I don't support the war in Lybia (Vanity)..
JSDude1 | 3/22/11 | J.J.S.

It's not that I don't support the US military, because I do FULLY, and wish our forces in harms way (whether led by a fool or not) a safe return home.

With that being said: I DO NOT support the War in Libya.

HERE'S Why:

1st we do not know our allies (or if they even are our allies..do we really know the "rebels"? What they stand for..If they are Islamists, or Western 'democrats'?? Can we controll who takes over should Quadaffi step down?

2ndly: What is our national interest in Libya? I suggest we really have no strategic (foreign policy) reason to be in Libya. We get virtually all our oil somewhere else, we do not know who's side the rebels will be on (but I can predict) in real politic terms if they come out on top, and as sad as a humanitarian tragedy war is- it really wasn't our fight to get involved with Quadaffi vs. his people.

3rd, WHAT IS OUR OBJECTIVE?? It started out as a humanitarian effort to end the slaughter of civllians, aka (to bring Quadaffi to just stop indescriminate bombing, and possbily at the most to bring him to the 'negotiating table'..), and now I hear Obama "Quadaffi 'Must Go')? Do we really have a goal, and should we really be there to ensure "Quadaffi must go"??

DO WE HAVE AN 'EXIT STRATEGY'

Fourth: Where was the Federal Constitutional authority for President Obama to direct us in another war..? No less under the authority of the U.N.

Fifthly, I will not ~give~ Obama cover to start a new war even if it does evict feelings of 'Patriotism'. I am against this for these reasons.

Please, even though Quadaffi is a bad guy, and should go, I don't think we need (or shoudld) send military force to contront him at this time!

J.S.

Now that the war is on—we must kill him or if he stays in power he will have his henchmen blow more Americans out of the sky in revenge as he has in the past.

Yeah, but...

There is no evidence of a plan that is directed to that end.

It is VERY likely that Qaddafi will survive, stay in power, and of course he will do exactly as you say.

Didn’t support getting involved in Libya. As far as I can tell, we’re actually on the wrong side (I definitely prefer bloody-handed fascist dictators to Jihadis and Al Qaeda. They’re more predictable and easier to get along with.).

But now that the troops are in harm’s way, God speed, keep safe, and may they know victory.

I think Qadaffi screwed the pooch when he threatened to blow up the oil rigs

The europeans own Libya’s economic infrastructure, they bought and paid for Libya, including the Colonel himself

Qaddafi can be a naughty boy and blow an airliner or two out of the sky and plot to kill jews and Americans

but don’t touch the european oil rigs and pipelines

No one will understand what’s going on in the middle east without understanding the prophecies in Daniel, Ezek, Revelation and scripture in general. All leadership in each of the countries will end up Islamic anti Israel/America. The impetus influencing what is happening is no longer of this earth. The set up for end time tribulation forces is in play.

Did they state item 1 in Arabic or English?
Remember “Taquiya?” It might be a lie in Arabic, but its DEFINITELY a lie in English.

We have no business being in Libya. Obama has violated the Constitution by using military force without congressional authorization.

He left the country at the same time he authorizes missile strikes on foreign soil.

He tells the world that we won’t use ground troops. He has no plan and no exit strategy.

I am afraid that there will be retaliation on US soil.

He justifies the assault under UN approval. WTF??? The UN now dictates our policies?

Boehner should be screaming at the top of his lungs for impeachment. He’s a damn pussy.

There are no leaders in congress or the white house.

IMPEACH this bastard!

I cannot in history remember a time the Chairman of the JCS held a briefing within the fist 24 hours of a war and told the world he wasn’t sure how it was going to end

Pathetic, wasn't it? Can you imagine a Bn or Bde Cdr giving that kind of cdrs statement in a mission briefar the tactical level? They would have been cashiered and rightfully so.

China has been moving significant logistical (not military) assets into Africa for several years now (Chad, Sudan...) to exploit various natural resources.

France and England are at severe detriment as to material and personnel on continent because their cultures are dying out.

Like all past European precedent, just blow the $hit out of everything on the ground, then move in and pick up the pieces.

China is overextended as far as force projection on the continent goes, and dying Europa sees this as opportunity.

Neither the Chinese or the Europeans really give a crap about all those brown people running around in the scrub and dunes. America is just a useful idiot, flailing about under the control of... no one in particular...

The only way we can claim winning in Iraq is to stay there.

Remember when someone, can’t remember who now, said it could take 100 years? Well, there you go, we leave and Iran will take that place over in minutes.

The sad part here is that if people say they don’t support this sham in Libya they are somehow dissing the troops.

The troops do as they are ordered. The problem is the leaders. They aren’t wise. The lives of US servicemen mean nothing for politicians wanting to up their foreign policy creds and line the pockets of political cronies. They pick some bogus reason to order these troops in and whip up the patriotism for another boondoggle that will have us mired in neverending commitments to Muslim nations one more time.

They always do it claiming some noble reason that they are stopping genocide and saving lives. That is only to get the sheeple on board.

This latest Libya crisis was a non crisis for the US before this weekend.

It sound like the anti-war right wing is picking it up.

We’ll be seeing “Maimed for a lie” pretty soon.

I oppose the war because (1) There is no discernable US vital national interest in it and (2) I see no military mission, much less a winnable one.

"Have no clue who these rebels are."

To me that is the key factor. We may very well end up supporting the worst element possible. The rebels are being labeled a pro-democracy movement. This may be so but what evidence do we have of their intentions? Wasn't Iran's Ayatollah supposed to be part of a democratic uprising against the dictator Shah?

I think China evacuated 4000 workers out of Egypt or libya when this mess started

Guess who’s going to come back and rebuild it when the dust settles

———I think Qadaffi screwed the pooch when he threatened to blow up the oil rigs-——

So, if that is true or something like it, it boils down to the old man. He won’t quit. Like Robert Byrd or Dick Lugar or countless others, he just can’t believe the world will continue without him

"The rebels are being labeled a pro-democracy movement. This may be so but what evidence do we have of their intentions?"

Actually there was a story posted yesterday that revealed our own National Security intelligence apparatus was asserting the "rebels" are being led and directed by al-Qaida and MB operatives.

I oppose military action in Libya for many of the reasons you mentioned plus:

The UN resolution is a cease-fire resolution. It in no way supports taking Daffy out or helping the rebels achieve their goals even if we did support them. That means the rebels cannot advance or make any kind of offensive against Daffy or we would have to hit them too. So it essentially freezes the current situation to go on indefinitely, like the no-fly zone in Iraq did. And I think we all know where it will have to lead if there is ever to be a resolution to the situation.

I believe that military intervention should be in order to achieve a resolution to a situation, and never as a police action. If we go, we need to go in, get the job done and then bid them an adios. Anything else is just a crap sandwich for our side, taxpayers and military personnel alike, not to mention what it does to the Libyans involved when they get punished by sanctions instead of the dictator. They really got the rotten end of the stick with no end in sight.
