition from the Florida recount and the “W”’s going missing on keyboards and when Clinton finally made his long tedious exit from the world stage. There has to be a hidden reason there why he doesn’t speak against Bill just to follow your logic.

All Presidents face some political retaliation on behalf of these foreign governments playing up to their anti-American rhetoric. Spain is one of the worst since they rid themselves of their prior pro-American leader. Obama is a member of the political class doing what they all do. Protecting each other’s hides because one day it could be them. Not that GWB needed protection from trumped up charges in a foreign government. American citizens would not allow their President to be brought to a show trial in an International court and the fire that would reign down on anyone who tried to arrest one of ours would be enough deter them.

GWB’s has his faults but in this instance the simplest explation is the real one. The guy believes it’s beneath him to tear down a duly elted U.S. President, at least since he became one.

I disagree with him but I disagreed with him many times. Bush did what he wanted anyway.

The only relevance this story has to me is I can imagine how the nutcases on the left are reacting.

during an April 14, 2009, White House briefing, I asked press secretary Robert Gibbs........

This WH allows a "reporter" from Mother Jones press credentials? WTH is wrong with these people? David Corn is relevant on MSNBC but that's where the commie puke should stay. Not be allowed in the WH press room.
