A federal judge declared the Obama administration's health care law unconstitutional Monday, siding with Virginia's attorney general in a dispute that both sides agree will ultimately be decided by the U.S. Supreme Court.

U.S. District Judge Henry E. Hudson is the first federal judge to strike down the law, which has been upheld by two others in Virginia and Michigan. Several other lawsuits have been dismissed and others are pending, including one filed by 20 other states in Florida.

In the spirit of compromise I think I have a solution that will truly work for our country.

We ask everyone if they believe everyone should have to have health insurance in the US. Is they answer yes we make them pay twice as much for their plan they have today. If they don’t have a plan we make them buy a plan. If they can’t buy a plan they can go to prison where health care is free.

Every year every person has to declare if they think everyone should be mandated to carry health insurance. I bet over 3 years you’d find almost 100% of the population would say it shouldn’t be mandated :-)

Agree. And don’t forget the Dummies forgot to put a severability clause in the bill.

I wonder if the Democrats did that deliberately. I would think that without a severability clause, they could try to intimidate the SCOTUS into believing that the bill is "too big to fail".

I see a problem with the reality that Republican appointed judges rule against, and Democratic appointed judges rule for.

So much for that impartial judiciary thing.

The political class in this country is setting up the pure conditions required for civil war.

They believe that no swinging dick walking about today understands this concept, and will let them pull this off and walk away in control of everything and everyone.

Everything is planned, except the human nature thing. And a population that is armed to the teeth... 10% of them just itching to shoot the crap out of anything for every or no reason. They walk the line, as do many others.

We do not need this $hit, but I fear it is inevitable. observe your position on this line, as when things spiral out of control, you will need to know which side to fall towards.

"This case will be decided by the swing justice, Anthony Kennedy."

And when it comes to individual citizen rights, Kennedy usually sides on the rights of the individual. Look at the two 2nd Amendment cases and the Citizens United cases that recently came before the court.

Obama may live to regret castigating the SC Justices in the SOTU this past January. Kennedy was among those he dissed.

IIRC, weren't those suits brought by private parties and NOT states...Obamacare wasn't ENDORSED by those judges, the suits were merely not allowed to continue.

Am I correct?

This sentence reeks of liberal media bias.

You're telling us! Finally some end to the madness.

Yes. One single person on the Supreme Court holds the future of this law in his hands. Anthony Kennedy is that person.

Of course, he does NOT hold the future of the law’s enforcement and future repeal in his hands. He can do the right thing and rule AGAINST Obama Care, but no matter WHAT he does, the American people will not sit idly by and allowed this pile of garbage to rule over them.

I guess we will wind up having thousands of threads on this.

Good. Then everyone who pops in here later in the day will be informed. There's already been several threads locked so I'm glad we finally have one that's stuck around more than a couple seconds.

There was no immediate comment from the White House.

Has anyone seen Hussein since his tail-between-his-legs exit leaving Bubba in charge of the presser?

Ken Cuccinelli is a solid Conservative and good man. Lets hope our luck holds out in the Supreme Court.

I think he'll be President one day, probably 2016 or 2020.
