Japan isn’t diverse enough to create rioting or looting.

Based on the reports I’ve seen there isn’t a whole lot left to loot anyway.

Diversity doesn't make society stronger. Japan is very homogeneous. They know that they are all in this together.

Why is there no looting in Japan? Do we really want looting? Just asking... Why was there no looting after 9/11?

Some would say they are more like sheeple. Used to accepting things. Used to dependence on the government to take care of them and to sit quietly and wait.

Why is there no looting in Japan? I don't think I'm allowed to state my answer to that.

A culturally cohesive society that they have managed to preserve through firm limits on immigration.

"Why is there no looting in Japan?" They are a different class of people in that they have "class." Were this New Orleans, St. Louis, Chicago, etc., the result would be much different. The Japanese have not yet introduced "tribalism" to their culture.

In a CNN interview, the reporter asked a Japanese student if there was looting. He looked puzzled and then said there was no word for “looting” in Japanese because their citizens would never do that to their community. Sadly, the USA cannot match that standard.
To: NCjim
Japan is a largely monolithic culture. There are few minorities and no ingrained entitlement subcultures. To loot would be dishonorable! In U.S. subcultures, to not loot would be dishonorable...

I cant think of any nation that has done as much to distance itself from its past and toward peace with her former enemies. It is really sad that this happening to them.

I asked this same question a few days ago.
There were some funny answers, but I can't recall them off the top of my head.
Japan well has a different demographic makeup than New Orleans... maybe a lack of footlockers because remember that looting accorded IN... Oakland, CA over a police shooting trial. Instead of having a political rally, the thugs in Oakland raided every store they could.

During the 2007 floods in the West Country abandoned cars were broken into and free packs of bottled water were stolen.
There is a difference between scavenging and looting. A thirsty man taking water for himself is scavenging. Grabbing a big screen TV is looting. Unfortunately there is a line someplace between a six pack of bottled water big tub of Heineken.

With effort and persistence children can be educated so that they accept almost anything.
In Japan, it appears that they have managed to raise children who believe in honor, and community. When those values are instilled at a young age, they become the person’s very nature.
In the US, the liberals have taken over the schools and raised several generations that believe in socialism, victimhood, and reliance on the government. Those traits are becoming the very nature of people in the US.
