Dubai used to be a nice place. Now you’d expect to find 0, Pelosi, Reid etc there. Wild horses couldn’t drag me back there.

Several of my colleagues thought it was a great place and would even take mini-vacations there.
I always felt there was something soulless about the place - I never really cared for it. The beaches are pretty and the skyline impressive, but Dubai never did a thing for me.
Now, I go in and out of Kuwait or Jordan and spend as little time in either location as possible - often just a few hours, negating any need to leave the airport.
Bahrain.
Why Americans would choose to travel most places these days is a mystery to me. I guess its that cant happen to me syndrome.

That’s an implied defense in my book.
Remember, this is supposedly one of the “good guy” regimes in the Middle East. There isn’t a single one of these muslim countries that wouldn’t send the western world crashing into hell if it weren’t for their abject fear of being overthrown by their own people. They need America and Britain to protect them, but they do not hesitate to spit on western culture. Just try to kneel down and pray publicly in ANY islamic state and you’ll get the same treatment that this poor sod received.
No, just guessing he was an overprivileged dumb-ass. For example, I would never go down a Third World country and disrespect the Police (to their face anyway) for fear that just this type of thing might happen.
Is this not the same vacation paradise which recently sentenced a European tourist to four years in jail - for a poppy seed detected on their clothes by a sensitive parts per million type machine used at customs, which fell off a bagel they ate during a layover at an airport in England?

Dubai is like Mexico. But without the Coronas.
