Biden sees 'inevitability' for gay marriage By Russell Berman - 12/24/10 10:02 AM ET
Vice President Joseph Biden said in a television interview Friday that “there’s an inevitability for a national consensus on gay marriage.”
The vice president, who backs civil unions but not same-sex marriage, weighed in on the issue two days after President Obama acknowledged his position was “evolving.”
“I think the country's evolving,” Biden said in the interview with ABC News. His comments were not the first time he has suggested the country would eventually accept and support gay marriage. Asked in a 2007 appearance on NBC’s “Meet the Press” if gay marriage was inevitable, Biden replied that “it probably is.”
In the wide-ranging Christmas Eve interview on ABC, Biden also stood by his previous assertion that U.S. troops would leave Afghanistan by 2014 “come hell or high water.”
The White House had clarified that remark, but Biden said Friday he was “absolutely confident” that the U.S. combat mission would be complete in three years, comparing the process of gradually withdrawing troops from Afghanistan to the war in Iraq, where the military declared an end to combat operations earlier this year.
The vice president did say, however, that the U.S. might retain open bases in Bagram and Kandahar beyond 2014 as part of a “train-and-assist” mission.
“I think there's equally a prospect that they'll remain open as closed,” Biden said. “But we're not going to be there with 100-- my generic point was there're not going to be 140,000 ISAF forces, International Security Forces, in Afghanistan by the year 2014.”
On taxes, Biden reiterated the Obama administration’s call to end the Bush-era tax cuts for the wealthy after 2012, when they will expire after the extension the president negotiated in his compromise with Republicans. Yet Biden conceded that “nothing’s a guarantee.”
Biden also revealed the top of his Christmas gift list: He asked for a golf club - a two-wood, to be exact.

So, what Biden is telling us is that he and his friend Zero can make any laws they want, and we can pound sand. They have votes to hustle and too bad for the average American, because they know best.

If it does become law, we need to start movements to take away all tax benefits for marriage and treat everybody as a individual and make marriage only a religous ceremonial act... Couch it in deficit reduction and sowe can’t afford these giveaway to marriage people..

Biden may, but , God doesn’t. It may not be popular to opine this, but, I would be concerned more about what pleases God than Biden or obama either. But then again, obama is not my missiah, he is not even my President.

Can anyone tell me for certain whether “marriage” is a religious institution or not? Because quite frankly, everything that a marriage gives to a heterosexual couple, a gay couple can get too by legal process. For instance, name changes, naming a heir, health beneficiaries and so on...

Fear not my friend. Marriage is the foundation of the nuclear family, which in turn is the foundation of the country. The demonic-rats will sacrifice the country for short term political gain (they know broken families overwhelmingly vote demonic-rat); but a broken family nation is no match for a paternalistic Islam. By the time the demonic-rats successfully destroy our society, the Muslims will take power and beat - torture - then stone to death all the immoral. We have to tolerant and inclusive. In the future all heterosexuals will have to submit to a night of gay sex to prove their loyalties to the ideals of tolerance and inclusiveness. The Democratic party will demand it. Joe Biden will demand it. Obama’s safe sex czar will demand it. If you don’t submit you will be fined and forced to buy an ornament of gay Jesus for the Christmas tree.
And Scripture sees the inevitability not long after of the catching up of the church, the tribulation on earth, and the return of Christ. Luke 17:28-30, 34-36.
We know its coming because the Bible tells us. We fight against it but we also know it will be a sign of the imminent return of Jesus coming for His own and the overthrow of the world's wicked and corrupt usurpation of God's glorious rulership.
Finally a slither of clarity from Biden. 3 years means Obama is out and Palin is in and yes I could see her bringing an end to this quickly.

In my opinion, the term "institution" simply implies that marriage is and has been recognized by society as valuable to society as as such institutionalized. Society did not create marriage it simply incorporated it as something recognized successful. In the moral free market, the marketplace of ideas, some ideas are rejected and some are accepted, some are but novelty or fad while some become institutions.
Institutions come not from think tanks, elite academics, or government mandates.
Government did not create marriage. Government simply carries out the wishes of society by recognizing and accomodating on society's behalf what society deemed valuable long before government was created by society.
As to religion, from my perspective, marriage entails a commitment before and between God, husband, and wife with religion simply God's representative much like government is simply society's representative.
With homosexual marriage we see government place itself over both God and society. Not good.

The ability of chaplains to operate according to their faith, billeting issues, housing, the blood supply; there are a myriad of issues left unaddressed but my guess is they’ll all be resolved to the detriment of military readiness.

There is a national consensus on gay marriage. Every time the issue is put to a vote, an overwhelming majority votes to ban it. The liberals just refuse to accept that.
