A Secret Service Agent is recovering after accidentally shooting himself Friday morning.
It happened just before 10 a.m. at the Ventura County Sheriffs Department shooting range on Aviation Drive, in Camarillo.
A spokesman for the Sheriffs Department says the gun went off as the agent was putting it back into his holster

>> SS is so overrated!
I disagree. It’s tedious job that permits no mistakes.
Cocked and locked. Me too!
As he was getting ready to holster his Glock 22 (.40 S&W), the SAC’s pistol discharged. The SAC, who was seated, had the bullet make a clean in and out of his upper thigh (no major damage) and the bullet lodged in his calf. He was given first aid at the scene and transported by ambulance to a local hospital. Neither of the wounds were life threatening and the SAC was back to work in about 4 to 6 weeks.
There was a incident aorund my house where a local yokel mistook his back up pistol for a lighter and blew his freakin nose off his stupid face.
And they wonder why we like to be able to protect ourselves.
Put him on Obama’s detail I say...
Actually it's more like a SA pistol with no thumb safety. Like a 1911 with the hammer back and no safety. Quite safe if nothing ever contacts the trigger in an unplanned way.
You’re right. And you can ND any pistol. But it’s a little easier with a Glock.
We used to call this::
Felony reckless endangerment using a Firearm causing injury or death.
Reckless Endangerment
Negligent discharge of a firearm
If it was you or I, we would be in JAIL for this NEGLIGENCE
There is no such thing under the law with regards to firearms as an ACCIDENT. Put this loser in jail.
Funny
Did you see the video of an officer in a high school class teaching gun safety when he grabbed his Glock and shot himself in the foot.
Nice family you got there bud!
Because if you drop the gun on the hammer....
A 1911 has three safeties: The trigger, the safety on the backstrap and the thumb safety.
Also you can thumb the sdafety off easier and quicker than you can cock the hammer.
It takes some getting used to, but cocked and locked is the most safe.
New SS motto:
Remove finger from trigger when holstering weapon.
I’ve got the 6” version of that. It never fails to go bang.
Glock is no less a semi auto revolver with high capacity mag. Draw use trigger......bang.
I know the glock is carried more . Thus if everyone drove fords more accidents were caused by fords per se....
I agree we hear of more NDs with glocks but for reasons I suggest above.
Hope yer well buddy.....stay safe !
Sonny Crockett ?
fyi those guns were or had the capabiltty to be rel nice but they were pos I had some go fully auto on me So you always loaded the mag with 3 rounds to start
Exactly. One law for the gov, another for the sheeple.
Please don’t lecture me oh how to carry an M1911 safely. I have carried them cocked and locked when I thought there was imminent danger. If you are talking about being safe from a criminal I guess you could carry it cocked with safety off and the grip safety taped down.
If you want to carry it in the most safe mode from an accident, then you would carry it unloaded, with the mag empty and no cartridges on your person.
If you want to carry it in a reasonably safe manner yet want it to be ready very quickly, then you carry it loaded to the gills with the hammer down.
Despite what the erudite Col Cooper (whom I loved to read) says, cocked and locked is not the safest way to carry an M1911.
except armed islamic muslims !!
