FBI Visits Ozark Blogger at Request From Rep. Billy Long's Office (Chilling Giffords Effect)

An Ozark, MO man says he had a peculiar visit this week. Clay Bowler says an FBI agent wanted to know about any confrontations with Representative Billy Long.

Bowler, a political blogger, would attend Long's campaign events during the summer and ask political questions, even following Long to his car, hoping for answers on different topics. Tuesday, Bowler recorded the interview with the FBI. On the recording, Greene County Sheriff Jim Arnott says Billy Long's staffers gave authorities Bowler's name.

Bowler understands after the shootings in Tucson the FBI is trying to be proactive in finding threats, but he says he shouldn't be on any lists, that he would never do anything violent to anyone. At the end of the recording, the FBI agent agreed that Bowler did not appear to be a personal threat to Long.

We made attempts to reach Representative Billy Long and members of his staff - as well as the FBI and Capitol Police. We can tell you, Capitol Police held a meeting with elected officials in Washington, D.C. today to talk about safety.

We're told the Greene County Sheriff was with the FBI agent in Ozark because their investigation initially said Bowler was living in Greene County.

NOTE: Billy Long is a Republican.

More from KSPR:

SNIP

Bowler was puzzled why Arnott accompanied the FBI agent. Arnott is sheriff of Greene County. Bowler lives several miles into Christian County.

"Our first information was that he lived in Republic," in Greene County, Arnott said.

Christian County Sheriff Joey Kyle was apparently unaware the FBI was in his county, interviewing a person who'd been flagged as a potential problem to a sitting U.S. congressman.

Bowler isn't the only local person under federal investigation. Arnott confirmed to KSPR News that Bowler isn't the only local person who's been scrutinized in the wake of last weekend's shooting of Rep. Gabrielle Gifford (D-AZ) during a meet-and-greet with constituents in Tucson, Ariz.

Arnott said U.S. Capitol police canvassed members of Congress to come up with a list of people across the country who might be considered potential threats to members of Congress. It's up to local law enforcement to protect members of Congress when they return to their home districts.

Bowler, an avowed conservative, says the FBI visit was cordial. He videotaped the encounter and said the agent was polite throughout the brief encounter.

But Bowler says the FBI visit left him shaken.

"I don't sit 24 hours a day, seven days a week, thinking about Billy Long," Bowler said. "I stopped going to campaign events in September where Billy attended."

Bowler said law enforcement told him he's not considered a threat to Long.

Long office did not return a request for comment.

I’m going to hate to see what the FBI does to TEA PARTY folks that dare ask a DEM too many questions at one of their visits home after passing another unpopular bill.......

The first comment there is interesting: “This is news only because his wife works for ky3 and he (they) are also the one’s that had H1N1. This whole family is newshounds. Oh ya and his spouse is alway gonna argue for the left. The fact that he thinks that following someone to their car after a meeting is gonna get answer is rediculous. It is only to confront someone and see if you can get another news story. He is a Toolbag.”

Any truth to this?

*But we will be keeping a up to date dossier on you. You will have your own assigned agent, it will be his career to keep tabs on you.

That won’t happen for 2 years. Maybe ALL Repubs should ignore any RINO?Dum Representative. And if they call you asking for money or vote, tell them you consider the call a threat. Two can play this game..

Giffords already tolerated no dissent. At a Fortune 500 company where she held a townhall (I was sitting in the front row), a top, world-renowned scientist questioned her version of global warming. Within a few weeks, he was "retired" at 29 years with the company (nobody does that). There was a shake-up there, and Gabby's BFF who ran the site was moved, but that's about it.

Whenever we showed up to protest or ask questions at her (3 only) townhalls, Giffords would go on local PBS to call us names ("the mob," carrying "swastikas," "inciting riots").

Then there was the dropped gun incident at Safeway in Douglas (on the border), where they tried to act that someone had been out to get her. No arrests, should have been no drama. And the broken window incident they tried to pin on anti-ObamaCare protestors (none of whom would stalk the partying Dems until 2 or 3 in the morning to break a window).

There has long been a chilling atmosphere here and she even lost on Election Day (but early ballots pushed her over).

After she recovers, no one will ever be allowed to question her again, and she'll have whatever seat she wants (Kyl's? McCain's) for life. Not to mention that she can campaign for silence from the opposition nation-wide.

Thank you for reading. I have been trying to get the word out about stuff like that for years... on our local AZ board, word of mouth, so on.

There are many, many more stories — but the press has always covered for her so much, that the stories were buried (like how she drove her family business under, the toxic waste dump her family owns in downtown Tucson, how Kelly flew her in the NASA jet for a date night and he only got in a teeny bit of trouble, etc. etc. etc.)

Any one of those scandals would be enough to get a Republican canned or at least blackballed. But for years here, I’ve seen the double standard. And I’m so dreading what’s going to happen next!

All Americans are Islamists now, I guess. We are going to need much, much more funding for our new KGB.

I think this means we are needing many more people asking the rats a whole lot more questions, espeically about repealing death care.

Republicans might have to have hearing on homeland Security political harassment and violations of civil rights. Yes, Obama, whitey really does have civil rights, too.

What a great idea! Report them back. Actually I feel terrorized by Obamacare.

I once got a notice of a registered letter at the post office. I took time at lunch break to lug myself to a loooong line at the post office. It was a fund raising letter from the GOP. That line was mostly Republicans who were all truly potential domestic terrorists at that point! I would not want to be the poor fool answering GOP headquarter phones that week.

I demanded to be paid for the gas and time I spent on this stupid fund raising trick. I asked the guy if they had Democrats dreaming up great fund raising ideas for the GOP!

"....she even lost on Election Day (but early ballots pushed her over)."

Can you explain that to me? How does early ballots push her over to win, if in the end she had fewer votes?

From what I heard Jesse Kelly say on the radio, he won on Election Day with 54 (or 56?) % of the votes. I can’t quite remember the percentage. If we only allowed voting on Election Day and maybe absentee ballots, he would have won.

Within 15 minutes of Jesse winning the primary, Gabby went negative. She had millions upon millions in her war chest, and all those early voters were duped. She also wouldn’t agree to a debate until it was almost Election Day (and the deadline for requesting early ballots had passed).

When those early ballots started being counted, that put her over by about 4,000 votes. But it took a few days to hash it out, maybe even over a week, I already can’t remember exactly. That’s how close the election was.

Money and lying in campaign commercials helped her win.

And then on Sat, Linda Lopez went on Fox and dared say that our mean, nasty, horrible campaign signs (the ones rebutting Gabby’s lies and pointing out how she forced ObamaCare onto the unwilling public) were what caused the massacre.

And then there is the little issue regarding Internet ID that the POTUS seems so forward in supporting.

Watch for some in Congress to use this as a tool to silence the People of their district.
But any Congress person that uses this to silence innocent people, should be named and held to answer in the next election.

If the FBI has this kind of overstaffing that they kind run around playing errand boys for congress people. Then maybe they need their budget trimmed. And all the while the internet is full of REAL threats from the Radical Left and the Islamofascist
