Does Obama’s nominee for head of Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives oppose
Daily Caller ^ | 12/3/10 | Amanda Carey

Things had been looking up for gun-rights activists. In 2008, the Supreme Court ruled in D.C. v. Heller that Washington’s handgun laws were unconstitutional. In the summer of 2010, in McDonald v Chicago, the court expanded that ruling to apply to handgun laws in all 50 states.

Even President Obama seemed relatively open to Second Amendment rights, saying on the campaign trail: “I believe there is a Second Amendment right. I think it is an individual right. I think people have the right to lawfully bear arms.”

Now, it seems that when it comes to Obama and guns, he was for them before he was against them.

Last month, the president nominated Andrew Traver to be the new director of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (BATFE). But while gun-control advocates are lauding Obama’s nominee, others are worried Traver will implement strict gun rules by way of bureaucratic regulations rather than law.

Of course he does. the question is will congress and citizens let obama and his band of misfits continue to achieve through bureaucracy and regulation what they are unable to achieve through law. better still, why wait to find out. shut down the BATFE altogether. just another out of control federal agency that does more harm than good and we are better off with out it.

Again, Obastard is going to get what he wants by regulatory and judicial fiat when he cannot get it through Congress. I wonder if Congress was just stupid and naive when they created HUNDREDS of government agencies and gave them the power to create "rules" with the weight of law or were they intentionally laying the groundwork for a person like Obama who would usher in their totalitarian utopia.

Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms should be a convenience store.

SCOTUS has stated there is an individual right. There can be no judicial fiat without SCOTUS reversing itself. As for regulations, they too must conform to the LAW (Constitution). As long as SCOTUS maintains its stance the haloed one is very limited as to what he can do.

Congress could, in one fell swoop, castrate the executive branch with this amendment:

Interstate commerce shall consist only of direct sales across state/territory/district borders.

emailed my Rep saying he needs to do every thing he can to derail the Traver nomination, and then turn his attention to the ATF and their list of misdeeds.

It is not possible to utterly enslave an armed people. The left has been aware of this for the better part of a century, hence the reason for its perpetual assault on the 2nd amendment. Irony aside, actual Americans will NOT reclaim their liberty and nation until the left finally succeeds in making the ownership of guns illegal. Nothing short of this will provide the spark necessary to begin the 2nd American revolution.

Whatever it is, I'm against it!

Seriously, what did you expect? Also, has there ever been a pro-2A head of ATF?

sadly, the muzzcomms have realized the truth of that statement, and are actively destroying everything else, whilst meticulously attacking the 2A piecemeal...

we'll endure a few more rounds of attrition via criminalizing more basic human activities, simulataneously pitting the 'fudds' vs the trap & skeet guys vs the frightened homeowners vs the EBR Patriot Citizens...

eventually its gonna be *unpleasant* for a great many on both sides of FReedom vs muzzcomm tyranny...

Who would of thought that he could seize GM and parcel out it’s assets as he saw fit?

There is little Obama CANT do if the press keeps covering for him.

Without knowing anything else my answer would be yes only because he's an 0blahblah appointee.

I'm so done with hoping that this kenyan idiot does the right thing, since I know anything he does is for the destruction of the country. The only thing I do when I read anything about Hussein is count the days till 1/20/2013.
