You said it better and more concisely than I was going to say it. Well done.

It is common, in many states, to reach back onto the birth certificates, to change a name on a birth certificate. From the birth name to the adopted name, and behave as the original name never existed.

I’m no fan of this, mind you, but this is done in a lot of the states and has been for many years.

So yes, a birth certificate from the sixties would reflect an adoption (thus a name change) into the seventies.

Go ahead and look it up. It’s no joke.

“So a birth certificate from the sixties would reflect a name change from the seventies.”

Yes, actually that is what happens. When there is an adoption, the original is sealed and the birth certificate is reissued as a birth registration with the new parent(s) listed... at least that’s what happened in Michigan to me back in the late 50’s when my mother remarried after my father’s death and my stepfather adopted us... don’t know about Hawaii.

There is a reason why his origins are obscure/mysterious.

I think this is it (the correct theory)...in many respects no big deal....the kid was adopted by a foreigner ...but politically and technically its a mess

Reason Obama will not release birth certificate is because his name is legally written “Barry Soetoro” on it

And, if so, Barry is guilty of violating the law when he swore that he had never had or been known by any other name than Barack Hussein Obama.

Yep.

I'd also like to know if there were ever any pre-2007 postings anywhere online mentioning anything about "original" birth certificates of adoptees.

The original BC could be under ‘Dunham,’ and only if reckless Ann Dunham declared the Indonesian adoption to HI officials did the HI BC get changed.

This is not a case of a child being given up by both his biological parents and his custody being transferred to two non-biologically-related parents.

His biological mother retained custody throughout.

Birth certificates are sealed only in closed adoptions.

What was that weird story about a Steve Dunham that came out a year or so ago, was that a complete hoax?

I’ve done a few step parent adoptions and also we have an adopted daughter. Her birth certificate shows me and Mr. Mercat as her parents. There’s no mention of her birth parents or of her having been adopted. And her name is A.I. Mercat (not really but you get the drift) with no mention of her birth name. And since Mr. Mercat and I were not anywhere near her birthplace which is still accurate, its a bit weird but there it is.

That's interesting. But, that doesn't tell me whether the original certificate exists in the filing system, or if there is a link or reference to it in the filing system. It's hard to believe that the original records, or any link to them, would simply be destroyed.

Freeper Aunt Polgara’s original BC was sealed when her mom married and her husband adopted her children.

So is the orginal sealed to where even you as the individual whose name was changed can’t see it?

In any case regarding Obama he’s refused to release any BC original or revised to reflect an adoption. I think that is the greater point of this matter.

The original documents are not destroyed.

They are SEALED.

They can't be accessed, except by a court order, and then the (physical) seals are broken.

Thanks for clearing that up.

Interesting that Hawaii has a convenient little law barring BCs to be made public, if that person doesn’t give said permission. When did they enact this law and why?

I think an entire country has a “right” to see the BC, whether Barry gives his permission or not!

A legally sealed document can ONLY be unsealed by court order.

I do not understand why people keep harping on the Original Long Form BC, as that would have been permanently sealed by the family court conducting the adoption.

So, would the short form with the new name that he did submit for public view be a total fraud in the case where the original has not been amended with new latest/greatest legal name?

Correct! We adopted two boys, one in Texas and one in Florida. In both cases, we were given a new birth certificate with my wife and I as the parents. The originals are still on file. The information can only be retreived by court order, for just cause.

BTW, since he has not LEGALLY changed his name and he signs everything 0bambi, anything he signs is a fraudulent document and is therefore, null and void.

then why doesn't the governor of Hawaii say so? He could just say ‘He was legally adopted by Soretero and so his birth certificate has been legally changed to reflect that’? Instead of fumbling around saying he can't find it or access it?
