Regulation: Worried about job losses, Big Labor is demanding that the EPA soften new rules aimed at pollution associated with coal-fired power plants. They want to save their jobs, not the environment.
It was one thing when those greedy tools of the rich, Republicans and conservatives, stood in opposition to the Environmental Protection Agency's regulation of carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases as well as its tightening of ozone and mercury standards in violation of sound science and congressional intent.
After all, they were interested only in ravaging the earth for fun and profit.
Now unions and some of the Democrats they support are demanding the EPA be reined in. As we've learned from Wisconsin, hell hath no fury like a union in fear of losing jobs, benefits and, most important, union dues.
Recently a coalition of labor groups wrote in a letter to EPA administrator Lisa Jackson that imposing the new EPA regulations would lead to "significant job losses around the country."
An analysis by the United Mine Workers union said that putting coal mining in the EPA's cross hairs could put at risk as many as 250,000 jobs in electoral-vote-rich Rust Belt states.
The United Steelworkers union wrote in an August letter that "tens of thousands" of jobs at factories whose employees are represented by the union "will be imperiled" by the EPA's regulatory onslaught.

Why not just ignore the EPA? Obama ignores the court system.
Having 2nd thoughts, WVa?
My reply to the Unions...”But—but—this is what you have demanding, angling for, donating to achieve, marching for, protesting for. How can you side yourselves with those EVIL corporate pirates and greedy businessmen?”
Welcome to the real world, fellows. Happy now?
They're FINALLY realizing this?
Well, better late than never.
This is how we beat the enviros on this issue: promote it as environment v. jobs and environment v. ‘social justice’ (poor people, elderly, little kids).
Why is the EPA still around?? We control the Money!!
I think we are missing an opportunity here.
This is a wedge issue that conservatives can exploit against the democrats. The enviro-loons would like to kill all energy usage except windmills and solar. The labor unions know their miners need work in the coal fields.
We need to set them off against each other. The more effort they spend fighting with each other the less time they have to attack conservatives, and who knows maybe we will peel off a couple of conservative union members.

Ping
I dont know about peeling off conservative union members, but let them fight it out with the greenies and maybe some common sense will come to some rank and file union members. In the meantime, the left is confused and weakened.
Whoops.
Then, tea time is over, back on your heads...
I’m old enough to remember that joke. :)
Surprise, surprise. They finally got their noses far enough out of DuhWon's rear to hear what is going on!
Rand Paul Is Having Plumbing Issues, Blames Energy Department
By Erik Hayden Mar 10, 2011
“You dont care about the consumer really...Frankly, my toilets dont work in my house, and I blame you.”
Senator Rand Paul, directing his ire about his malfunctioning personal appliances toward the Energy Department in a hearing of the Senate Committee on Energy and Natural Resources on Thursday. He later circled back to the subject, chastising the Energy Department for inefficient product standards. “We dont even save any money,” he said. “We have to flush the toilet 10 times before it works.”
