I'll call my buddy at GemTech and see if they make any suppressors for the .458 monster.
I cant get to their website from work due to a firewall.▼

The M-14 is way too powerful that close. But what a beautiful weapon.

Doesn’t require a burst.
Double taps are, technically, one aimed shot with a quick follow-up made without reacquiring the same sight picture. Semi-auto is used.
As opposed to a “controlled pair”, with the second shot also made using aimed fire.

You’ve got a real beauty there, back before everything was all licensed out to knock-off manufacturers. Good deal.

Nope.
both use a gas-piston system.
It’s the bolt LOCKUP that’s different.
HK uses a roller bolt in the HK-9x series, while the HK-416 uses the standard rotating bolt lockup.

The particular gun will hopefully be in a display case somewhere for people to admire.

Que?
Piston operated systems vent all gases outside the receiver. Nothing goes near the cartridge or chamber. The gas moves a piston which connects to an op-rod that pushes the bolt.

That was a helpful post. May explain why my Mini 14 is so inaccurate firing .223 Rem. Plus or minus three inches at a hundred yards is not a good thing. My sks can reliably hit a tennis ball at the same range... the mini... sometimes.

All but Obama and some in Congress admit they are Communist. What is to investigate what is right before your nose?Sad but true. So now what? Guess reality is we wait until November 6, 2012.

I don’t think I have ever seen a thread on FR where so many people think they are experts but clearly don’t know what they are talking about.

The G3/HK91 is roller-locked delayed-blowback recoil operated.
the chamber flutes only help in extraction by mitigating some of the obturation of the case aginst the chamber wall. all of the recoil energy has been transmitted to the bolt before any gas reaches the chamber flutes.
Anyway, in the G3/HK91, the chamber flutes do not extend all the way to the mouth of the chamber, so there is no pathway for the gas to reach the bolthead unntil the case is extracted from the chamber.
To: bodfish
Okay, point taken. You may be right.
So then, instead of the HK416 being the "Really Cool Gun that killed Bin Laden" it will be the "Really Cool Gun that DIDN'T kill Bin Laden".
Either way, it's still a Really Cool Gun!
