INDIANAPOLIS Refocusing on the nation's economic struggles, President Barack Obama welcomed news Friday that the economy unexpectedly added more than 200,000 jobs last month. "We are regaining our footing," he said.
The president spoke during a visit to a transmission plant in Indianapolis, even as the killing of Osama bin Laden continued to dominate headlines and much of the president's time.
From Indianapolis he was to travel to Fort Campbell, Ky., to thank the Navy SEALs who stormed bin Laden's compound in Pakistan and shot him dead, and the helicopter operators who got them there.
But first, at Allison Transmission in Indianapolis, the president promoted his clean energy agenda while offering an optimistic assessment of the economy's growth. April's labor market report marked the third straight month in which more than 200,000 jobs were created, the best three-month hiring spree in five years and a sign of increasing confidence in the private sector.
"We've made this progress at a time when our economy's been facing some serious headwinds," the president told workers, citing high gas prices and the earthquake in Japan. "There will undoubtedly be some more challenges ahead, but the fact is that we are still making progress," he said. "And that proves how resilient the American economy is, and how resilient the American worker is, and that we can take a hit and we can keep on going forward."

Actually, there are hybrid buses with Allisons.
Did I miss Hate Week?
If you're in a nosedive, are you still going forward?
Over a million people applied for those 62,000 McDonald’s jobs.
I wonder why nobody’s talking about the 938,000 who didn’t get hired.
Obama is the one dishing out hit after hit to this economy, including Obamacare, out of control deficits, Dodd-Frank financial “reform,” EPA regulations gone wild, U.S. dollar in the trash can, tax increases, etc. etc. I’m not sure how many more of these hits we can take.

forwardly down... :O
One of the working assumptions of the Chicago Way is that there will always be chickens to pluck and sheep to shear!
” If it is in the best interest of the political system to deny a problem, they will do so in spite of the overwhelming evidence to the contrary. The more vehement the denials, the bigger the potential crisis.”

“Even if the evidence shows bank failures, business failures and desperate efforts on the part of the federal and state governments to raise funds, you can be sure the information coming out of Wasington will be upbeat and positive...........When the interest on the national debt exceeds the toal income of our government it would be prudent to assume the system is about to “roll over”.

WE MUST VOTE REPUBLICAN NO MATTER WHAT!
This is what will beat us. If we get a republican in, then add a few more, then a few more, over time we will take back our country.
Don’t get sidelined with anyone pushed on us by the left.
I can just hear John Cameron Swayze now, “It takes a licking, and keeps on ticking.”
>>> The unemployment rate went UP. MORE people are out of jobs.
Goolsbee (Chrisina Roamer’s replacement) said: ‘trend is clearly in the right direction’
So you know, that IS what they wanted.
Clueless.
People are hurting, and he’s continuing the big lie.
2012 can’t come soon enough. We’re going to Wisconsinize this idiot.
How the hell would he know? Seriously, on what basis can he make that statement? Where is his experience? Has he studied economics in any detail? Is he banking on rainbows and unicorns? Draining the present and the future of hits wealth may very well be a hit that this economy does not recover from. No one knows, because we are in uncharted waters. But if I had to bet, I wouldn't be on the 'take a hit and keep going' side.
Sure it can take a hit and keep going....It’s falt on its arse now, pretty tough to knock it down much more. About all that’s left....nevermind. I don’t want to give him any ideas.
He alludes to this four year marxist detour maybe?
“In fact, this uptick to 9% actually suggests more people are returning to the work force..”
244,000 got jobs, 474,000 lost jobs.
We’re 7 million jobs below where we were in November of 2007. Adding 244,000 jobs a month won’t get us even with pre-recession unemployment until 2016.
