I’ve loved Palin since I first saw here and I can say tonight that I’ve never been more proud of her. Testify, Sarah!
He's in the twilight zone insofar as Palin is concerned. PDS can make even sane people clueless, just look what it's doing to the marginally sane democrat/media complex.
First she's at fault this non political sicko shoots these people, then when she responds to the insanity, that's her fault too.
She did a rhetorical rope-a-dope on them. I think she knew this would make them hysterical, and keep the story going at a time when the facts are coming out against them and they would otherwise want to let the story die.
She kicked over a few tables with whip in hand.
As Jon Stewart pointed out, blaming talk radio for the Tucson killer is like blaming hard rock radio for the Columbine killers... Sarah Palin is right. She is being slandered. Nothing reflects the vulgarity of the national conversation over the past few years more than the relentless "hating" of Sara Palin, particularly in the Jewish community, particularly those Jews who flatter themselves as being tolerant, as masters of civility.
Number 2, I form my own opinions (imagine that). I don't need anyone from the left or the right telling me what to think or validating my conclusions.
My point was that the use of the phrase was stupid because it would, predictably, allow the left to re-frame the discussion around those two words and ignore the rest of her three page statement.
The very fact that Dershowitz is "defending" palin's use of blood libel just proves my point.
Palin will win this war. She has the entire MSM outgunned.
*Ponders the utter stupidity of that statement*
You know, virtually every conservative commentator has come not only to her defense, but strongly so, and with well reasoned points. Krauthammer, the guys from Powerline, Glenn Reynolds (libertarian), Michelle Malkin, Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, there is virtually no one on the conservative side that is not ridiculing the MSM or defending her for her use of the words "blood libel".
Even libs such as Jonathan Chait are defending the use.
Go suck some lemons somewhere else please, you don't "think for yourself", your PDS is just driving you insane.
It must not be fun to be such a jerk.
Typical response from you...all invective, zero facts, less logic. Precisely why I more often than not will not respond to you.
Ed Koch: If you agree with me on nine out of 12 issues, vote for me. If you agree with me on 12 out of 12 issues, see a psychiatrist.
BTW, wtc911 is one of FR's finest.
I can just hear the hew and cry now the next time someone uses the phrase “killing fields” to describe the mass murder of non-Laotians. /s
I agree that she knew what she was saying. I also thought she made a mistake doing so.
I haven’t renounced that position yet, but there’s been a lot written today that has softened my stance. I was surprised to find so many references to blood libel in recent and past political speeches and comments — these didn’t pop up in a google search, but I guess because it was overwhelmed by current links. (also I am not above suspecting Google of trying to push the left’s desired hits to the top of the list).
Who knows, by the weekend I may have changed my mind, and decided that it was a good phrase to use. But I’ve never doubted that Sarah Palin knew exactly what it meant, and used it purposely. I simply couldn’t figure out what her purpose was.
Yep, as National Review said today....the PDSers are in a frenzie!
You spent most of your day whining (and repeating your whining ad nauseum) about two words from a very fine speech; two words that absolutely have now defined the debate on what the MSM has tried to do with her.
Much like "death panels" has become a simple concise way to understand Obamacare, "blood libel" is now going to be used as how the MSM has dealt with this tragedy.
Get over yourself, you had a bad day.
It's unbelievable the nonsense they spew.
*Whiny voice* Sarah Palin said "blood libel", oh how horrible........
I love that song...”and the cat’s on the keyboard and the silver spoon, little boy blue and the man in the moon...
I don't know much about his posts, rarely have noticed them. In this instance, all he has is his opinion (a very lonely one on the conservative side it seems), and it's not a very good one, not one that seems respectable or filled with facts as he seems to think.
I understand your Koch quote, but in this case, wtc has simply lost it.
