Not Just Another Midwinter Friday Freep at Walter Reed, Week 303, February 4, 2011
February 5, 2011 | Kburi

Posted on 02/05/2011 7:09:18 AM PST by kburi

Tonight was a rather mild night which was the likely reason that the front gates were so active. Cars and soldiers were going into and out of Walter Reed all night. At times the honks and waves were continuous.
Lurker Bill’s music, mostly patriotic, but tempered occasionally with some Benny Goodman big band and a little jazz, brought a little sunlight to our portion of Georgia Ave.
One dinner bus tonight filled with soldiers, returned a little before 9pm.

Announcement:
All of you who are coming to DC to attend CPAC, please make plans to visit us on Friday night. Don’t forget to dress warmly.

HONOR ROLL for February 4, 2011

Mr. and Mrs Trooprally, BufordP, Fraxinus, GunsAreOk, CindyTrueSupporter, VictoryNY, Lurker Bill, and Kburi

Yes, The Moonbats Are Still There

Four moonbats tonight. At 8:50pm, their silver moonbat recovery vehicle (MRV), loaded with moonbat bumper stickers, arrived. Right at 9pm, their signs and other moonbat paraphernalia was loaded into the MRV, and they left.

Related moonbat news.

About 7:30 pm, an older man strolled by, stopped and asked who and why we were here. Mrs Trooprally answered “Free Republic! We are here to support the troops and their families. ” I asked him why he was here. He answered “for a board meeting.” Oh, what board is that, I asked, “Peace Action” he said. We spoke for a few minutes and I said you will be more comfortable with that group down the block.
Later, a woman walked past us with a windbreaker and SEIU stenciled on the back.

All of you rock! Thank you for doing this!!! Being in Oregon sucks on a couple of levels, and being so far from the action in DC is one! Thank you for being there and doing it for those of who can’t!

Thanks for a timely report. Had to laugh. All you guys are standing there with signs in big bold letters “SUPPORT THE TROOPS” “WE HONOR THE TROOPS” and the guys wants to know why you are standing there. Typical liberal. Idiot.

And I thought the old guy stopped because he liked the Benny Goodman music. And now we know why the moonbats linger so long after 9 - they are having their “bored” meeting.

Good thing for these reports, even I learned something, and I was there.

So thanks for posting.

Just saw your post and am still laughing. You are spot on. Standing on the corner, everything happens fast. I don’t think it’s exactly coincidental that this guy came by.

For a moment I thought of bringing in one of our more vocal members, who was listening to Mark Levin, but I don’t like to see peacenik types cower and cry.

:-)

Especially loved that little story about the Peace Action guy, how funny.

LOL

In hindsite, with the Steelers losing, I could have done something else.

I wanted to root for the Packers, but they beat the Eagles in the playoffs. Not that the Eagles did not deserve to be beat. After they beat the Giants at the end of the regular season and clinched the division championship, they imploded. They played like a minor league team.

Not a normal Monday Monday. Being the origional Steeler fan, I hurt.

We used to serve Kolbasi to Buddy Dial and Bobby Layne and Big Daddy Lipscombe after the game only IF THEY WON outside of Forbes Field.

Guess we were the first tailgaters.

But we were different, we had the large fire barrel just to keep warm and sneak into the game after the guards went home. Someone got the idea to get some sticks and Kulbasi and tailgating was invented.

If we built a fire in a barrel today like that they would arrest us.

Gold Bless You All For Supporing The Troops.

Ahh, the good old days. There sure is a lot of stuff the nanny state no longer allows us to do. And we survived.

Thanks for the blessing.
