Afghan rules of engagement force U.S. soldiers to free insurgents caught red-handed (Revolving door)
Washington Examiner ^ | April 11, 2011 | Sara A Carter

Posted on 04/12/2011 7:25:35 PM PDT by Zhang Fei

Several Taliban detainees who had been captured in February after being observed placing bombs in the culverts of roads used by civilians and military convoys near Kandahar were fed, given medical treatment, then released by American troops frustrated by a policy they say is forcing them to kick loose enemies who are trying to kill them.

Despite what American soldiers say was a mountain of evidence, which included a video of the men planting the bomb and chemical traces found on their hands, there was nothing the soldiers who had captured them could do but feed and care for them for 96 hours and then set them free.

"...Our military command has no guts, no balls, and no sense, and that applies doubly to our “Coward in Chief”, and his military advisors...."

You mean the "military advisors" none of which having served one day in the theatre. Most, if not all, being acid-washed ex-doper hippies (or raised by one) that protested and spit on our troops returning from their service in Nam.

But not to worry, our troops are being taught the queer doctrine by CICK Obama and will be the better warriors for it./S!

Yup, we’re there to fight. If we can’t then it’s time to leave.

This has happened for a long, long time. Names, cartels and product change from time to time but this is nothing new.

What I'd like to know is the name of the person responsible for setting this policy.

Did you read the article you posted? Excerpts:

Troops say top commander Gen. David Petraeus has not fulfilled promises he made to Congress last year to review and, where appropriate, change rules of engagement that have restricted troops' ability to stop the enemy.

Gen. Stanley McChrystal, former commander of coalition forces in Afghanistan. promised that ISAF would have control of at least 40 Afghan districts by the end of 2010. That promise also was not met.

...

"How much more evidence do you need when they are captured on video and tested positive for ... chemicals on their hand?" a military official in Afghanistan said. "That's not enough evidence for our forces to transfer the detainees to a permanent facility before they try to kill U.S. troops again? It's unacceptable."

They must always be caught “red chested” as “red handed” is not fatal.

It’s time to pull our troops out and bring them home.

The real enemies of America are the politicians in Washington, DC and the lawyers who do their dirty work for them.

Nutty policy straight from the White House... and the flat-out intent is to force the US to be defeated.

And folks wonder why our soldiers get upset and act badly sometimes...

But when is our military going to uphold their oath - to protect the US from enemies both foreign and domestic? Our nation is besieged by an ineligible (constitutionally speaking) anti-American like we have not faced since the Cold War in our old adversaries the Soviets. Obama and his entire party want nothing less than to weaken the US until we are totally dependent on the rest of the world - and then subject to a single world government. That is the agenda - there is more evidence to prove it than there is that Obama is a natural born citizen of the US.

In a discussion today, an observation was made - Richard Nixon was drummed out of office for what, at the time, was viewed as a huge controversy... yet by today’s standards, such behavior wouldn’t even raise eyebrows - the corruption in our government (and most especially in the office of POTUS) is so far beyond anything this nation has EVER seen...

And our military refuses to do their sworn duty.

Did you read the article you posted? Excerpts:

I read the whole thing. It doesn't actually specify who put the policy in place. It doesn't even say outright that it was in place when McChrystal was in charge. Overall, the article is good in that it points out what may be a problem - if a revolving door policy is in place. I can't really tell if this was a local commander's policy or a theater-wide thing. Bottom line is that people need to inform their Congress Critters that allegations have been made and have them get some answers.

I was lucky in RVN. Both tours I worked with all older professional soldiers, rather then the 18 months and out. Some were just 3 or 4 years in, but they “got it!”

We never committed war crimes or anything of the like, but we had only two Rules of Engagement.

#1: Nothing counts more than the men in your small unit, nothing! Not highers, not rank, not your career, nothing!

#2: Go home to the Big PX vertical, not horizontal!

Taking prisoners is dangerous business.

If they come walking up to you hands up, or are seriously wounded, that is one thing. We never refused aid to the wounded or Hoi Chans.

Catch them in the act of offensive military or para-military operations? AMF.... and if they can't take a joke, screw ‘em !

We must get out of Afghanistan. It is not worth one drop of American blood.

The CIC (Capitulator in Chief) wants us to lo lose.

Shoot them, no can do under the “rules of engagement” our troops are required to observe.

Guy caught putting what looks like a bomb into a culvert on the road leading out of one or our bases in sand box land - did he have an AK-47 and shoot a round at your head? No, then no can shoot. What looked like a bomb may have been the lunch bag his mama gave him and he wanted it out of the sun. It turned out to be a bomb? Well, he may have just found it and put it where he thought it would be safe before running to tell you. You grabbed him and brought him back to base? Got to let him go with an apology for the inconvenience as we are here to win hearts and minds, not a war.

If I was out there I might be inclined to let alot of these taliban have unfortunate accidents rather than taking them prisoner, knowing they will get a nice meal and be released. This is idiocy of the highest degree.

What I'd like to know is the name of the person responsible for setting this policy.

It's written on his birth certificate, in his college transcripts, on his passports, etc. I wonder if we'll ever see any of those.

“The CIC (Capitulator in Chief) wants us to lose.”

Absolutely. The Administration has no intention of winning this. General McCrystal’s “Rolling Stone” interview was no blunder, IMHO. Having realized that the slime in Washington had our soldiers in another no-win situation, the General took an opportunity to force Obama to either to get real, or to make him fire him.

It was the 9-11 attacks that got us into this venture. But after a few years that attack didn’t seem to have any more significance than a trivia game question. To add to the silliness, the idea of a Ground Zero Mosque became all the rage. Now, our legal establishment wants our Constitution to be subservient to “international law”, and even would like to adopt elements of Sharia law.

The rest of us should realize that the real fight now is right here at home.

Let’s get our soldiers home. At the very least they’ll be good for the gene pool.
