Limbaugh says GOP caved on budget deal

Limbaugh says GOP caved on budget deal By Daniel Strauss - 04/11/11 01:05 PM ET Rush Limbaugh said Monday that Republican leaders "caved" on the budget deal they struck with the White House on Friday night.

On his radio show, the conservative firebrand said he was less than enthusiastic about the $38.5 billion federal spending compromise.

Limbaugh said he wished the spending cuts had been larger.

"We've shown that we'll cave. We have demonstrated that we will cave if they threaten something like government shutdown," Limbaugh said.

He added that a handful of Tea Party Republican freshmen in the House he'd talked to were "devastated" by the deal. He called the Republican House leadership in the mid-1990s, led by then-House Speaker Newt Gingrich (R-Ga.), "revolutionaries" for allowing a shutdown instead of conceding to a deal.

Yet Limbaugh did offer some lukewarm praise for the agreement.

"Thirty-eight billion dollars, I'm sorry I can't start throwing parties over it, but it's a first step," Limbaugh said.

"I wish it would have been $100 billion, I wish it would've been $61 billion," he said.

"The Newt bunch were revolutionaries," Limbaugh said. "The House leadership today is not revolutionaries."

He also said Obama’s eligibility is “questionable”. Maybe Trump has forced the talk show hosts to come out!

The House Leadership had a clear, direct and unanimous message from America. We all spoke as one. If they were waiting for the optimum moment, THERE IT WAS!!!

Instead, they let themselves to be intimidated by the MSM.

I am angry too...the Liberals were over a barrel and got a real break.

It is, the whole budget deal is nothing but smoke and mirrors. Some as with the Ryan deal, a glide path to a balanced budget. We are going to keep spending but just a little less.

The only thing that happens when you “compromise” with a liberal; the liberal gets lucky and you get the shaft. Happens every time.

Duh.... Anyone who has to wait for Limbaugh to them does not understand conservatism. Anyone with over a 90 IQ and is conservative already knows this. Don’t need Limbaugh to tell me the obvious.

Like I said the Republicans are now a Center Left party. There are still good Republicans, but it’s no longer the party of Ronald Reagan that I know for sure. Thus, why we have the tea party.

I think that Rush is off base a bit here.

He thinks that the Liberal/ MSM wailing is "just a ruse." That's the problem-- I don't think it's a ruse. The Libs are so divorced from reality that they really do think that $38 Billion worth of planned spendign reductions are draconian.

It was a victory for Boehner and the Tea Party. It wasn't a great victory-- but we have to deal with delusional people here. You simply aren't going to get what we REALLY want right now.

Until the Sheeple really understand the depths of this crisis-- we will have to work with the Democrats. Gov. Huckabee said this on Laura's show this morning essentially when he observes that you can only do so much with only the House.

Indeed. The battle is far from over and the Democrats were the ones who truly caved.

I like Rush but I think he is wrong on this. I see his issue with the way the media is covering this. Having said that, the media may be trying to push Obama and not to trick the Tea Party. I think it is wise for Boehner to choose his battles, we are not at full strength (yet) It is not all black and white (is that racist?). The Tea Party needs to make it’s presence known, just as they did last week BUT if the Tea Party shows that they have enough people in Government now, why vote in more? I think it is much smarter to show the public that if there were just more of us, imagine what we could do. That will get more Tea Partiers elected. Just a thought.

He’s right. The GOP civil war was flaming out - Boehner decided, “Hey, gasoline’s wet, maybe it will put out the last of this fire under us.” Conservatives don’t have short memories like libs - all this will come to bear next November.

The politicians are trying to find the longest route to default. By the time repudiation is allowed by their favored few constituents, nearly all Americans of all political labels will be demanding it and crying for it very loudly and forcefully.
